It's a pretty building, but vastly overpriced for what it offers. There is a major cockroach infestation that the management is not interested in solving. There is no AC, no heat, and no basic safety precautions. I had a stranger enter my apartment at night while I was home. Management did nothing and offered no reimbursement. Elevators always broken, drains never drain, especially bathroom tub drain; roaches everywhere, trash chute always clogged. Blood has been found on elevator floors. Paint is chipping in hallways and in units. Management is unprofessional and useless. I have more photos and videos of loud banging from neighbors, loud sex from the disgusting cretin you had living in unit next to me, loud screaming after 10pm, loud partying after 12am. All violations of city ordinances and violations of the lease. We also have the names of the cops we called on our disgusting neighbor and friends who kept harassing us. What did your manager do? Absolutely nothing. I'm going to keep posting the truth on every platform. I have lived here for a couple of weeks and so far everything has been great. We've had some small issues around very minor maintenance requests, which have been taken care of extremely fast. One thing our leasing agent pointed out were some tiles cracked in the kitchen, within 10 days, the maintenance team not only fixed the tiles, but put in a brand new kitchen floor. I've had multiple interactions with the staff (one of which hasn't been too fantastic), but my leasing agent, Suzy Dooley, has been extremely kind, warm, and welcoming. A week after move-in she even gave me a call to check-in to see how everything was going and if I needed anything else at that time. Anytime I run into her on the property, she stops and takes the time to say hi and ask how I'm adjusting to Chicago, goes I'm doing, etc. She's a real joy. Davyon on the maintenance staff is also pretty awesome. He's stopped by a couple times, thanks you for putting in the work orders to keep the property nice, and even shared how much he enjoys working for Reside and the benefits he gets through them. He even remembered to ask how a recent interview I had went when I ran into him on the street. I saw the reviews were pretty low, so felt it important to share my experience and how quickly the maintenance requests were being addressed. Adam has always been super professional and communicative. He jumps to get you answers and if he doesn't have them he will make sure to get in touch with anyone who does. Managing apartments can not be an easy task, as you rarely hear the positives but rather are more often than not dealing with negative issues/resident complaints. Yelp As someone who lived at the Park Lincoln for 2 years and paid $48,000 in rent for a 450 square foot apartment for 2 years, I can tell you first hand. Not only is it not worth it, but when you leave, the management here will HAUNT YOU!!! I moved out 2 months prior to the end of my lease because of the way some other stuff lined up. Reside refused to help me find a sublet, and not only did I have to pay the rent, but I had to pay for internet and garbage services I wasn't using. Fast forward to last week, 4 months after I moved out. I get an email from Catherine saying I Owe $45 which includes a $25 late fee for electricity. I was shocked!!! I was informed that I was required to keep my electricity connected for the duration of the lease. However, that was NOT written in the lease. This is the second time Catherine in the managers office made up something about their policies. The first one was about parking, but I won that small battle luckily. First of all, how can I be asked to pay a late fee for a bill I didn't know about?!?! That's like a cop writing you a ticket for speeding, when you were following the speed limit, but the cop decided to just make something up last minute. Doesn't seem fair right?! Neither is this! They will make stuff up to get your money and make your life hell. Then, when I asked how $20 was the electric bill when I have ZERO appliances turned on, I didn't even get a reply. Then did ensure to tell me if I didn't pay they would pretty much ruin my credit and start collections. Are you kidding?!?!?! Over so BS Bill?!?! This company will have you pulling your own hair out, emailing 3 people, calling 3 people from higher management, just get their answering service, and get no reply, and then still have your credit score threatened. I can tell you every single time this management company has sucked and lied and made my life hell, but I would run out of words in this post. Save your self some time and DO NOT LIVE HERE!!! Update: After being reached out directly from the management team the situation only got worse. The VP that reached out to me went through and blocked my email before I could even message her back. Someone else followed up with me once again about changing apartments only to basically disregard my concern on the fee and notify me that there is nothing they can do. I beg you to never take your business to Reside, I cannot imagine a bigger money grab company who cares less about its residents than them. Reside Living has resulted in the worst experience i have ever encountered within the service industry. If I was bale to give 0 stars I absolutely would, but here we are. My issues began as I was trying to inquire about my options for altering my lease as my SO and I are planning on moving in together. For starters, when you sign up with Reside they love to use their policy of changing your lease half-way through to a different location in case you change jobs or want something bigger as a huge selling point. Of course what they don't tell you is this benefit only applies if you have lived within Reside for over 1 year. So their proposal is to then charge you a $500 dollar fee on top of the increased rent you would already be paying for the remainder of the lease, real money grab type company. Now, I was only able to even get this far after over 3 weeks of emailing back and forth with a leasing representative. I would go almost a week before hearing anything back and then it would be a complete bland robotic response that would not even answer any of my questions. I asked many times to set up a phone call and never heard anything back. I am in a bit of a time crunch here now as I have spent the last month just trying to get in touch with a reside representative, after three weeks I finally do get in touch with someone is when I find out about the previously mentioned fee, this took another week to get to that point btw. So after I express my disdain in the fee trying to be assessed I am alerted that this is non-negotiable, but after an email I receive back that the supervisor needs to be asked. I am still waiting as I type this to hear back from the supervisor, it has been 10 days. My thought is they have a policy changes must be made 30 days in advance, and because of how terrible the service was I am now within 20 days of the date my SO needed to be out of her apt. She basically has nowhere to go now. All in all this process was the worst experience I have ever had, I don't understand how the service industry can be so accommodating. I do want to give the benefit of the doubt that all this happened during COVID, but I was only asking for some timely email, which I would think is just part of the job. We lived in our beloved apartment on Clark St. for almost 3 years...until Reside took over. Their tenant screening process leaves something to be desired when a loud tenant moved in below us. After 4 written warnings, 2 calls to the CHILD's cosigner, 6 calls to the police and multiple attempts to "work it out" and "give them one last chance"....we moved out. Thanks for nothing, Mindy (building manager out of Belmont by Reside) In short, Reside boasts beautiful apartments and online services but they have ZERO policies towards eviction. read more

