Our stay here was great, they gave us a room on the 6th floor which is perfect for us because I hate hearing people above me. It was nice and quiet and the staff was really accommodating. We called ahead and they said the pool but heated but actually the room where the pool is is heated, not the actual pool so that was a bummer because my kids love to swim so they only got to do that for a short time before they were shivering. Breakfast was okay, no waffle station but we still were able to find something to eat. The milk they had expired on the same day so that was a bit concerning but that's my only complaint. I had a lovely rest here last week after a long shift in Skokie. Too tired to drive home, and I always keep a swim suit/pajamas/extra set of work clothes in my trunk, so I spent $140 for a cozy little sweet- with a real kitchen- and sitting area. I napped then hit the pool which was AWESOME. I loved swimming in the indoor pool solo for about an hour. It was silent and calm, no music, no noise, no people. Bed was super comfy. Great shower. FREE parking!! The free breakfast was great, too. The eggs were cooked perfectly and I was able to get my cranberry juice and banana, too. Oh, and the little cinnamon muffins were delicious. Best decision I made last week. Some nights you just have to nap after work, skip a long commute, have a swim, and head back to work in the morning a whole lot less cranky after a good night sleep! read more

Stayed here for 5 nights. While the staff were very friendly and the facility was clean...it is pretty 'dated' and needs an update. A friend tried to sleep on the pull out sofa and that was a big mistake. First there was almost no room to pull it out. Second it would have been like sleeping on springs. My husband and I have been staying at the Wilmette Residence Inn each summer for one month, usually August. What makes this hotel special is the services offered and the staff. The manager of this hotel is outstanding, She runs this hotel with kindness and organization. Her name is Katherine. She has been here since we began coming in 2017. The rooms are always clean due to the schedule created which has someone cleaning the room each day. One day is a thorough cleaning and the next is taking out garbage, new towels in both bathroom and kitchen, coffee, and more. Each room has a small kitchenette with stove and large refrigerator. The Staff is so kind and willing to help. Only complaint is the internet service was not always working in our room. My husband had no problem with A T&T but Verizon was on and off. Here for our first night, with a co worker - separate rooms. The hotel is all you need on a business trip. Simple, clean, updated enough. Breakfast is included here. The front desk service at check in was great. Very nice and welcoming. Rooms are spacious with a kitchenette, living area, nice bed, and a decent size bathroom. I can usually count on Residence Inn's for a business stay and this one does the trick just fine. Me and my girlfriend wanted to visit Chicago and picked this hotel for the breakfast and pool and both were closed and they didn't tell you it was when we booked it and when we asked if there was breakfast at the front desk he said there was and we went the next morning and they just gave you a juice and a fruit. The room we got had a kitchenette and it was nice looking but the dishes had food stuck in them and the coffee pot had a nasty base and there was mold in the cracks of the shower. There was other people's hair in the towels and there were specs on the sinks like dirtiness. The bed will definitely hurt ur back. Very disappointed in this hotel. We are not coming back. We stayed two nights 9/28-9/30/19. We had a nice spacious room. Toilet was full of toilet paper and there were a couple pieces of black residue on our bed sheets but we just flushed the toilet and brushed the residue off of the bed. The bed in the room was comfortable but the pillows didn't not smell fresh and the sofa bed's mattress was extremely uncomfortable as you could feel the springs. Breakfast and lobby atmosphere was good. I'm giving 4/5 stars because I was impressed with the staff's readiness to be helpful and friendly connections to patrons. Vicky at the front desk especially stood out as someone who was warm, personable, and enthusiastic. I would recommend this hotel for the service alone :) read more

I stayed at this hotel for a work training session for 3 nights and truly enjoyed my time here. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. They have BBQ in the lobby on Tuesdays, which I took full advantage of, and the complimentary breakfast was exactly what you'd expect - fruits, juice, coffee, some hot plate items. The lobby and breakfast area were clean and tidy. I honestly enjoyed the room more than almost any other hotel room I've ever stayed at. The room was an "apartment-style" layout with a kitchenette, open to a lounging space with couch and desk, that opened up into the bedroom area where there was a large bed and you could walk through to the bathroom, which was very spacious and had a walk-in shower. I even roughly measured the whole thing and it was about 300 square feet, so right on target for a studio apartment. The bed was very comfy and the furnishings were nice. I spent most nights on the high top bar stools at the kitchenette counter working making myself tea, as the kitchenette was furnished with a coffee maker, tea bags, coffee packets, and even a microwave popcorn bag. There was some dishes, silverware, and a cooktop, so you could cook if you wanted to. Upon check-in, there was a welcome packet with a Lyft coupon and explanation of all the amenities and details for my work training. My training company coordinated well with them, it appears, and it felt like they and the hotel worked well together to provide a great experience the entire week. Even if I wasn't there for training, I would love to live in a little studio apartment like the one I stayed at. read more

