"It was the biggest house in the neighborhood. Ten bedrooms and a swimming pool, Most exclusive residence for sale." (The Kinks) Yes, it was a little challenging to find. It's hidden in plain sight inside an office complex, among a dozen office buildings. One weird thing we learned was that there is almost no parking spots near the door you use to check in. We parked on the side and paraded our suitcases around the building to check-in. This also could be challenging in bad weather or with elderly or stroller aged fellow travelers. But once we made our way to our room, we really loved the Residence Inn by Marriott Reading. We were upgraded (thank you Marriott Visa) to a two-room suite with two bathrooms, two bedrooms, a big kitchen and a nice Living room with a big flat screen TV, a couch, and a work desk. Our bathroom had one of the biggest and best hotel showers I can remember -great water pressure and temperature. Points off, though for the crummy single ply toilet tissue that must have been 4 microns thick. For our included breakfast, we saw cold cereals, yogurt, oatmeal, pastries, juice, waffles and packaged breakfast sandwiches. Would I have liked some fresh fruit for my cereal? Of course I would have but Covid has put that on hold, I guess. All in all this place was fantastic.

The noise level alone was unacceptable - honestly worse than a kid-focused resort like a "fun dome" environment. There were large team groups staying at the hotel, and the staff made little to no effort to manage them. On both Saturday and Sunday mornings at 6:00 AM, coaches and teens were running through the halls, loudly pounding on every door to wake their teams and using profanity and racial slurs. Despite clearly being an adult business traveler, I was repeatedly disturbed until I had to yell through the door to be left alone before threatening to call the front desk. That should never be necessary. Beyond the noise, the overall condition of the property was disappointing. The bed sagged noticeably, the AC unit appeared to be filled with mold as did the room itself, wallpaper was peeling, and the air in the room felt stagnant with an unpleasant, almost rotting odor. The paid food options were underwhelming at best and not worth the cost. As a Hilton Honors Gold member, I expected at least a baseline level of recognition or service, there were no meaningful benefits acknowledged during my stay. While I did receive a verbal apology and was offered a refund for one night, that refund and any associated points were never actually processed, which only added to the frustration. Lastly, the surrounding area felt questionable and did not provide a sense of safety. The surrounding area is not safe Overall, this stay fell far below expectations across multiple levels noise control, cleanliness, service, and follow-through. I would not recommend this location.

Everyone we met was nice. The check-in went smoothly. Both front desk clerks were very kind. She did apologize for not having a room on the ground floor, but put us in a room near the elevator so I didn't have to walk far. The snacks and drinks were reasonably priced. I was very surprised and happy by that when my sugar dropped unexpectedly. The room was clean, spacious and updated. The beds were super clean. I always wipe off everything and there was no extra dirt on the wipe. The 24/7 coffee was AMAZING! The machine grinded the beans and brewed it fresh. Check-out went quickly. Cons: Nothing is perfect so I do have a few cons: Breakfast was not pleasant. It is a large hotel and the breakfast room was large but the area they had the food was not. They of course are not responsible for the incredibly rude people we encountered but I do feel they need to make the room with the food bigger to keep people from crowding in. I am not sure if it was because it was on a weekend but I got frustrated and we ended going somewhere else to eat. Which was irritating because we didn't count for that added expense. Small room issue- The bathroom was really small and the toilet was right in front of the door. I am fluffy and I had to sit on the counter to open the door. Not much you can do to fix that, but just be aware. All in all my daughter and I loved it here. We will definitely stay again!

He even asked whether I preferred a room near the elevator or far from it and which floor. The room was comfortable and came with the appropriate amenities. The only criticism that I have (which is common to most hotels) is that you can hear it when people above you are walking around. I will definitely stay here the next time I am in the area.

The lobby was ratty, the hallway carpets were dirty. I knew we were in trouble by the mountain of cigarette butts all over the entrance and Family Guy playing on the lobby TV. Now don't get me wrong, I love Family Guy and the more..."crude"....the more I like it but totally unprofessional to be playing on the lobby TV with young families around. The room I had, 325 (I believe), was less than clean. Cracks and drippings on/in the walls, about 2 inches of dust all over the "kitchen", the grout in the bathroom was grimy, as was the floor and hair in the shower. I love dogs too but I don't want to hear them barking constantly, either like I did here. Overall the room and property were severely lacking in overall cleanliness and just general maintenance/upkeep. One of the other guys traveling confirmed ever IHG he'd ever been to was a dump too. Next time I'm in the area, I'll stick to the Courtyard Marriott we stayed at the last time over on N. Park Road, I stayed there back in November 2023 and it was phenomenal.

Seriously, there is nothing close enough you can walk to, so if you stay here, you'll be jumping back into your car to head out for a meal or shopping excursion. But having said that, we had a very satisfactory stay here. It started with plenty of parking spaces, a complimentary goodie bag at check in (cookies, pretzels, and water) and also included complimentary lobby coffee. Our check-in process went smoothly, our room was very nice, with a good-sized desk/workstation, flatscreen TV, excellent HVAC and WIFI, comfortable bed, surprisingly big bathroom and a good shower. The included breakfast was more than adequate, with a waffle station, scrambled eggs, sausage, oatmeal, three cereals and toppings, bagels, apples, bananas and yogurt. We were very satisfied with our stay and the value. Improvement Opportunities No breads, English muffins, pastries, etc. Bagels or Bust! Our bathroom door didn't really close without a struggle. It was swollen and needed a good old fashioned hip check to wham it closed.
