If you are considering living here, read this first. I was charged $300 for two blinds upon move-out, described as "custom-made" and damaged beyond normal wear and tear. I have attached the photos they provided as "evidence". You can judge for yourself whether this justifies full replacement. Over multiple email exchanges, management could not describe the specific damage in writing, could not provide documentation proving the blinds were custom, and when I requested an invoice, admitted they did not have one, meaning I was charged before the replacement was even completed or documented. Draw your own conclusions about how this management company operates. And if you really have to live here, document everything before you move out, photograph every inch of your unit, and know your rights under the Chicago RLTO before signing anything here. p/s: What makes this worse is that none of this came after any prior notice or conversation. Their very first communication after my move-out immediately threatened collections and credit bureau reporting if I did not pay within 30 days. Whether this is intentional or simply a failure in their notification system, I don't know. We recently moved in and were very grateful to have found April to work with when signing our lease! We stumbled on 215 W walking around Chicago after an apartment walk-through fell through and are so grateful. April's positive and accommodating attitude made the whole process seamless from start to finish. When we first moved in, we put in maintenance requests for very minor issue and the Team fixed the issue the same day. The building is kept clean and very well maintained. My only complaint -- and this is due to location, not the building or its staff -- is that the L is pretty loud, especially during rush hour. However, overall, would definitely recommend this building to anyone looking to live in the city of Chicago. read more

I requested an apartment and got a studio. It did not accommodate the plans I made. The studio apartment was nasty. It had what looked like dog feces on the door and wall. There were no clean towels. There were no face towels at all. I reached out to the management and they simply said there were no clean towels. No refund or discount was offered. The bed linen was also dirty. It smelled and had stains all over it I had to wash it. The futon was stained and smelly as well. There wasn't even a dish towel in the apartment The furniture was damaged and there was no soap. It was completely awful. Nothing was said even when I sent pictures and proof of the damages. There was no professionalism. I'd never stay here again or recommend to anyone. Not even my enemies! I was totally embarrassed and highly disgusted. I took pictures and have proof. Don't book here, period! read more

Never went there, but quiet disappointing with the booking process and follow up. I booked a room at this place via booking.com for a week stay and had to cancel for personnal reasons and also because I'm starting to worry that the borders won't be open in september for european tourists. Anyway, I cancelled in the due time for a complete refund that was supposed to arrived 30 days after cancellation: still waiting. Tried to call several time, no one ever answered and when I had a chance to leave a voice mail I was never called back. Poor service, to bad, I would really have consider rebooking this place that look nice for a futur travel. read more

We have just moved in and have had some good experience so far. The place is exactly what we've been looking for in terms of location - downtown with lots of cafes and shops nearby and a short distance to the riverwalk and lakefront. The staff is very nice, the maintenance team is very quick - we had one issue and it was easily fixed on the same day. The apartment has nice renovated interior, and it's quiet here. I work from home, and I do not hear any noise except for maybe some trains and traffic outside - but that's pretty much everywhere the same if you live in a big city. They do not have the best bike storage here- it's a tiny room with only a couple of shelves (for such a big building), not super convenient to "park" your bike there, and the spots are not assigned to residents. This was not on our priority list anyway when we were looking for the place, and we have only one bike per family, so that's OK. In general the impression has been good so far, we like it here. read more

And the plus is their staff, super kind and very attentive.. whenever, and whatever is the problem you're facing in your place, they'll make sure you get help with. I also moved in last summer for the short 5-min commute to work and I love the building, especially the gym and the other services. Staff is friendly too and I generally think that management is trying very hard to get things right here. About these winter electric bills: I live in one of the 700 sq ft junior one-bedrooms and my bill is about $140/month, a little higher than I expected but not unreasonable considering it was only $25 in the summer. Plus there's no water, gas, or trash bills to worry about. One thing I wish the apartments had was a programmable thermostat, so I wouldn't have to remember to turn down the heat before I leave for work. They aren't expensive and I suspect I could probably get my elec bill to sub $100 if I had one. Not to mention dozens of pretty cool hotel bars with late-nite snacks. Two minor complaints, which I would solve myself if I was an owner rather than a renter: (1) the wall-to-wall carpeting is unnecessary - should have done the entire floor in wood, or at least the faux-wood veneer that covers the entrance areas. (2) The closet doors are pretty cheapie. Major positives: washer/dryer in every apt, floor-to-ceiling windows, big kitchen with nice appliances, big bathrooms with vanity drawers, lots of electrical outlets and cable/phone connections, terrific amenities - a great gym, a movie theater, cozy biz center, good party room and terrific pool & bbq/grill deck (in the summer). Have had nothing but empathetic and efficient service from this complex. Outstanding staff and clean location always on point for the building . Attitudes when dealing with tenants is always upbeat even when facing rude people getting yelled or belittled they still keep their composure and hold their heads high and give the greatest level of respect back. There are people in this world that write bad reviews because they are unhappy in their lives and unhappy with not always getting their way although they are the ones that dont give common courtesy or respect to any workers wether here or around the corner at Starbucks no matter what they will complain and try to get something free or compensation in any form . Pros: - Lot of space for your money in the area - Quiet, almost never hear anything through walls - Really nice renovated interiors, carpet feels very quality, can get hardwood for extra per month - Gym is serviceable, lots of dumbbells up to 100lb, could use a cable machine with pull up bar - Maintenance quick to respond - Pressbox dry cleaning - Can get packages on your own from locked room, means they are available almost as soon as they arrive Cons: - Expect more than $200 per month for electric in the winter (1BR kept at 65 degrees). I love this place. I moved I. About 4.5 years ago, a transplant from Miami and did not know the first thing about Chicago. Over those 4.5 years and two apartments I could have not been happier with 215 West Washington. Between the responsive and kind nature of the staff to the wholesome Christmas and Halloween decorations in the elevators for the seasons, they treat their residents well. It's with a sad goodbye that I move to my new place, but could not recommend them more! read more