Requests are never completed, people smoking pot in their apartments and when you complain about it, their answer is, we'll if we don't see them what do you want us to do, UM YOUR JOB.. 3-4 car windows were broken and car went through and this is all in their garage that they manage or own and oh yeah no security cameras in the garage and they aren't responsible for any damages.. My husband and I have lived in two different Reside locations over the past two years. We have had great experiences in both locations. The ability to move between buildings is a wonderful perk. We currently live at 24 S Morgan. The building is clean and well maintained. The staff go out of there way to be helpful. The leasing agent Kati has gone above and beyond in her kindness and helpfulness. The maintenance staff are skilled and super quick to reply to a text or call. I'm at the 2727 property. I try to love this place. I want to love it more than it wants to love me back. Kelly Cousino (LOVED Kelly) was the Leasing Specialist I went through when I initially signed my lease in 2013. She left the company, and ever since she did, everyone seems really annoyed by any requests or inquiries I have. (And believe me, I rarely have any.) I'm moving out at the end of my lease due to increasing rent costs. They also nickel and dime you for every little thing. From a pet deposit, to pet rent, to paying for a storage locker, to paying for an extra set of keys, to a utility fee; just know the rent that's advertised won't be what you actually pay. Nice upgraded apartments, but for what it's worth, it's way to expensive. Someone different is the property manager or leasing manager every few months. I can't keep up. Peace out 2727. read more

I've lived in Reside on Clarendon for the past 2 years and I am about to renew my lease. We worked with Noel and she was awesome. I also see maintenance each morning cleaning the windows/floors/elevators (we have a TON of dogs in our buildings so it's nice to see them cleaning everyday), responding to our requests promptly, and our unit layout is great. Location is awesome too! A block from the lake and about 1/2 mile from Wrigley Field. The only reason why I am not giving 5 stars is because every year, there is always construction. And not just minor repairs. They are projects that carry on for months. And sometimes extremely noisy. My first year was the brick work that lasted all summer/fall and into spring of the next year. The water pipe repairs were taking longer than expected. The one elevator is about to be repaired for the next 10 weeks this year. And some of the rooftop chairs are broken as well. Again, great place to live and the staff is helpful. Just a few things here and there to deal with but that does come with the cost of living in an older building. read more

