I think Roberta Romero had a good experience here but probably no one else. As many have said here: The people may be nice sometimes, but they are not qualified. There are no medical professionals on staff. They purport themselves as a "dual diagnostic center". Their help with my eating disorder was to make me sign a contract saying I would no longer engage in it. No help. Unclear on why didn't I just think of this earlier? Damn me. I was afraid to leave my room because every time I did my clothes and other belongings would get stolen. When we were in group and people started breaking down crying and naturally people wanted to help: You weren't allowed to give them Kleenex. Not sure what purpose this serves. Their version of therapy is having a Friday night doing each others nails. Or watching Jennifer Aniston movies which would drive anyone back to what they were doing. They accused me of taking drugs I didn't take: And did it in front of an entire room full of people. Not take me into an office which I think would be the normal responsible response. After I blissfully left I called my roommates back and they told me that the counselors told them again what I was accused of and said my family when they defended me was "in denial". There was just a wealth of HIPAA violations here. I transferred to Lakeside Milam. They weren't that great either but they were a little bit better. Food was okay. read more

Reading the reviews, I notice they are either bottom scores or top scores so overall a low average. This may reflect who was able to deal with their alcoholism. I was an inpatient at Rez 12 years ago and for me the miracle happened. I set myself free of the merciless obsession. I now have 38 years clean and sober. Since I tried and failed to get sober on my own going to meetings (my drug of choice was pot, but also overdid it with alcohol) it wasn't until I was in the bosom of Res XII that, writing and sharing my own first step, I saw the truth of what I had been doing to myself, and the truth set me free. So happy this place is closed down. Karma is a bitch:) Res 12 has no place to talk and counsel about addiction. The counselors put all members in a circle room to pull out names from a hat and tell that person how they will never succeed and they will release and then what that would look like. It was horrifying. The staff had no knowledge of withdrawal. I met a women at Swedish detox prior to us both going to Res 12 and after multiple concerns I had they did not listen. This person went from walking, talking and engaging, to not getting out of bed, to loosing bowel and bladder control to dying. I bolted out of their after 2 weeks. It still haunts me to this day. I am sober NOT because of this facility. Also, they wanted money money money. The uneducated counselors would tell people they don't know if they would release them after 28 days despite what was told before. It felt worse than jail. Each employee who retained their jobs here should be sentenced for unlawful, unethical, negligent practice. read more

This the only rehab for women. Yes the only one. I've seen countless women get sober because of 12th Rhes. Rehab isn't a cake walk. You need to do the work! Rhes 12 lays an excellent foundation for women to build on. Shocking that there are so few treatment centers by gender due to the fact that trama is at the root of addiction. Painful tragic stuff that shouldn't be shared in a mixed sex rehab. So bravo to Res 12 for helping so many. read more

I was saddened to read of the hurtful experiences some ladies had at Res 12. I was there many years ago, and found it to be an extremely cathartic, educational and warm environment. I had a few issues, including a seemingly narcoleptic primary counselor, and the staff was accommodating about my concerns. I was pretty toxic, thought I knew it all, and got into it with another counselor. I had a lot of anger, ego, and false self esteem. By the time I left, after a mere 28 days, I had a completely new perspective on the disease of addiction and myself. In retrospect, it's challenging when there is a group of very toxic addicts under one roof, 24/7. We come into this environment, bringing all our behaviors and attitudes that haven't been working very well. Anger and blame are the easiest and most comfortable route. Change is hard work. We come to treatment feeling shame, unworthiness and carrying all the hurt and pain in our lives. Is it any wonder we feel people "hate" us, or think less of us? It's heart breaking. I say, Res 12 is a safe, healing environment and I would absolutely send my daughter there. I learned so much in that place, and it's still with me today. It was such a good experience in fact, that I was motivated to go back to school, and complete my degree and then go on to become a CDP counselor myself. I wanted to give to others what I had learned at Res 12. Let the healing begin! read more

