It is very difficult to find a professional, responsive and honest roofing company in San Diego; however, Resilient Roofing is all three, plus some. My brother, who is also in the roofing business in VA), suggested this company after my husband and I already obtained multiple quotes on the replacement of both of our Duplex roofs. We knew we were going with this company the moment we were provided the quote. If you are in the need for a new roof, you will find out sooner or later that even if a roofing business 'seems' legit, there is always one aspect that falls short. For example, multiple companies are unresponsive after providing a quote. Others would provide the quote verbally, and expect a counter acceptance immediately thereafter. On the flip side, neither my husband or myself felt "pushed" into taking an offer with Resilient, nor did we feel like we had to manage exceptions during the process itself. After we scheduled initial walkthrough, the roofing consultant, Seth, gave us a thorough and detailed list of all the work required, and made any assumption or dependency very apparent to us. Mike, the production manager was extremely thorough on the job, and very responsive to every question that we had. It is hard to explain roofing terms/speak to people not in this industry, but Mike was patient in explaining every detail from start to finish. He even brought us up on the roof/sent us pictures of the old roofing structure to explain the job as it progressed. The entire staff was very courteous and professional as well. Even our tenants noticed how good of a company this was (they later told us how, after the job was complete, the team cleaned up every piece of debris and make the area look better than beforehand). All in all, you can either do things the right way- or you will end up doing them over again- and we have full assurance that Resilient did not let our hopes down. While we did not end up hiring Resilient Roofing, I am still giving them good marks for their customer service. The sales guy who came to my home gave me the pitch and was very up front on the costs. Also, for a free estimate, he was the most comprehensive of all the roofers I talked to (I talked to 10 roofers in San Diego), including taking multiple pictures of the roof and emailing me a report. They're an Owens Corning roofer so if you were set on that brand, I'd recommend them. read more

Edited and final review... With the above review plus the following... Had some ups and downs with Resilient Roofing. Called them on a Friday due to rain damage, they said they'd send someone but didn't. They finally started work the next week. When they were about to put shingles on, I pointed out damaged plywood from my contract. They stopped work, which was good. The supervisor promised to send someone to fix it. A few days later, they replaced the plywood and some fascia wood, like the contract said. But then they told me there's more damaged plywood than expected. They offered to put shingles over the bad plywood or I could pay extra for more new plywood. I mean, why put good shingles on bad wood, right? After the roof was fixed, they accidentally tossed my gutters, but replaced them when I asked. On final inspection, there were a few small things to fix, but it was mostly okay. A bit of a rollercoaster, but got there in the end. read more

Resilient Roofing did a partial Tile Lift and Paper Lay for us. Since we have not had a serious rain since job completion, we cannot comment on the quality of their work. The low grade we gave them is because of their inadequate customer service throughout the entire project. Although they were the highest bidder, we chose Resilient for three main reasons. They use a Peel and Stick Underlayment; their presentation was far above the other companies; they said they could finish by the end of the year. After we signed the contract in October, they told us that they would not start until February. Had they told us up front that February was our start date we would not have signed...and I bet they knew that. Except for bills and a couple of boilerplate emails, that was the last time we heard from them unless we initiated the communications. They provided no updates to our start date and did not start on the day promised, again without communicating to us that it had been changed. When they finally started, we were never contacted by our Project Manager (assuming we had a Project Manager) throughout the entire project, and no one on the crew spoke English. We understood that if they had to replace wood it would be an additional cost, but they never discussed the additional work with us, just sent us a $6,000+ bill. The crew damaged some of our wood during the old roof removal. Not sure if we paid for that repair...but again, I bet we did. (Less than a year ago we used a different company to repair a portion of our roof. Their bid took into account the age of the roof (based on replacing a percentage of the wood/tiles) and included painting the new wood. Resilient's bid did not include any wood replacement or painting. We learned a hard lesson). We were expecting rain towards the end of the schedule, and they promised us that they would complete it before the rain came. They did not. We did not see any sense of urgency from our crew. One hour lunch, two fifteen-minute breaks, cleanup started at 3:30. My wife and I have often noticed other companies working past dark to beat the rain. We believe that a hallmark of customer service is when a company treats you like you are their only customer, no matter how busy they are. Our experience with Resilient Roofing was the total opposite. We just hope their workmanship does not match their customer service. read more