I have lived in three different Reside properties over the last six years and never had any problem. I've lived at Reside on Irving Park for the last four and a half years and not had any issues until today. I lease a parking spot from Reside with an assigned number and a tag with that number on it. I came home this evening to find a car parked in my spot, so I called the concierge to have the car towed. A tow truck showed up, but the car was not towed from my spot. I was forced to park blocks away and walk when I pay for a spot just steps from my door. The concierge called me back and said they will not tow the car and I should park in one of the two open spots. My response was that this was not acceptable. Relatively recently, property management made a big fuss that if you did not have your reside parking tag properly displayed and were not parked in the correct spot that you would be towed. So I am supposed to risk parking in a spot with a different number than is on my tag when for the entire time I have lived here that has been against the rules? Not OK! It's been more than four hours and the car is still in the spot that I pay rent for. Given how much the customer service has declined over the last couple years, I would almost guarantee that if I did park in a spot other than the one listed on my tag my car would be towed. It took over two months to get a dishwasher fixed because no one that works for Reside knows how to communicate anymore. I will not be renewing my lease. read more

Reside Living has a good racket. They buy old, crappy buildings, put nice looking, yet cheap, finishes over everything (to hide the crappiness) and then list them on an attractive website that is honestly the best thing about the company. They must be doing something right because they've at least doubled their properties in my three years with them, but their buildings and apartments are not nearly as chic as the website makes them out to be. As I said, I lived there for three years so my experience was not completely terrible: the apartment layout was great, the maintenance staff was always prompt and my last property manager, Derek, made a positive impact and provided some much-needed stability after a string of seemingly transient property managers. Despite the sense of community Reside tries to portray, I always felt like I was just a teat from which Reside was trying to squeeze all the milk. There was a pretty substantial rent increase every year and they even implemented a utility program on top of a rent increase to make residents pay for gas and water, which were both free upon my moving in. I can understand having to pay for gas, but I've never ever heard of a landlord in Chicago making its tenants pay for water. This isn't Arizona. Reside spun this as a conservation effort, but that is beyond laughable. "Oooooh, it's conservation! Good golly gosh, I thought it was about money. Silly me!" The best part about this is that the apartments didn't even have individual meters so Reside implemented a shared utility program, called RUBS, that calculates your bill based on apartment size and occupancy. That doesn't sit right with me and programs like RUBS are illegal in a number of states, but not good ol' Illinois. This is especially rich since we had no way of regulating our flow of heat in the winter. Here's a list of the problems I had at Reside 707: - After signing our lease I did a walk through of the newly finished apartment. I noticed a huge bubble in the dining room's wood floor and was told there was nothing that could be done. Reside said that's just what happens when there's an uneven subfloor, which is complete BS. Two years later, they installed these hideous strips in several places to keep the floor down because floors were coming up in other apartments. Thank you, cheap and lazy contractors. - Giant cockroach came out of a bath drain within two weeks of our moving in. I never saw another in the apartment, but saw some from time to time in common areas. - A rat that came into the apartment via a hole behind the stove. I lived on the third floor and had a goddamned rat. Reside shrugged it off and fixed the problem by duct taping the hole. That's right. DUCT TAPING THE HOLE. I wonder if Reside tried to make Mr. Rat pay his share of utilities.... - Not an even wall in the whole place. Because of this, almost every closet door would come off its track and there was nothing that could be done to fix it. - Ancient air conditioners. If you really want to conserve, Reside, you can start by replacing those. But that would require YOU to invest instead of your tenants so that's not happening. - Only way to control heat in winter is by opening/closing windows. The baseboard heaters were falling apart and none of the the flaps to supposedly regulate the flow of hot air worked. See above note. - Giant compressor on the 1st floor that shakes the entire building and could easily be heard/felt in my 3rd floor apartment. Above note applies here as well. - Building security is nil. The lobby is somewhat secure, but the parking garage door is left open on a regular basis as is the door from the garage into the building. After reading what I just wrote, I should be giving Reside one star, but I'm giving two because I was dumb enough to stay for three years. I hate moving and liked the location and layout of the apartment, but the quality of the apartment, the lack of value I felt living there and how little Reside actually cared about my business motivated me to seek greener pastures. Don't be fooled by the website folks, or you'll be paying a lot of money for the same subpar experience. read more