This hotel has been by far the best travel experience this year for a very frequent traveler. The staff members are so well trained, friendly, courteous and competent. They anticipated my needs wonderfully. The perfect customer service experience! The amenities are lovely- full breakfast buffet and tonight when I checked in there was a musician playing the piano and free cookies, cupcakes, coffee and milk available at the bar during happy hour. Plus the suites have a full bedroom, living room/office and almost full kitchen with dishwasher, garbage disposal and full fridge. Beautiful huge modern bathroom. Stayed here for a few days (12/26-12/30). We got a 1-bedroom suite. The room is spacious (king bed in one room, sofa bed and chaise in another room); kitchen has full size fridge, 2 burner stove top, microwave, toaster, pots & pans, dishes, glassware, utensils... everything you could need for a short hotel stay. The complimentary breakfast was decent, but just be mindful of the time they close - they close down the serving area at the exact time stated, and you're not allowed in after that. They do, however, leave out coffee and water. The few members of staff we interacted with were friendly and accommodating. Location is close to the highway and Old Orchard mall. Would stay here again if in the area. read more

First time staying in this particular Residence Inn in Chicago but the experience was smooth and with no issues at all! We were traveling from Cleveland to Chicago for about 8 hours, arrive at the property at 9am and was told they were sold out the night before which we totally understand, came back at 11am and a gentleman on the desk gave us no issues upon checking in and was very sympathetic that we have not had any rest for over 8 hours. He also told the girl at the front desk to make sure we have everything we needed (I am assuming he might be the General Manager or the owner). So happy with the experience with this property. Location is easy to drive in and out and the facility is very well taken care of. All staff were courteous and friendly. As a Silver member, I expected no less from a Marriott property but it is always so nice be welcome and taken care of, no matter what. We will definitely be coming back to this location for our future trips to Chicago. Keep up the good work!!! read more

I was a guest at this Residence Inn for almost two months this summer. Yes, you read that right. A guest. I was treated kindly, professionally, with smiles, with courtesy to an outstanding facility and its offerings for a substantial amount of time. I had an amazing suite with a couch, full refrigerator, oven, etc. to call my own AND access to: free Wi-Fi, the pool, workout room, front room, BBQ, outdoor spaces, breakfast seven (7) days a week, snacks, drinks, and desserts some evenings, kind people who would help me find & locate restaurants and other businesses (I am a city person, burbs throw me off) as well as a host of other things I am forgetting. I miss many of these things now that I am back in my lovely home. I would like a personal chef as well as some very kind, knowledgeable people who are around when needed! My accommodations were CLEAN, NEW, and HUGE! The front lobby and atrium area were beautiful. Three other things must be said about this property. 1. My pets could stay with me. This was an incredible comfort to me but by no means meant the hotel suffered. There were no dogs in the lobby, grounds were clean, barking was not heard throughout the hotel. I cannot stress this enough. 2. The location of the hotel is not typical. It is tucked back into a side road next to office buildings, off to the far side of an access road. This keeps it quiet. There is a close highway, that NEVER bothered me. An enormous, high end, outdoor mall is very close. This mall and the sprawl that accompanies it served all of my home, personal, grocery shopping. and restaurant needs. I rarely traveled more than 1 mile for these matters. 3. My needs were more than met. I arrived at this Residence Inn knowing I would need a place to call home for some time. I had few belongings, two pets, AND a list of things that were pretty essential for me. Everyone rose to the occasion, I came to learn that this behavior was typical for this location. Even the billing was simple for me (yes, all of it). All of the staff- management, front desk, kitchen, maintenance, cleaning, made my stay incredible. When we arrived at the hotel we were told that our room had been canceled because the people in it were not ready to leave. A room was available for us 7 miles away as a substitute. We made this reservation six months ago for this specific location because we had no car and had many events in the area. We have never experienced anything like this before. We were very appreciative of the fact that there was a woman standing behind us in line who gave us her room so we could stay here. I had several bugs in my room. See photos. I told the General manager and she took note of it and apologized but didn't compensate me in any way for what was a very sub standard stay for Marriott. I am an elite member and stay at many Marriott hotels including the Residence Inn line. This is the worst room I have had in terms of cleanliness. Staying here was beyond horrifying to say the least !!! I'm normally loyal to Hyatt but since i use my Amex Card & Am Ex merged with Marriot , i had some points which prompted me to give this place a chance!! As a Rule , i normally avoid Marriot Like the plague since my past encounters with the Marriot Brand have consistently been lacking on so many levels . Needless to say this was no exception , the costumer service are lack luster , & even though the employees attempt to accommodate there guests , when push come to shove , they DO NOT have your best interests whatsoever . When we First checked In , i wanted to believe this would be the one time a Marriot experience wouldn't be a disappointment since service seemed tolerable . During our 5 day stay , even though the price was substantially higher then the Hyatt which is by far much higher end , i stayed out of convenience due also to the convenient location , close to my fathers home . Well on Christmas Eve when i was in the process of debating whether I'd stay another night or head to my much beloved Hyatt in Deerfield , i had my mind made up for me through the front desk . After i had proceeded to book another night through reservations , my daughter & i continued to the lobby , on our way to exit the building to do last minute Christmas Shopping. We were interrupted & not able to leave , due to the manager & another employee , insisting we must switch rooms & furthermore had been lied to by manager & was told they were SOLD OUT , even though , i found out through the reservation specialists that couldn't have been farther from the Truth . Well it just got uglier & uglier & we ended up packing our stuff & leaving after they wasted several valuable hours & sucked up precious time we needed to get important last minute Christmas errands taken care of!!! There attitudes & behavior was unacceptable , unprofessional & completely rude beyond anything i can verbalize , absolutely worst ever hotel experience , not to mention staying here felt like being in a geriatric Homeless shelter , very depressing place & lacking any kind of welcoming atmosphere . I'm @ Hyatt Deerfield now receiving the most incredible costumer service , much better breakfast & just all around superior service !!! So glad to be out of that H... hole read more