As a women Res xii was the best decision I ever made for myself. I found a place to heal myself and the skills I learned gave me a concrete foundation to become the sober women/Mom/wife/daughter/sister I am today. I completed inpatient, IOP and continuing care. Today I am over 3yrs sober! And I continue to give back to Res xii as an alumni helping other women by giving away what was so freely given to me. When I went to Res12 I didn't want to follow the rules. I was mad that I was there. What I know now is that my experience with the amazing lady's at res12 gave me my life back. I will have two years in a week and coming from someone who couldn't get 24 hours that is saying a lot. No one gets there because their life is going good. And following rules is hard for someone who didn't follow any rules for a long time. But don't listen to the bad reviews. They come from people who want to blame res12 for their or a family members disease. read more

Most of the people working here are callous and hardened, e.g., not empathetic or supportive at all. It's too bad. It would really help to have that kind of support in one's journey in recovery, but you won't get it here. One of the worst and downright awful counselors there is Amanda. If you do end up at ResXII, don't get Amanda and if you do, try to change. Women have different needs in recovery than men and you'd think a place that services women only would be able to figure that out. But, my experience there was just horrific - the antithesis of what women really truly need to recover from alcoholism and drug addiction. read more

I was there several years ago. It was a disorganized place without leadership. We were told that we had to wear shoes to walk down the hallway. Then I saw a resident manager walk down the same path I did, barefoot. The people they have on night shift think they are guarding prisoners rather than patients. They are abusive. Don't go there if you can avoid it. I am sure their recidivism rate is high. You can get rid of your addiction, but not there. read more

I just phoned here looking to get information for a friend. The woman who answered the phone had zero interest in helping me. I told her I was calling on behalf of an friend and wanted to get more information on their rehab programs and what their availability is. Her reply to me was...."uuummmm, what do you want to know?" That was they ONLY question she asked me. Needless to say that the call was short. I will not be recommending this place to my friend as first impressions are everything and woman who come here need to be ensured they will receive excellent care. read more

I didn't want to believe all the negative reviews about ResXII until I actually experienced the horror of BEING at ResXII. From day 1, the staff had an arrogant and egotistical attitude towards me without my really doing anything to deserve it. When I started to stand up for myself, then it really turned dark. My counselor, Amanda, was more like a zombie cackling and drooling as she spit out her peremptory, presumptuous orders at me. When women get to treatment, we need someone to care, to give us hope, or to at least pretend that they have our best interest at heart. I never got that from Amanda - EVER; I got the exact opposite. It was more important to Amanda to be right and to assert her dominance over us all. It's sad that someone like that is working in the field of counseling causing more harm to patients. She shouldn't be. read more

I became sober at Residence Xii 10.5 years ago! Looking back on that experience I wouldn't change a thing. The staff can be tough but they know what it takes to break down walls and habits that addicts have. I learned a ton of information in the classes which was useful for me and others for when I got home. My room was nice and clean and food was always good. I loved the salad bar! I will always be grateful for Residence Xii for my sobriety. read more

My therapist actively pursued my entrance into the Res and was thrilled when I was accepted. As I am always confident in her choices, I was not overly nervous. As my mother in law dropped me off- before I could panic- I was whisked away by Marna, who sang as she helped me unpack. I met my lovely roommates, who became close friends.As I entered into the activity (classes had been cancelled) we watched the somewhat frightening documentary on Betty Ford. At dinner, everyone was kind and funny although the rules were gently reinforced. The counselors were all fantastic. The staff in general. Things I did, such as stepping away from eating disordered conversations, were noticed and often praised.If your behavior had changed from group to group your counselor noticed and spoke with you privately. The way in which you bond with the girls around you is mostly up to the mindset of the group, and our group was very dedicated to one another. Even after leaving the Res, I stuck and stick with the patterns and rules I learned in order to keep me accountable. I have strong friendships that I can instantly go to when cravings are especially difficult. Thank you to the Res, for all who taught me, helped me and supported me. It was an incredible experience. Friday August 17th, This goes out to Nicci. Thank you for your validation b/c I have a severe history of mental,emotional,physical abuse for many years which has cause me severe mental illness. It was the intolerance which made me feel angry. It reminded me of growing up with the Stepmom. I felt that with the women that they just could not stand the sight of me! And for some reason here in the Pacific Northwest these are some of the most backward people I've encountered even in 2012. I'm african american and I was THE ONLY one in the entire room. So I guess they must have felt scared for some stupid reason. Please inform your clients & staff that NOT ALL BLACKS are bad & we're not out to steal from them either. I was mad. One woman at the time who had a Farrah Fawcett hairdo was REAL RUDE to me! Kind of abusive I felt. My crime? I wasn't even bothering her I just wanted to go to the bathroom thats all but still the dirty stares & she said something mean which triggered myself which I regret. You see, these women need to set an example a positive one to ALL WOMEN! That no matter what color shape or size you'll be accepted. That sure wasn't the case for me. But Stacy S. tried to make me feel at home. But it was too little too late. I've lost my trust with Res 12. And I'm an alumn! read more