Update: the fact it took Diana six months to respond is a perfect example of how careless the management staff here are. I'm delighted to say we're moving out this weekend! We've lived here for 2.5 years for two reasons: we got put here by the company that moved us, and the location. It can't be beat- walking distance to everything and all train lines. When we first moved here the resident activities were fun and varied (wine tastings!)... now they're cheap and awful (cold burgers in the lobby). The service received has noticeably deteriorated too. Last year it was "the package room is too busy, we'll deliver it for you!" This year it's "pick up your package in one day or we're sending it back" They offer no rewards for resigning to stay in the building, except a 20% increase in your rent that is! ! The gym is moderately equipped, the classes are at inconvenient times and not as advertised, and the heating is permanently on with no controls available so the yoga classes are a sweat fest, not in a good way! The only saving grace (besides location) is the maintenance team. They're so quick to fix your problems and so friendly, I have to mention them! Would I recommend it to a friend? No. read more

My wife and I have lived here for 8 months, and we love this property! Penelope and Mara are correct. We looked at numerous properties in the area prior to picking 215 West and there is not anything that comes close! The staff is fantastic! Paul clearly has not been here very long. Our utility bill for a 2 bedroom unit averaged $80.00 for the 5 months prior to turning on the heat. Our utilities will average $150.00 a month. Try to beat that anywhere! I highly recommend this property to anyone looking to lease anywhere near the Loop. I do not work for or have any connection with the ownership or management. Although, I will say that the staff in so professional, thoughtful, courteous, and thorough, that I would be honored to have them as part of my organization, and I consider them all my friends. read more

Moved here in Feb 2014. I rented a pet-friendly studio through Chicago Property Concierge (www.chicagopropertyconcierge.com), a short term housing provider. The studio is a comfortable size and is fully furnished. I loved that it came w all kitchen, bath and bed accessories. After spending the last 12 years moving around a lot - the little things can get really expensive and virtually useless when you leave. You can only find use for so many irons, toasters, etc. The furnishing is nice. Makes it feel less temporary which I've come to hate over time. The only suggestion I have is better beds. A comfortable night's sleep is imperative. The amenity floor is a decent size. It's got 2 separate rooms one that looks a bit like a cafe while the other that's more like a lounge. There's a pretty fantastic gym. There's also an outdoor terrace that I can't comment on since it's been closed due to the weather. There's a small cement dog run which is okay for a quick bathroom break for the pup but it isn't enough room for the dogs to run around and play. Besides bcuz of it small size and the number of dogs in the bldg it almost always smells of pee although it's cleaned everyday. My Shiba Inu won't play there cuz of this. Also, very few of the residents are comfortable letting their dogs interact w other dogs. There are plenty of dog parks in the neighborhood if ur dog needs more outdoors time like mine. Everything you need is within a 2 block radius. Plenty of restaurants, pharmacy, 711, dry cleaner (although there's also one in the building). It's located in the financial district so most of the businesses close by 8pm. I was surprised to see McD's closed at 8. Overall, this is the perfect place to stay for someone looking for a homey, quieter, pet-friendly place in the heart of downtown Chicago. read more

Great place to live. Love the location, the gym, and the door staff. I live in a 2 bedroom apartment and I love the views. It is very quiet at night and on the weekends. Great place for someone that likes to sleep late on the weekends. My only complaint is the dry cleaner / package room. The prices at the dry cleaner in the building are outrageous. I recently took a sport jacket to be cleaned and was told it would be $20. I took it across the street and had it cleaned for $8. The package room tries really had to keep track of the packages but sometimes they seem overwhelmed. read more

