They sent Travis out promptly, who is their electrician where he found that the issue was resolved by replacing a faulty 40-amp breaker that was intermittently providing the necessary voltage, even though measurements initially appear correct. While the breaker issue caused real inconvenience and unexpected costs on my end, the owner was responsive and showed willingness to smooth things over to work toward a resolution. I also want to highlight that the panel upgrade and solar/battery installation itself was clean and well done. The workmanship that Eddie, Manny, Christian and Jamie performed had overall met my expectations, and once the issue was identified, Sunline did step in to correct it. No project is perfect, but how a company responds when problems arise matters a lot. In this case, Sunline's owner and Eric was engaged, responsive, and made a sincere effort to make things right. We recently purchased a new home and chose Sunline Energy to set up our solar system, relying on their expertise since we had no prior electrical history for the house. We asked them to factor in two air conditioners, an electrical vehicle charging station, and that we both work from home. Unfortunately the energy usage was underestimated. In the last six months since installation, we've spent about $3000 on additional energy due to the underestimation. While the installation itself was smooth, we ended up short on the production we actually needed. Over the past three months we've reached out multiple times through calls, emails and texts - trying to address this underestimation, but unfortunately we have not received a response. If you scroll down, you'll see the detailed original review I left after nearly two years of delays, confusion, and miscommunication around our solar installation. At the time, it truly felt like we were stuck in a never-ending cycle of setbacks--and we were beyond frustrated. But after that review was posted, the owner of Sunline personally reached out to us--and everything changed. He took the time to thoroughly explain what had caused the extensive delays: our home had an unusual commercial-grade electric panel (despite being a residential property), which caused our account to be processed by SDG&E's commercial division. That division moves much slower and was outside of Sunline's typical process. It made what should've been a straightforward install drag out far longer than anyone expected. Once the issue was identified, the owner stepped in directly, expedited the rest of the project, and covered the cost of a new panel themselves. He and the team communicated clearly, stayed on top of scheduling, and made sure the job was finally done right. The installers were more professional and respectful on their return visits--they came prepared and cleaned up properly. I truly appreciate the owner's honesty, his accountability, and the company's effort to make things right. That's what earned this 4-star update. We had Sunline put in a small 2.8KW system, plus Tesla PowerWall, in our house in Mission Valley. Everyone at Sunline; from the sales team to the Inspections team; were truly polite, responsive, and a sincere pleasure to work with and do business with. I do also want to give a huge shout out to Sunline Instillation Team #1. Having Henry, Allen, Jamie & Nawin; all working the install, made me extremely confident that the project was going to be performed in a professional manner. They were all true craftsmen. In conclusion, a very positive experience with Sunline, throughout the process. My only lesson learned that is worth mentioning in the review: SDG&E has the vendor set up and lock your Powerwall so that it can be charged by solar only (you cannot charge off of the grid). This unfortunately will NOT allow you to charge during the super off peak rate (from midnight to 6 am) for use on a cloudy or winter day... I've used Sunline twice, once for solar and again for a battery. They definitely went downhill. The solar went well and based on that I would have given them 5 stars. The battery install was a whole different experience. I signed the contract and we scheduled and they said should take one day. Great. It wasn't until the installers were there putting in the battery that I found out this was trip 1 of 3. After they left I emailed my sales contact and asked for a timeline on the rest of the steps. No response. I finally received details that step 2 involved SDGE coming out. The first time the SDGE contractor showed up, he asked where the equipment was he was supposed to install. No idea. Contractor left. I had to contact Sunline to have them bring the equipment then wait for SDGE to come again. Step 3 was to have Sunline come again and install the controller. This more or less went fine. After the battery was installed I was told it wasn't working yet but my system was displaying a bunch of information like it was. Asked why this was happening. No response. Also no response to several other communications. It's like they are allergic to responding to customers. I gave them two stars because the actual installers were nice enough and did good work. But the office staff is horrible as is communication. Will not use them again. read more

My solaredge inverter broke down around two years ago and I contacted Sunline about it. It required a lot of back and forth through emails but eventually we were able to have it replaced. For what it's worth, The sales rep Chris, was knowledgeable and and straight forward. We were having problems, with our existing system as the SDG&E bills were very high. We shopped around, chose Sunline and decided to add a battery and a few more panels. Unfortunately and unknowingly our Inverter was fried, much to our chagrin. It was covered by a warranty yet it was only after I called Sunline to come out and see what was wrong that we discovered the problem. This, after we had signed the contract. We signed in September and they just finished on the sixth this January They are very nice people at Sunline but they take on too much work. This dragged on and forced us to postpone a planned vacation. I made the false assumption that this would take a month to six weeks. In closing, the work they did was clean and so far correct, but the duration was unsatisfactory and communication was very slow on their end. My advise is to get a time frame from them when it will be completed. read more