I absolutely LOVE this hotel! The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. I stayed in the cheapest room available and it was huge and modern and completely equipped with everything I could need. Even a dishwasher! And a real coffee pot! The breakfast bar totally had my number, with plane Greek yogurt cups, brie and fresh fruit, along with all the usual fair. And Happy Hour was a wonderful treat with several wines and beers along with a salad and pizza. I booked here by accident, thinking it was closer to Evanston than it was. But it still only took 15 min to downtown Evanston and 25 min to O'Hare (at 7pm) and it was convenient having the Westfield Mall right around the corner when I got bored. Otherwise there really isn't a lot around. But the cost and quality make up for a bit of a drive to get somewhere relevant. I only have one complaint: the bed was really firm, not quite to my liking. I will definitely book here again if I need to stay north of the city. read more

This is the first time I have ever written a yelp review, and it is well-deserved. I was put up at Residence Inn for a Xylem seminar. My room was great! It was clean, had plenty of room, and was quiet. The hotel staff was friendly and accommodating. There is even an evening happy hour with free beer and appetizers Monday through Wednesday. The only down side to this is the limited beer selection (only Stella Artois or Miller Lite), but free beer is free beer. Joe, the afternoon front desk guy, is awesome! Someone give that dude a raise!! All-in-all, this is the hotel I'll be choosing to stay in any time I come to Chicago. read more

I ran into an issue at this hotel while my family and I were staying there that frankly should have been trivial to address. Instead of fixing this simple issue, the staff was condescending and disrespectful, refusing to even acknowledge the discomfort that was being experienced. I can guarantee that I will never stay at this hotel *EVER* again and I'm not sure I will be as loyal to Marriott as I have been for the last 20 years of my career. Tucked away by itself here north of the city. The hotel is only two years old and it is immaculate. The guys at the front desk are Fantastic. I've stayed in Residence by Marriott before. This place is top notch. More than pleased with the price and the rooms. Open the door to your room and relax after a long day of travel. I recommend you try this place. Hotels can be hit and miss. I had the best customer service experience ever at this hotel! I have to admit, we were a little leery staying at this hotel because we felt their restrictions were a little extreme. But the front desk gentleman, Agha, completely changed our minds. I had to do laundry and had some issues with it, he gave me quarters out of his own pocket so I could do it! I was drinking wine while I waited for my laundry, well he wouldn't hear of it me drinking from the paper cup and he got me a nice wine glass. I needed more pillows but they were out. Agha went upstairs to try to find more for us! He brought down two extra! I've stayed at a lot of hotels but I've never received the attention, patience and kindness Agha has shown. If we come back to this area, he is the reason we would stay here again. read more

Very convenient location, easy to access the expressway or old orchard. Decent enough rooms; comfortable but nothing fancy. Front desk staff was very pleasant and went out of their way to be helpful. Weeknight happy hour and breakfast daily (included in the price) are a nice bonus, especially when traveling with children. Pet friendly with poop bag dispenser, convenient garbage cans and plenty of grass to walk them on. Also located near a forest preserve for longer walks. We'd stay here again. read more