I moved in 2012 to 215 West from Arizona after getting a job in the Chicago Loop and I could not have chosen a better place to live. The staff at 215 West was incredibly helpful in getting the exact apartment I wanted, securing all of my utilities, helping with moving, and getting me settled in. I have since renewed my lease and plan to continue doing so because of the stellar service, incredible amenities, excellent location, and gorgeous living spaces. Whether you are looking for a corporate or long-term rental in the Loop, I don't know of a better place to call home than 215 West. It's the little details that really stand-out like how you can always expect a hot cup of coffee at the front-desk in the morning or the incredible parties that are thrown for guests on a nearly monthly basis. And don't even get me started on the 14th floor amenities; a billiards room, a full-sized theater with free popcorn, spa services, an outdoor kitchen, and a top-notch gym are just a few of the perks. When my friends and family visit, they would rather stay in and enjoy the 14th floor than go out and venture into the city - it's that nice. read more

This change, in conjunction with the free yoga classes offered biweekly for residents, has led me to bump up my star rating to 5 for 215 West. Well done, 215 West. One thing that could improve is the relatively frequent shutting off of hot water during the daytime...what's the deal? It seems too frequent for a new building to need such frequent repairs. There has to be a way to perform those repairs overnight when 99.9% of people won't be needing hot water. Still 5 stars though... read more

I've had a great experience moving into my studio at 215 West Apartments! When I first walked into the building, the person at the front desk was friendly and the process of picking up my keys to my room was pretty smooth. My apartment has really nice views of other buildings in downtown and the big windows allow for a perfect amount of light to come in throughout the day. When I first walked in, the apartment was super clean and I was given a really nice small welcome package! The leasing manager, April, has also been the most helpful in helping me get settled into the apartment. I've been communicating with her constantly via email to ask any questions I had and she has always been super quick to respond and provide the best guidance. I've only been here for about a week and everything has been so far, so good. Overall, I am really happy that I get to call this place home! read more

My friend and I rented an apartment here for just under a week while we were in town for Lollapalooza. We did not get to use many of the building amenities, but I can comment on the size of our studio and the location. If you NEED to live for a short time in the heart of the city, by all means, live here! Everything is shiny and new and well-furnished with wifi in the building and great lobby staff. However, our studio was pretty cozy and had an odd lay-out. The kitchen basically occupies one wall, and the closet, bathroom, and bedroom the other. BIG closet, beautiful big windows, awkward spacing. I felt like I was washing dishes in the bedroom and sleeping in my kitchen. Weird. The location is pretty damn central. Just around the corner about 100 ft is the washington/wells loop station for the L train. And the blue line to O'Hare is a 2 block walk. There is not a ton of food open late in this area, but on the plus side it's quiet at night and a short walk to the park. If you are short-term renting like us, it's an excellent place to be! read more

We LOVE living here! The location of the building is perfect, just a walk to work. Our apartment is gorgeous with tons of closet space that we desperately needed. The building is always very clean, well kept and the maintenance guys are always prompt to any request we ever have. Mark is especially always friendly and even knows our dogs name which makes us feel like we finally have found the perfect home. :) Working with the leasing staff was pleasant and made finding a new home enjoyable and stress free. So, I felt I needed to update my review since my last one was when I just moved in. Having lived here for several months, I have nothing but great things to say about this building! it's located in a very nice neighborhood with almost everything you need like a CVS right across the street. There are also several restaurants in the area and a 7-11 on the corner (that actually comes in handy many times since the area closes down on Sundays). There is an amazing amenities floor with a decent sized gym, a pool, a billiards room, several lounge areas and to top it off, a theater room with projection screen! The staff is extremely friendly and helpful at all times. my only complaint would be how close the building is located to the L Train stop at Washington & Wells. Depending on which side of the building you live, you will here the train. not to worry though, it's loud enough to hear but quiet enough that it won't really bother you, especially at night when you sleep. read more