After seeing my electric bill continue to skyrocket year after year I knew I had to go solar. I got 5 quotes from different companies (all which had the best reviews) and decided on Sunline. Their prices were fair and they offered a variety of great product options. Something that really made Sunline stand out is they have their own mobile app. Every time the project reached a major milestone I received a notification on my phone. Now that my installation is up and running I can view my energy production within the app as well. My favorite part of the app is that I can easily refer my friends for a nice cash bonus. I've already sent Sunline a few referrals and I'm able to track each referral. The app is a game changer. In the end along with our ground mounted solar system we ended up purchasing 2 Enphase IQ Batteries. I'm really happy that we did so we're now further insulated from SDG&E's outrageous rate hikes. I have been impressed with Sunline Energy from start to finish. I set up an appointment for an estimate and Matthew sat down with me in June and went over all options. He was knowledgeable and listened to my concerns and questions. I signed a contract and made a deposit. Liz was the project manager who made sure everything was scheduled, including surveys installation and inspection. Liz scheduled us for installation in August but got our project going even earlier when an unexpected vacancy came up on Sunline's installation schedule. Mike was the final person who brought the project to final completion ahead of schedule. There was an unexpected glitch in the San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) inspection and approval process. Mike not only got everything corrected, but he also got the final permission to operate our Solar Power System from San Diego Gas & Electric days earlier than expected! I tried to work with a different Solar Power Company before turning to Sunline. The other company quoted a higher price for fewer solar panels and warned about probable added expenses once the project was in progress. I signed a contract, put down a deposit, and then that company stopped answering my emails, texts, and phone calls. I fired them and got my deposit back. That was a blessing in disguise. Sunline installed more solar panels for a significantly lower price than quoted by the other company. Sunline always answered all my communications quickly. There were no unexpected expenses. Sunline recently inspected and addressed some minor issues on my roof. I was very impressed by the professionalism and honesty. They gave a fair assessment, noted a few minor items, and addressed them quickly. A few weeks later I had an unrelated issue from electrical conduit work that was done and they came right back out to help with the new/separate issue. They were again very responsive and honest and did amazing work. I'd happily recommend them to anyone looking for roof work. This company is not ready for prime time. The pros : the owner was responsive in fixing every problem along the way. The cons : there were a lot of problems. Major problems. They sent out electricians who had no idea what they were doing. They connected two neutral wires together and shorted out our entire house. Then said they had to leave at 5 PM because they did not get paid for overtime. The short blew out our air-conditioning, microwave, electric fireplace and almost every canned light we had. So that required two more days of having the electricity turned off and them finding the problem. Then they had to pay for replacing all of the fixtures that had blown out and I had to find and deal with every sub. They did stand behind it and pay for them but the process was extraordinarily painful. Additionally their sales rep had little to no knowledge of price breakdown. The owner had to step in again to correct her mistakes So maybe in the future this company might be able to get their act together because the owner seemed genuinely interested in making sure the job was ultimately completed correctly. The job for us however was a nightmare. read more

Not happy with my project with Sunline . I had them do my whole house re-roof and install solar. On the solar aspect the project design, installation went smoothly. Installation was quick and it took the team 2 days to install 21 panels. They moved fast for permits and did a great solar design better than some other companies I got quotes from. Roofing portion took about three weeks. Workmanship was sub par on my roofing portion of my work. The attention to detail was lacking especially on corners, mortar application (splattered mortar on walls), valleys that were crooked etc. The workers stained the walls pretty much around the entire house while they worked and most of the walls needed repainting and touch up. They also chose to use standard gray color for mortar, which did not match the roof tile color or what I had before. They also re-installed chipped and old discolored tiles on the roof even though they had plenty left over tiles from where the solar would go. It should have been common sense to get rid of old and damaged tiles. Sunline did want to fix the issues and they mentioned they can re-do the corners without any problem and they would re-apply mortar and paint the stains. I waited almost a month for the issues to get addressed due to scheduling and other delays. The fix for the messy corners was to grind them down, not re-do them so thats about as much as they are willing to fix their mistake. During this time my Solar panels were installed and I received permission to operate from the utility, but the company would not enable solar until the final payment was made. They kept sending out final payment notices even though roof work was not yet completed. There looked to be a general lack of communication between their roof , accounting and solar department. I had to reach out couple times to get them to enable solar while I was waiting for issues to get addressed. Overall based on my experience I would not be recommending them. At the end of the day my old roof from appearances looked better than it does now, so if you are looking for an attention to detail I would stay away. read more

Not good at all. Told me they could get installed by the end of the year not even two weeks ago and suggested specifc financing for me to use. Their suggested financing saw a credit score for my husband that is vastly incorrect per paid credit monitoring and denied our app without even telling us creating a delay. As soon as I found out I went and found my own financing through a credit union that actually knows how to view credit and process apps and told their rep I would be using that financing. And instead of just being ok with that and allowing me to sign they shot back with more questions about the financing, and rug pulled the installed by the end of the year promise mid financing agreement not even two weeks after the initial claim where other installers are still telling me its no problem to install by the end of the year. Its been a significant time investment and headache for nothing. Then they tried to get me signed up for some janky sounding deal to still get the tax credit by having some outside company own my system for 6 years on my owned outright home due to their incapability to deliver what was promised. In the final day, once Vista City inspection was completed, Javier made sure the powerwall was functioning as expected and made all necessary work. My system was installed by Sunline 8 years ago. A large electric bill caused me to check my inverters and one had a blinking light indicating a malfunction. I called Sunline to request service on March 2 and again on the 4th. No calls were returned. Went on website and requested a service. They created a ticket on the 4th and the next day they said I needed a cellular upgrade for $800 and for me to approve a repair which I did on the fifth. I heard nothing. On March 9 I emailed that I had performed a system reset on my own I got an error code that indicates the inverter was broken. No response from Sunline. With no return call,text or email two service trucks appeared three weeks later wanting to put on a cellular upgrade. In the meantime the inverter had been removed and replaced under warranty by a real solar company that provided real customer service. As a previously satisfied customer this company was a huge disappointment. read more
