    Jake’s 58 Casino Hotel

"A lively, open, and lush oasis of formative thinking and progressive opportunity"…read more This is what my Groupon said about Jake's 58; and after traveling many hours in hopes of meeting Jake himself, I was looking forward to having a relaxing and beautiful middle-island escape for my family and I. What my Groupon SHOULD'VE SAID was that I was going to be greeted by a brutalist-adjacent superstructure, bereft of any fresh air. That I would be surrounded by hundreds of mindless consumers - all being herded through a small corridor that gave way to a deprived corporate shell ripe with dissimulation. The carpets were exhausted. Maybe we weren't far from Cape Town after all. Gambling is against my religion, so I walked around and met a few of the 58 Jake's that I read about online. They were all very nice. While I enjoyed my stay, I will likely not return in the near future. Great breakfast

This is the East Coast version of Circus Circus, and that isn't a good thing. In fact, this is the…read moreshortest amount of time I have ever spent in a casino. I did one lap upstairs, one lap downstairs, and I was gone. I didn't even buy a drink. I'll explain why. This is a very low-vibrational environment. Most of the people here are using government money to try to hit big on slots. Either that or they're hard-working (much respect) low-pay and throwing a Hail Mary. With dozens of reports of extremely tight slots, they're just throwing their money away. And, as always, when a casino has tight slots, they're usually very cost-conscious and don't put much effort or money into upkeep and cleanliness. To be blunt, this place is nasty. On top of that, the parking lot is an absolute disaster. I had three people cut me off for a parking spot within three minutes. Then, while walking toward the building, I guy in a big black pickup truck sped as fast as he could and pretty much let me know he would hit me if I tried to pass. But ... as he passed me, his engine blew. I don't what the hell it is but every single time someone does something bad to me or tries to cross me their life is ruined. Contrary to popular belief (in circles I travel), I never even do anything. I just act like I do and say I do so people will chill the hell out and let me be. But my middle name should be Karma. I'm walking freaking chaos. I don't get it. But I don't mind it either. Anyway... This place sucks. Never go here. Perhaps it would have been better if it was Jack's 58 instead of Jake's 58. With Jack, you have Jack The Ripper, Jack-In-The-Box, One-Eyed Jack, The Jackson Five, Jack And Jill (buck and a quarter), Jack-O-Lantern, and the list goes on and on. With Jake, he's a guy that wears khaki pants with sneakers, glasses, has three strands of parted hair, and goes to accounting conferences. Regardless of name perceptions, this place is very low vibration. If you know what that means, then you know to stay far away. I gave two stars instead of one due location and good security.

I thought o myself: 'No way that's from the elevator.' Well ... sometimes your paranoia is reality. I did strike it up to paranoia and got on the elevator. A lady was also on the elevator from a higher floor and we got off in the lobby. Not like that, bro. I didn't even know her. About that lobby departure, we exited (is that better?) and there was a crowd in the lobby complaining that they had been stuck in the elevator for 30 minutes. The staff told everyone not to go in the elevator. This would be like if you met an escort and didn't know it was an escort. You thought it was the girl next door that went to church four times per week, kept in touch with her family, and baked blueberry pie for homeless people. But you later found out the real her. With that info, you got checked out. All was good. And that meant you rode that elevator for free. Shaky and rattly one too. Absolute insanity. It must be the 4.2% abv Yuengling beer: a traditional lager! Btw, that freaking pool closes at 9 pm, and the casino around the corner is dumpier than Circus Circus in Las Vegas. The hotel gym is cool though. With all that info, if you stay here, you're an idiot. Have a nice day.

Front desk is understaffed relying on one young man. He was unable to get off the phone call from a whining resident. Best to book online for best pricing.

Water pressure is better than most, bathroom lighting is decent, but no exhaust fan for any exhaust you may have. Landry is on the bottom floor. 2 washers and 2 dryers, $2 for a wash cycle and $2 for a dry cycle. 1 of the 2 elevators are out of service, and there are 7 floors. Be prepared to wait a bit. Hey party people, the parking lot fills almost to capacity if you roll up after 10pm. NOTE: they are now charging for parking. The breakfast includes "push button" pancakes, mini cinni rolls, egg/meat/potato chafing dishes, yogurt, juice... you know, the standard fare. Interesting find: you can rent a fire stick for $20/day at the front desk, and they have a computer & printer for use in the business center.

The front desk staff was so kind to give us extra water bottles daily. The maid service was excellent!! I had even left very expensive rings on the dresser not having realized it until we returned that evening & they were still there. I would stay here again in a heart beat!

Unfortunately, this hotel falls short even by those standards. The entire place has a musty smell, and our room looks like it has been neglected for quite some time. The wallpaper is detaching from the walls, the thermostat is barely attached, and there are hooks left on the wall where I assume a picture once hung. The carpet is worn to death, and the cabinet housing the mini fridge looks like it has seen much better days. Even more concerning, there are wires coming out from underneath the carpet and running to who knows where. The bathroom has what appears to be mold on the ceiling, which takes this beyond simply being outdated and into a basic cleanliness and maintenance issue. Thankfully, we're only here for the weekend. At this point, we honestly can't get out of here soon enough. I would give this hotel zero stars if the rating system allowed it. Unfortunately, it doesn't.

We had a king bed studio room and the room was the perfect size for our extended stay. All of the staff we interacted with were extremely friendly, professional, and welcoming. The hotel had a decent array of free breakfast each morning. They also had an indoor pool, basketball hoop, and plenty of parking. The hotel is also right around the corner from the Long Island Ducks field. They ended up playing while we were visiting, so we made an impromptu trip to watch a game and had a quick and easy walk to the stadium. Our stay at the Residence Inn Long Island Islip/Courthouse Complex was more than we expected. We would definitely return in the future if the price was right.