Residence 12 gave me a structured recovery plan. I was inpatient for 28 days and my life has been forever changed. I learned many tools from boundary setting, affirmation script ( better way to communicate with others) understanding that my alcoholism is a disease and that there is a solution . I highly recommend Residence 12 as a place for the physical , mental and spiritual healing of this disease. I owe them my life . read more

I totally agree with everything that Emma said. I had a a very positive experience at Res 12. Sure, there are rules but they are there for a reason. The only thing that I had a problem with was not getting enough exercise. The food was great but a little too salty and high caloric for me. However, there was always fresh fruit and salad available at each meal. You have a choice of what you eat and how much you consume. I met some wonderful people there that I am sure I'll be in touch with for years to come. I read a few negative reviews here and I would like to respond to them. There is a reason for a 5 day focus time, personally I was glad for it, I needed to adjust to my new surroundings and focus on myself. This program focuses on the patient not the parents of the patient. If a patient chooses not to include her family in her recovery the staff will respect her wishes. I did not see any discrimination at all, everyone was treated equally regardless of age, background, race or drug of choice. There were a few young girls that had attitude and didn't follow the rules, they complained all the time and by their behavior it was clear that they were not serious about getting better, they felt like they were entitled and didn't have to pitch in and do anything. They are unfortunate. While I was there 2 patients were moved to another facility that was better suited to them. They were very distracting and I believe they had a very negative on not only mine but others recovery. I'm glad that the staff made that decision. This is a place for woman who truly want to be clean and sober. I am grateful for the 28 days I had there. read more

Res 12 is a great facilty that gives woman the tools to successfully get sober. There are ruleds and at times they are frustrating but this is not the focus of what you are there for, if you can weigh all the positives you gain it is worth it. The counsellors are excellent, most of the management is very good and the new CEO appears to be very promising. Nurse Victoria is wonderful. The information is current, the food is not bad and there is a lot of laughter. The small group of woman creates strong ties that will last a lifetime. This was my second treatment center and hands down it was far superior and am I very thankful to Res 12 for my sobriety. read more

If you want hope, healing and strength in your addiction , it is here at residence 12 if you want it. Excellent lectures, group therapy, individual therapy and input from all your "getting sober sisters" It is an intense, fulfilling and renewing experience . The staff is excellent, the food is wonderful and wholesome. There is a fabolous family educational program , and my husband derived much information and understanding, as well as a support system for this cunning, baffling and powerful chronic disease of addiction. This place is horrible. My daughter went in and for the 5 days when she wasn't allowed to talk to me or anyone, I would call and was rudely told that "if something happens we'll call you". That is my daughter and I am going to call and check on her, esp. in a new situation like this. She was targeted from day one by another patient who for some reason just hated her, she was constantly snitched on although they are supposed to talk openly to each other, and was put on a "behavior contract" because she was on some meds that made her very sleepy and the nurse told her it was ok to sleep it off but they threatened her anyway. It seemed like everyday she was getting told "someone" said she was breaking the rules etc. but was never allowed to defend herself. Victoria the nurse was nice to us and that's about it. They don't allow sugar but serve SWEET AND LOW which is a CHEMICAL that causes cancer, how f-ing stupid is that. They kicked her out after 9 days of this BS because "someone" told the staff that she a'broke a confidentiality" when the patient had stood in front of the entire house and said something but when she asked what she supposedly said they told her "too late your mom is on her way." so she got no chance at all to defend herself. I'm not saying my daughter is perfect but it was so obvious that they did not want to give her any chance to succeed. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. read more