I would've loved to give this a better star rating but the 1 problem we had during our stay stands too crucial to look beyond. The hotel is beautiful, modern, and very pleasant. The room (studio) was wonderful, spacious, and had great amenities. I was able to utilize their exercise room and was more than happy with that experience; great equipment! The staff was extremely friendly and very attentive at all times. Their daily breakfast was exceptional and had many different options! The unfortunate downside for us and our experience was that housekeeping was awful. They poorly made the bed (I'd rather make it myself?) They did not wipe the sink, counters, floors, tub, or general area. The carpet clearly showed they did not room a vacuum across it either. It appeared they only came in to dispose of the trash and throw the covers back up towards the top of the bed. I admit, a female with extremely long hair, my hair was all over the floor and it remained there until I used a towel to whisk it up. During our stay at 2 points we were in the room when housekeeping arrived and when we requested certain items needed for our room they did not have the items available on their cart. Now don't get me wrong, even the housekeeping employee's were friendly, but their performance was completely low to me for the type of hotel this is established. Again, I wish I could've given a different star rating because this place was wonderful, aside from cleanliness and that's just a strong point for the type of person I am and I might just be hard headed with that one. This is a fairly new hotel so there isn't a huge amount of visitors yet! But my family and I stayed here during Northwestern graduation season and it was a perfect experience. 10 minutes from campus, extremely new and clean, includes a full kitchen! The fitness center is 24/7 and the pool is open til 11pm! The workers here are super responsive and kind! Great time! read more

This was a very nice hotel we stayed at for a wedding. It's suite style, so if we had to spend more time here this would be nice for one person or a couple to have a mini kitchen available. There's no real big division between the rooms so if you're staying here with someone but want privacy it's probably not the place for you. Breakfast in the morning was fantastic, fresh waffles, pepper and egg mixture, yogurt, lots of options beyond your standard cold cereal and bananas. I wanted to notify your readers of the awful experience our family & friends had with this hotel. The one and only negative experience in the entire wedding weekend was our interaction with this hotel an in particular its manager, Kali S. I have never had the experience of working with such an unhelpful, rigid and unaccommodating "manager" in my life. She and her staff have apparently never been taught even the most basic customer service rules and/or skills. Our family and friends seemed to experience disappointment & frustration at every turn. Here's a list of some of our negative experiences. 1. My brother and his family tried to reserve a room for the wedding months ago, they were told because they had five people in their family they were not allowed to stay in a room. Unfortunately, even though we used them as example of people wanting to book a room, we were never told that a family with 3 children would not be welcome at your hotel. My sister-in-law spoke directly with the "manager" Kali S., but she was offered no solutions or suggestions. Not being a hotel manager, I would still have to guess there were options such as offering a two bedroom suite, separate rooms or even a cot. They were just simply turned away! Because of this my sister and and her family chose to stay in the other hotel with them so that they would not be alone--therefore they lost additional customers. The good news is they had a satisfactory stay, though it wasn't at this property. 2. At least two of our wedding guests went to check in on the day of the wedding and were told at the time of check-in that the hotel had been overbooked and even though they had booked those rooms in the wedding block months ago, they did not have rooms and would be put up in a different hotel 10 miles away. My guests told us that the staff did not even apologize. 3. My son missed the cut off date to book a room and when he spoke to Kali S. via the phone he put her on speaker so I could hear the conversation. She said she was sorry she could not offer him a room in the block but that she could offer him a room at the hotel for $900 a night. The block fee was $139 therefore there was a room available but she was attempting to price gouge him which is unethical and unprofessional. But I guess he probably wouldn't have actually gotten a room anyway, right? Or was it that they just bumped the people who booked at the block rate for people paying more. I have to think that this is the likely scenario here. 4. My son-in-law had booked the conference room to get ready in at at the hotel with his groomsman. Kali S. had my daughter complete a banquet event form in advance so that they could serve lunch in that room. Despite that form & their agreement, the staff would not allow them to eat their sandwiches and the entire large group of men had to retreat to a guest room to eat and get ready. That conference room was another reason we had chosen that hotel. Did they double book that too? 5. The groom's parents booked a pet room with its additional fees. Their room smelled strongly of animal. Why do they charge extra if they don't bother to clean the pet room thoroughly? Manager Kali S. and her staff were some of the most unprofessional and incompetent people I have ever had the displeasure to work with. Due to this completely negative experience I will never stay at another Residence Inn hotel but will suggest to anybody and everybody that they avoid this chain. In particular, we have shared this negative experience with our wedding venue The Michigan Shores Club staff (who initially had recommended them) as the hotel was the only blight in otherwise lovely wedding weekend. There are many options, why in the world should we choose theirs? I would suggest they take a good look at how that hotel is being run and how people are treated there. Based on the depth & breadth of our complaints & the lack of any attempt to improve our customer experience, some basic training seems in order. Our complaints to Marriot, and both directly to the sales manager Kali S. and the general manager Kathryn O. fell on deaf ears. We were never even offered ANY TYPE of compensation for this horrendous experience. In fact Kathryn O. opened our conversation with "what do you want me to do about it" and never even offered the most basics of an apology. FIND ANOTHER HOTEL FOR YOUR WEDDING GUESTS! read more
