We recently had the underlayment replaced on our tile roof, and this was honestly one of the best experiences we've ever had working with a contractor. Chris, the owner, was straightforward, professional, and very hands-on throughout the entire project. What impressed me most was that he worked right alongside his crew every day and appeared to work just as hard as anyone on the team. The crew consistently arrived just before 7:00 AM, but never started work early out of consideration for us and our neighbors. They were dependable, communicative, and showed up exactly when they said they would. Another thing that really stood out was how clean and organized they kept the job site. At the end of each day, they thoroughly cleaned the area around our home, swept the sidewalks, and carefully searched for nails and debris. Chris was also very accurate and honest with his estimates. He explained upfront that any damaged wood replacement would be additional because it's impossible to know the extent of hidden damage ahead of time. In our case, there was a significant amount of dry rot and insect damage, but all of the extra woodwork still came in well within the estimated range he had provided. The project was also completed about a day earlier than expected. As an added touch, Chris even offered to paint the fascia for us if I supplied the matching paint. First things first, while our estimate from Weathermaster was more than we thought our roofing project would cost, it was $8K less than our second estimate! We didn't get more estimates so I cannot fully say that Weathermaster is the lowest priced, but you get what you pay for and we were thoroughly impressed with the level of education and attention to detail Chris the owner had in his estimate. The other estimator who came out to give us a bid (from a different company) admitted he was not a roofer himself so he couldn't answer specific questions at the time of the bid regarding the scope of the job. Also they didn't offer the synthetic underlayment (which provides better protection). Chris, however, was very knowledgeable, informative and thorough. Prior to signing our contract, we had some questions and Heather in the office and Chris were quick to respond. Once we signed our contract, they were also really communicative regarding scheduling. Rain in the forecast pushed out our job but Chris proactively emailed us each time to let us know, and they scheduled us as soon as there was a window of time they could start. We particularly appreciated Chris's transparency regarding the lag he was experiencing with scheduling the permits/inspections with the City. And an extra nice touch was that he let us know each day when they were leaving, so we could return home. When work started, Chris and his crew arrived promptly each day, worked quickly and efficiently and made sure our roof was weatherproof before we were due for more rain. The crew replaced wood where needed, and we were especially impressed with the level of integrity and thoroughness with which Chris worked; he pointed out parts of our roof/house where other previous contractors had done a sub-par job (cut corners) and made repairs where needed to make sure everything was done right. This is huge because plenty of people could/might just do what's faster/easier/cheaper; people doing things right is really honorable and refreshing but unfortunately, it's not as common these days. We did have to clean up some nails out of our rain gutter and gather some leftover material from the roof (icing on the cake if the crew had tidied everything up to really really finish the job!) but all in all we were still very impressed. Chris even came out to fix one board of fascia that hadn't been re-installed in alignment with the other fascia when we asked, which isn't a surprise by any means, but just attests to the level of service and quality of company this is. (We've had previous contractors who had done a great job but then really left us high and dry at the end). If you're looking for a communicative, quality roofing company, Chris at Weathermaster is your guy! I don't normally write reviews but my experience with Chris Wilder was so great I had to share. I had a leak in my porch roof and had gotten two quotes that were very expensive. A friend recommended Chris Wilder so I call and he came out and gave me a quote. His was friendly, his price was reasonable and not outrageous. We scheduled a date for the repair, he was prompt and did a great job. It rained a few day's later and I found we still had a leak. I called and he came back out as soon as he could and when he did a water test found the issue wasn't with the previous repair but the gutter was blocked and overflowing. He cleared out the gutter and didn't charge me anything extra. It's rare that you find a nice and profession person these days. His price was around the average, we had gotten several estimates from other companies (some lower & some higher) but his knowledge of our area / roofing in general and upfront clarity of his license and insurance was the selling point for us. We had a hiccup with getting a HELOC so the process was put on hold for a couple months, when it came time to finally get the ball rolling Chris honored his original price and informed us he was scheduled out a ways but as long as we got done before the rain season was fine with us. Our house weirdly had one section of fascia missing along the back - and we needed fascia installed so that a future gutter install will have something secure to attach to. We reached out to Weathermaster, unsure if they would take a small job like ours, and luckily they did! We gave Chris the measurements from our gutter installer, and he and his crew came out a few weeks later. They brought 2 20-foot-long preprimed fascia boards to install. My husband really appreciated how Chris and his team carefully measured and cut each rafter tail in a straight line so they would fit snugly against the ne fascia boards. The new fascia looks so straight and clean - like it was always there! Do you know those rare times when you are looking for a service and the 1st one you talk with leaves you with a really high comfort level so you don't feel the need to interview anyone else for the project? That's what I got when Chris stopped by to see what my needs were. From the start it was obvious this guy is genuine, is a hands on leader of his team and my gut told me he was going to do a great job. My gut was right! They were outstanding. You can tell he is passionate about his profession and has so much experience doing things the right way and even fixing other people's mistakes. My wife and I were late into a Refi and the bank decided that we needed to get our roof inspected. We scrambled to find a roofer and got lucky when we called Chris. He came out on a Saturday to get our roof inspected so we could move on with our Refi and hit the closing deadline. The main reason for the Refi was to have some extra money to get our roof replaced and a few other projects. It was clear that Chris was a master and we really appreciated that he wasn't trying to sell us in any way, just the facts from someone with experience, so refreshing. Once the Refi was complete, he started replacing our roof within weeks. Not only did Chris give us a reasonable estimate to replace our roof, he hit that estimate when the job was complete. This was a roof that was well overdue and we also wanted 3 skylights removed, so I was thinking we would run into some unforeseen issues. Nope, the master called it from the beginning. Done and done. The recommendation at the time was to work with the solar company to get it fixed. After quite some time, right before they were to inspect, they sold the lease to a new company. Chris Wilder did a great job on our single family flat roof. Three years later, during the January 2022 storms, we had a leak two stories below that I thought might be coming from the roof. Chris replied to my email within hours and made an appointment to come the next morning. He tested and found that the leak wasn't coming from the roof. To my grateful surprise, he spent another hour testing the other places the water could be entering. When he found an opening around an outlet on a deck that could be leaking into the wall and the floor below, he made a special trip, bought waterproof caulking to fix it, and came back to make that repair, unrelated to the roofing. This project had many facets. First, a sloped roof, plus a roof over it, plus a flat roof in another area had to be torn off. Next, there was wood to repair and replace. Then, there was the installation of the new sloped roof and a new flat roof. Chris' team was respectful of my property, finished the job well ahead of schedule, and were professional and expert at what they did. My approximately 70 plants in the ground including many close to the house didn't lose a leaf. There was a thorough daily clean-up. Each team member had a great attitude while doing this job in perhaps the hottest week of the year. They also did extras on their own initiative at no charge. Further, the original bid was the final charge-there were no additional charges. Ten years ago Chris, CJ and team did a great job on my relative's home.