While I enjoyed my two years living at a reside property, I really can't overlook the decent-at-best management. Customer service, responsiveness, attention to detail, and communication are NOT strong-suits here. I loved my apartment, building, and the neighborhood; Overall I will remember my home here very fondly because I had a lot of space and I was very comfortable, but I feel disappointed in how the place was managed. As others have said, lack of accountability was apparent. I repeatedly requested shoe covers to be warn by maintenance staff in my unit, and many months after repeated conversations, continued to find mud tracked through my apartment and staining my bath mat. While the lobby was nice and clean, the stairwells were disgusting and unattended to. It often felt like reside was "checking the box" rather than doing a great job, and it was disappointing. read more

I have lived at the building called Reside 707 in Chicago (Lakeview neighborhood) for 11 years. Up until December of 2015, I really enjoyed the company; however, since then I've had a very negative experience. A bad winter storm in late Dec. 2015 caused our building's roof to leak a large amount of water inside of our building's walls. There was a lot of internal water damage and my apartment was affected. Mitigation began, but the 1-1 communication about what was happening (or going to happen) inside of individual apartments was very poor. One or two mass emails were sent out, but I received no individual contact. I came home from a holiday vacation to find half of my entire apartment packed up and moved into my TV Room with no communication whatsoever from Reside 707. My things had been touched? Moved? It was terrible. I couldn't locate my bathroom toiletries for 72 hours. On top of that, 7 large machines filled up my kitchen, dining room, front coat closet, and bathroom area all of which were running on my electricity bill 24/7 for 6 days total. It wasn't until I reached out to our Building Manager and Regional Property Manager that anyone even inspected the condition of my apartment and knew what had occurred. It also wasn't until I informed Reside 707 that I would not be paying their large electricity bill that they scrambled to come up with a plan (that took 3 business days). Another day, I came home from work to find an unlocked and unattended apartment. I was absolutely livid. For a company that reassured me (numerous times) that no work would be done unless it was supervised by Reside 707, I was irate. All of my lights were on and Reside 707 work materials were left on my floor, but no one was inside of my apartment. So now we had our building garage open, building door to the garage open, and my apartment door left unlocked and unattended by the building engineer and workers. Highly unprofessional. I've reached out to Reside 707 over and over again demanding to know why they think this type business is acceptable. I've received responses back, but no one is taking any ownership or making any changes within Reside Living. I have since filed a poor review and formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau of Chicago. I am asking for rent reduction until my apartment becomes livable again. I will not clean up their mess for they will do that themselves. Right now I have missing ceiling panels exposing wooden beams and cement bricks with electrical wires hanging out, missing wall panels, and god only knows what's growing inside of those water damaged areas. Do I have to worry about my health now too? The machines are gone, so I can sleep again and live in normal temperatures, not blazing desert heat. The manner in which and how this whole situation has been handled (or passed around and not handled) is what bothers me the most. No integrity in this company. I have been told repeatedly that Reside Living is "unable to give rent reductions or rent credits." Meanwhile, I'm paying $1769.00 a month for an apartment that is unlivable. I don't buy it. My next move will be to contact the Illinois Housing Department as well as the CEO of Reside Living (which they refuse to give me the contact info for). Good Luck! read more

Tons of unanswered emails, they charge $50 for a spare key (they refused to give me a second key even though I have a 2-bedroom) and they require background checks for additional keys even though the Butterfly app they use to unlock building doors is not secure. They allow maintenance crews in my apartment when I specifically said: do NOT enter when I'm not home. I am a current resident and have lived at Reside at 849 for the last three years. Reside at 849 is managed by the Reside on Irving Park leasing office and their communication skills leave much to be desired. It normally requires several follow up phone calls and email to receive any response and the details of the communication are often forgotten or lost. It is unfortunate that the Reside on Irving Park leasing office offers such poor service. Our apartment is lovely, but it is difficult to feel valued as a tenant when the leasing office does so little to help. It is time to consider a new property manager. read more