To be completely honest the amenities are nice; however, it's nothing special compared to most high-rise residences located in or near the city. The thing that other properties don't have is an average electricity bill of ~$300.00. So what I'm saying is when you're considering moving into this place make sure to price in an extra couple hundred dollars per month for the utilities. I cannot find the words to describe the amazing staff here, when I moved from California Jack was so extremely helpful and I rented the apartment sight unseen and he went above and beyond to help me finalize the paperwork from California. I ended up in the hospital in June and am unable to work, I am working on disability and have been unable to pay full months rent this last month, this management has worked with me far beyond their required limits, they are a group of kind hearted and caring people. If you dont rent here you are missing out, the amenities are beautiful and the staff is PHENOMENAL and real people with real kind hearts, I am going to be forever indebted to them and I am sure their success is going to be so extreme as they are genuine and caring. We moved to Chicago last July and 215 West was the perfect place to stay. Although we were moving from a whole other country and continent (Ireland), the leasing office made it possible and so easy to rent a beautiful apartment. In particular, Chloe and Rachel were wonderful and really made our transition to Chicago so smooth. Pros: Location Facilities Doorman/doorwoman are very friendly too! Huge walk-in closets As our lease was due for renewal, we have chosen not to continue our stay at 215 for a few reasons: New management just doesn't make resident service a priority -I received email asking why I was late with my rent when they did not record it -There was no advance notice of window cleaning in the last week of June and I had to kick my under-dressed husband out of bed to close the windows before the carpet got wet! -Small things but things that residents take note of! New utility fee being brought in. This is on top of electricity, and Comcast. Whilst other downtown apartments charge a utility fee, there is no Comcast on top of the fee as the TV service is provided as part of the fee. Overall, this is a great place to stay still but there are just so many other fantastic options nearby which give more for your buck. read more

As with other posts, there is a lot of positives about the building that I definitely agree, but I will mention the 2 negatives that I currently have. Negatives: - dog friendly. Yes, but there needs to be more than a subpar concrete dog run about 10 x 20 other than that no other place. My biggest complaint is that I have dog that is less than 10 lbs and i was never told the large sun deck is pet free until after I bought the dog. I understand the reason, but this should be publicized every where and well known. I think they need to ease the rule by saying dogs on a leash are acceptable. This would allow me to grill and let my dog get fresh air. - bike room- way to small and not very convenient. They need additional options without those awful bike rails. A simple bike rail would be great for everyday access. Other than that-keep it up: wonderful building, amenities, office staff, and management! read more

My wife and I moved in last summer and we've had a great experience so far. I work in the loop and the location is outstanding. My commute is a few minutes and we have easy access to restaurants, the theater district, all the night life we'd want with river north, and easy access to Union/Ogilvie/the red line. The kitchen is spacious for an apartment, bathrooms are nice, and the windows let in plenty of light. The part I've been most impressed with is the soundproofing / insulation. I can count the number of times I've heard my neighbors on one hand. Moreover, common areas are clean and the amenities I use (gym, theater room, pool) are all brand new and functional. The desk staff are pleasant. Rent and parking rates are competitive with the area. To Paul's point, our electric bill averages around $120 and peaked at $150. Not too many apartments in the Loop were able to assist us but the staff at 215 was very helpful and was able to get us a short term unit. We loved it there, we wish we could have stayed longer. My son had to relocate from LA to downtown Chicago within a two week period and I was put in charge of finding him someplace great. After an exhaustive search thru Yelp and reading over 100s of reviews, 215 West was the clear winner. Ashley was extremely patient and happy to answer my millions of questions very quickly - I feel like she works around the clock, she was never not there when I needed her. We made the decision without ever leaving home and at move in, I was happy to find that 215 West exceeded my expectations. We love the apartment! The building is beautiful, the staff is attentive and friendly. The finishes in the apartment are great - roomy kitchen with plenty of cabinets and counter space, the bathroom is huge, as is the closet and the floor to ceiling windows provide awesome city views, which only get better at night. It's well insulated, we hear nothing from the apts surrounding us or from the city beyond the windows. Everyone is friendly, it's close to everything and Chicago is a great city. There are flowers everywhere and the city is very clean and walkable. It is amazing how accessible everything is here. All in all, great apartment and city! read more

Just renewed the lease for the 2nd time. The staff are all amazing, from the friendly front desk attendants to the super nice leasing office team and maintenance team as well. Everyone gets to know you and always has a smile and wave. Even if the maintenance team is in the dog run at 7am when the dog has to go out, they will smile and pet him. The building itself has all the amenities you would need, great gym, business center and outdoor pool on the 14th floor. The pool is the perfect spot for a nice evening libation with some cheese and crackers. It's a green oasis in all the concrete and steel of city living. The leasing team does a good job with events, pool parties and movie nights, and several others throughout the year. The property itself is perfect for most people's needs and not once in the past two years were there ever any issues with the team here. Even today, before writing this, there was a fire alarm in the attached garage, so the elevators were temporarily down while the firefighters investigated. While residents were waiting to be allowed to use them again, the front desk and maintenance team calmly handled the situation, while the leasing office brought out cold bottled waters and sodas for residents. Anyone could just go about their business as usual in a situation like that. But they go above and beyond to make us all happy. Highly recommend! read more

Overall 215 is a great place to live. The staff is great, and maintenance is always very responsive, as well as the leasing office. Overall the amenities are ok, the gym could use some updating/expanding but other than that they are pretty good. I love my unit, it's very spacious for a studio and having in-unit laundry is the greatest thing. It's not the most modern building, the finishes aren't the latest and greatest but it does have stainless steel appliances which is nice.