Resilient Roofing replaced our roofing two years ago and did an amazing job. Recently we had some work done at the house that damage an area of the roof. I wanted to write this review because I truly believe Resilient Roofing deserves this review. As with many homeowners, I was getting push back from my insurance company to renew my house insurance due to roof concerns. There were certain repairs that needed to be done and I only had 2 weeks to do the repairs. As such, I found Resilient Roofing online and called them. An appt to assess my roof was immediately scheduled. Brad, the roofing consultant, looked at my roof, made his recommendations, and kept in constant contact with me because I had lots of questions. In fact, my questions were always answered, I could either call him at anytime, or he would always call me back. Communication is very important to me, so this eased my anxiety. After I agreed for them to do the repairs, Amanda, the Production Mgr, contacted me. Amanda was so GREAT! She took the time to explain the process to me; gave me the names of the roofing supervisors (Arturo and Jose) who reassessed my roof before the repairs, and then scheduled a date. (FYI: Both Jose and Arturo took the time to introduced themselves, which was appreciated). Scheduling a date to do the repairs was extremely important because I literally only had 5 days to get the roof done before my insurance lapsed. Amanda was familiar with the insurance issues, so she totally understood my concerns and really listened to me. Fortunately, Amanda was able to work her magic, and scheduled the roof repairs within a day. Everything was completed on time. Amanda was also very patient, even after I called her a zillion times. The roofers did an amazing job! They did such an amazing job that I have already recommended Resilient Roofing to a friend, and I will continue to recommend them to all my family and friends. Extremely impressed with the professionalism and thoroughness of Daniel and Eric during a recent home visit. Currently considering solar and previously was told by solar companies to do a roof update. My wife (extremely analytical) was not convinced and suggested we focus on a roofing company evaluation versus a solar company evaluating our roof. Lo and behold, after Eric goes up on the roof, returns to tell us (validated with photos) that our roof was in great condition and could easily keep us without concern for the next 15-20 years. I am writing this review for my dad who contacted this company. My dad was amazed at how quick the gentleman from this company responded to his request to repair a section of our roof-- strong wind pulled up some metal piece on our roof which caused it to stand up vertically. Once the contractor came out to do an assessment of the roof, he told my dad that it was going to be a very simple fix. He left all his belongings at our house and headed to a hardware store. Within hours he came back and had our roof repaired. The most generous thing was that he insisted on not charging my dad as he states it was an easy fix. After countless attempts to pay the gentleman, he left without payment. Besides being extremely generous (which this should not be expected) he was extremely knowledgeable, fast, efficient, and respectful of his clients time. Heather from Resilient Roofing initially inspected an area on our shingles roof that was leaking. She was very professional and took photos of what needed to be done. We ultimately took care of the roof repair for a reasonable fee. The day after the repair was completed, Seth Larson inspected the work and sent me photos of what exactly had been done during the process. I met Brad Moser at the Better Business Bureau Torch Awards - an award event that celebrates ethics in business. I had about 30 tiles on my roof that were broken so I decided to hire them. His consultant Amanda Walters was patient with my questions and I felt confident in her advice. When the crew came to do the work, they worked efficiently and took pictures before and after. I didn't get his name but one of the roof technicians stopped me to let me know the job was finished and that he would leave a few tiles so I'd have them for any future issues. A heads' up...their pricing seemed to be on the higher side of the range but I still strongly recommend them as you get what you pay for and I feel like if there are any issues they will stand behind their work. read more

Their billing department needs a lot of work. I went through my insurance and they agreed on the final amount. My insurance paid everything they requested. Now, they are up charging me an amount I've already paid. They invoice at every turn, but they don't apply the payment to the correct invoice. My roof looks great, the ladies in the other office are great. But, their billing is a mess. I was told billing would call me today to discuss this matter. The correct amount I owe. I did not receive a call. Update: The CEO reached out to me this morning. I am very impressed. He was very nice and we had a nice chat. He resolved my billing issue quickly and professionally. I called this company out to give me a free estimate on my 16-year-old roof. I was basically trying to establish how much longevity I have left on my roof. I met with Andrew and he was friendly, professional, honest, and walked me through the process. This company came out to do an inspection and I got this huge long report that went into all the services they offer and articles about getting a new roof. Bottom line is that it seems to me like all they want to do is sell their services instead of being truthful and real about the situation, they make it worse than it is. I had other roof companies out for an inspection also, and both of them said my roof has 5 years of life left on it. Their inspection said dramatic wording about how bad the roof was and made it sound like it was going to fall apart any minute. I thought it quite strange that the other 2 roofing companies both had the same conclusion yet this guy literally gave me a report that was over 20 pages long all about selling services. I'm not buying any of it. This is my first time doing the roof with underlayment replacement. Being the first time as well as picky, I had so many questions from the initial inspection till the end of installation. Resilient Roofing pulled existing tile and stacked to replace old underlayment with new upgraded underlayment. The roofing crew started at 0730 every morning. They are very hard working professionals who completed our roof in five days!! They also did seamless gutters and replaced the old rolled roofing on our patio.