At reside on clarendon, Things look pretty nice when you first move in to your apartment . Over time you'll discover enough problems to make you regret the choice. All the radiators clank incessantly during the winter which makes sleeping, studying or working very difficult. There aren't enough washers or dryers- and they're relatively expensive compared to other places I've lived. Also if you want air conditioning its 200 dollars to rent a small crappy one that will barely keep you're apartment tolerable. Oh and don't forget that that if you get locked out its 75 dollars to have them unlock it. Bottom line is that their apts aren't a great value and on top of it they nickel and dime the hell out of you read more

I live in a building on Belmont that was taken over by Reside about a year ago. Once Reside took over the building, they increased rent to new tenants by $250-400 in certain cases. While Reside has started to give the building a facelift by rehabbing the lobby, workout room, and apartments, they have not addressed the plumbing (regular water shutoffs) or increased the square footage of the apartments. Management has been difficult to deal with at times unwilling to do anything about noise, drug use, and smoke complaints. The only good staff member is our maintenance guy who was a carry over from the previous management group. Reside Living definitely does not feel welcoming or like home. This is a management company that misses the boat on so many factors. Bottom line is Reside Living only cares about money and nothing else. I would hope no one makes the mistake I made of signing a lease at a Reside building. read more

Like EVERY other reviewer, I had a terrible experience with Reside Living. Xan (Alexandra) and Katrina have an unprecedented lack of respect and professionalism when dealing with tenants. After living there for a year and asking them 4 times to change it, they still could not get my cosigner's email address correctly. They verbally assaulted me and my cosigner separately in different conversations because they couldn't do simple clerical work properly. Additionally, I had to submit a lease extension 3 times (twice via their horrid online application system and once via fax) before they got it taken care of correctly. Any decent agency would not be sending you accusatory emails to inform you that you are moving out in a week because you didn't sign a new lease after you already signed the paperwork 6 weeks before. Additionally, with no warning, when I needed to extend my lease for a month, they ended up hitting me with several hundred dollars in charges that were never previously discussed. The apartment I lived was superficially nice, but they hired the worst contractor in Chicago to manage the renovations. The hardwood floors split in the winter, their were holes in the closet walls,and the caulking was incomplete, molded easily, and looked like it had been done by a 4-year-old finger-painter. In my second summer, wasps were appearing in my apartment. Maintenance (the one redeeming factor) came and couldn't find where they were coming from. I was actually told that I was making the infestation up. I caught one alive to show them and made them come back. They discovered that there was no insulation between the air conditioner and the wall. To be more clear, there was a 1" by 12" HOLE TO THE OUTSIDE OF THE BUILDING IN BOTH ROOMS. I had been paying probably 20 dollars a month in lost energy costs. I could go on and on. While nicer than any offerings by the other major rental companies, don't be fooled by the appearance of the apartments. They are not as nice as they look, the apartments are expensive for the quality, and the administration is incredibly awful. read more

Based on the overall Yelp rating, you know how this story is going to end up, but let me continue to tell you this lovely story that is Reside on 2727. The moment I moved in, I realized the floor is not leveled (cue the How I Met Your Mother episode with the crooked floors). Don't mind that as much as the other issues, but figured it should be noted somewhere. In addition, there are cockroaches. As many emails as you will get saying they are doing pest control maintenance, you will find semi-dead cockroaches just laying there. From personal experience of trying to kill them with my Swiffer, they will stay semi-alive. I understand that living in the city, roaches will be an issue, but I should not expect to see them as much as I did. The hardwood floors look great, but you will hear every single movement your upstairs neighbor makes. Nothing beats a nice 5 am wake up call to your neighbors getting ready for work. I'm sure my downstairs neighbor has a lot to say about the noise I make too, sorry bud. The "utility" package includes probably the worst WiFi speed known to man. Maybe I'm spoiled and I expect too much to have this site called Netflix to stream an episode of Friends after work. Maybe I should've gotten one of those free AOL disks to get better internet. The biggest reason why I refuse to sign to another Reside apartment is that my apartment started flooding and the situation has yet to be resolved after weeks of calling a maintenance request. As someone who does not live on the 1st floor, I would expect my apartment not to flood from "excessive rain". Oh cue MORE COCKROACHES when that happened. You know what the best combination is: mud, rain water, and dead/alive cockroaches flooding your apartment. Again, I feel bad for my downstairs neighbor who's ceiling was leaking at 10 PM on a week night. The Reside Yelp responses to these reviews are quicker than actual emergency maintenance issues being resolved. To really prove how much Reside cares and what truly is my favorite part of this whole experience is that I have been getting several emails to renew my lease by the manager "handling" my situation. Comical that Reside can send out these emails so quickly and frequently, yet I could barely get a manager to call me back to learn that my plumbing situation can arise at anytime with heavy rain. Oh I forgot Chicago has the best weather ever and the chances of that happening are 0%! Priorities, am I right? All in all, you're going to get tired of looking for places and will be tempted to live here. Great location, everything looks new, but do not fall for the trap people. We all are using our hard earned money to pay for a place to live; it's not worth it. The value is definitely not equal to the amount you will pay every month. Find a better place, you can do better. A little update for my review above. Flooding occurred yet again. I have no words or energy to even describe how I feel. It's been a solid month. Nothing has changed. Truthfully, the most well maintained apartment I have lived in. Issue? Ticket filed and resolved the next day even on most weekends. Question? Answered promptly. Apartments? In great shape, decent amenities in a good area. This is for Reside on Sheridan 707 but I have heard good things and have see many of their other properties. I unfortunately had to relocate for work but I had 3 leases with them and would come back to them if I return to Chicago in a heartbeat. Good value decent space and the windows do not let a lot of noise in. I know this cuz I barely anything in my apartment. Reside Living leaves something to be desired when it comes to being personable, and making you feel like your "home". Reside recently purchased our building on Clark. They made some changes that were positive, but only geared toward the new tenants they wanted to bring in. They are charging more than $200 more for the apartments with no remarkable upgrades. The studios are the size of a closet. Then they decided to not renew the lease for the current tenants. Reside leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to residing with them. read more

We've lived in our building on Buena for 7 years through four different management companies. Reside took over several years ago and we were fine under the previous manager, Stephanie. Now they want to raise the rent $152 for a total of $1210 per month for our 1 bedroom apartment when neighborhood rates top out at $1100 and their own website lists a maximum rate for our building $1135. Their justification is that this was the rate approved by corporate who apparently hasn't noticed that our electricity goes out with almost every storm and we frequently have the water shut off for "plumbing problems" in the building. When we offered to negotiate, the new manager, Chuck, told us to "be frugal" and refused to negotiate. Apartments across the hallway (2 bedrooms) were raised to over $1500.00 per month and have since been vacated by all the long term tenants. I can't even begin to express how disappointed we are with how the new "manager" is handling this building and I feel truly sorry for any new tenants who move in. This used to be a community building with regular cooking events and social activities, now, all of the old tenants are being forced to move out. I would be very careful before signing a lease with this company at this point. read more

I love Reside! I've been with then almost 2 years now and the service is amazing. I've always been able to get assistance when I've needed it and the apartments are beautiful. They offer so many amenities even outside of just living in your apartment they provide a community to make new friends and just overall have a great experience in the city. I originally lived at one of the apartments in Lakeview (429 W Melrose) and then transferred to another building. My roommate moved so I had to leave quickly and instead of going through the headache of breaking my current lease with Reside they allowed for me to transfer to another building since I'd been with them a year. They were great through the entire process and answered all of my questions. I honestly don't know where I would be if the management wasn't so good. read more

i'll state that i've lived and searched for apartments all over the country and have been with several different management companies. all in all, reside is not my favorite, but it's also not the worst management company i've ever had. the buildings are nice, clean, and reasonably secure. customer service leaves something to be desired, but after 3 property managers and a bunch of different staff assistants in less than 1year, this group is finally bearable and actually responsive. our elevator has been down for over a year - which is insane and i was not informed of this when i moved in - but before they'd just write letters, now i've actually seen the crew who's supposed to be fixing it working around the clock. i guess i'm not sure what people are expecting from a management company and trust me i've had my battles with these people, but i honestly don't think reside is the worst. (for that please see becovic ) so if you're looking for a super friendly outgoing welcoming management company that goes above and beyond, go somewhere with a doorman. if you're just looking for a nice apartment building and can handle a rotating varied at at times frustrating staff, reside will be ok for you. read more

I had a horrible experience with Reside Living and I am glad that I will not be living in any building under their management. I put my name on the wait list for Reside on Irving Park several months ago, and called their office multiple times between now and then to check on my status. Each time, I was told that there was not a one-bedroom open yet, but they were fairly confident that one would open up by the time I wanted to move. I also confirmed that the price would stay the same once the unit was rehabbed (listed on their website as $975-$1100). I was assured each time that it would be the same, and that if it went up, it would be a maximum of $50-$75 per month. I finally received a call from them yesterday letting me know that a one-bedroom had opened up in the building of my choice. We began discussing when I could come by to see it and finalize my paperwork, when I once again confirmed the price of between $975 and $1100. They told me that the price would be $1330 and acted like I was being ridiculous for being surprised at such a jump. When I said that they had told me multiple times that the price would not go up that much, they responded that they were never planning on having one-bedroom apartments there for under $1200. I understand that rehabbed apartments are expensive, but they lied to me repeatedly over the phone regarding price points. I am now scrambling to look for another apartment to live. I wouldn't want to live in a building under a management company that works in that manner. read more

The building on 520 W. Wellington is beautifully maintained. The maintenance man, Hugo, is awesome. However, the staff for Reside--not so much. I enjoyed my apartment but as far as Reside the company, I was not impressed. They continually increased my rent each year significantly and also charged a different price for my parking spot than other tenants (more money--is that even legal???). I had a dispute with another tenant in the tiny garage spot located under the building, which I call the death garage, and no one would help the situation. The other tenant actually did damage to my car. Reside did nothing. They charge for EVERYTHING and they nickel and dime their tenants. I wouldn't recommend renting from them if you do not intend to spend a lot of money. I came in thinking heat was covered (radiator heat) and they began charging $60/ month on heat and water. That was not communicated before I signed. Beware if you are tight on money. You will end up spending A LOT more here than you originally signed for. read more

My overall experience has not been pleasant and I would love for all of my money to be returned and I would like to have a free opt out of our lease. The price you pay here is too high for the area. They claim it is Lakeview and it is actually Buena Park, which is very different. Nothing to do around this part of town. Reside offers free internet, however, it is not very speedy, you cannot even send an email and we have had to pay out of pocket for our own personal internet. This is the case for many residents, and therefore should not be a selling point for the apartment. We were promised parking when we moved in in December but did not receive a parking spot until May. Then, Reside Staff parked in my spot during the day and the maintenance crew lost the key for a whole month! Reside did not offer parking at a discounted rate, instead I had to park in an extremely less convenient spot, and the Reside team took no responsibility for it. Additionally, when we first moved in we had a time set-up to come look at our apartment, when we arrived the person who handles our apartment was not even there and another lady had to take care of us. She was completely unprepared and basically rushed us out of the building, we had to force her to show us the laundry and bike room. She had no knowledge of our account, and no knowledge of any business exchanges. We felt pressured into signing the lease even though we could not move in for a couple of weeks. Since moving in, we were NOT told of a renovation of the apartments in our building, we have had a dumpster behind our bedroom window for a month, with workers constantly smoking and leaving trash everywhere, as well as working later and earlier hours than city ordinance. DO NOT MOVE HERE! This has been the worst living experience of my entire life and I am sad that I have to pay more money to greedy people who do not care about their customer. Get me out of here! read more
