In Hawaii, we are experiencing a shortage of doctors due to the high cost of living in Hawaii and many various reasons. I've been seeing all sorts of doctors since I was young and Dr. Sara is one of the few that has really helped me to get to the solution of the root cause of my health condition. She takes the time to listen and to communicate with you, not just slapping a bandaid of the superficial problem and giving you a prescription for a drug that has a high chance of giving you other side effects within 15 minutes of your session with them. I can feel that she cares about her patients wholeheartedly. She educates you on how to take care of your entire body and encourages healthy living and wellness (also scientific and research backed). I also like the fact that she utilizes a program where you can contact her anytime that you may need her help and she responds promptly on that. She truly is a gift and godsend to our community and I hope that she'll be able to stay on Oahu as long as possible. If you are ready to take on the challenge and start your healing journey, I would highly recommend you to have your free consultation with Dr. Sara.

I began working with her at my worst, and she made it a point to attend Long COVID conferences to stay up to speed on the condition and offered many treatment options. Dr. Steelsmith helped me look at my illness through the lens of food inflammation tests and adrenal exams, which helped me better understand my condition and how to manage it. She is 5 stars INCREDIBLE and though she wasn't covered fully by my insurance, they did do 25% coverage. She is totally worth it. And her staff are kind and responsive as well. I just got a call after being on the waitlist for 8 months, and told they're "going down the list"…read moreto reach out to waitlisted people. I was essentially told I had to decide that minute (like literally THAT MINUTE) if I would accept an upcoming appointment in a few weeks. I'm in treatment with a different acupuncturist - it's been 8 months after all - and I needed a moment to think about this. I wanted to review my care plan and goals after not hearing from this practice for so long. Very much caught off guard. I asked if I could have time to think (I wanted about an hour), and was told no - I would need to decide right then THAT MINUTE - and she needed to proceed down the waitlist. I felt extremely pressured to make a decision on the spot, in a very vulnerable aspect of health care - fertility and women's health. I was about to say yes, and then after thinking about it for the three seconds I had and how unprofessional this all felt - my answer turned to a hard "no." This practice made me feel like a mark, a number, an insignificant person on a list to get through until they hit their client booking goals. In spite of how talented a healer Edie Uchida might be, this policy is unfair and the person delivering this info, very cold.

Edie is hands down the best, and I know this because I have happy and healthy 3-month-old twin girls thanks to her! My OBGYN, who is also my IVF doctor, affectionately calls my girls the "miracle babies." I'm a 42-year-old woman who has been battling endometriosis, an autoimmune disease, and years of infertility (around 7 years total). Before seeing Edie, I had undergone 2 laparoscopies and a hysteroscopy for my endometriosis. I also took 3 cycles of Clomid, which unfortunately resulted in a miscarriage. I attempted 3 more cycles of Clomid, but those attempts were unsuccessful as well. Additionally, I had 3 unsuccessful IUI attempts and a single failed round of IVF. My first round of IVF involved retrieving 7 eggs, but only 4 were viable, and only 3 of those made it to embryos. Considering my age, health history, and the lower grading of the embryos, all 3 were transferred. Unfortunately, none of them implanted. Enter Edie! I started seeing her in June 2023, 2-3 times a week. After overcoming several challenges with hormonal imbalances and cysts, which Edie effectively managed, I underwent my egg retrieval in October 2023. Before the retrieval, my doctor monitored my follicles and provided guidance to Edie on the necessary interventions. For instance, during an ultrasound to assess follicle count and growth, one side had larger follicles compared to the other. I informed Edie about this at my next appointment, and she adjusted the treatment plan. At my following ultrasound, both sides had evened out. I was fortunate enough to retrieve 8 viable eggs, with 7 of them successfully developing into 3-day embryos. This was more than double the number I had previously achieved, and the quality of the embryos was significantly improved. I continued to see Edie until my embryo transfer in January 2024. Immediately following my transfer, I saw her for a special treatment to help the implantation process. After my previous IVF cycle failed, I was cautiously optimistic but started experiencing period symptoms about a week later. I was certain it wasn't working, but Edie remained positive and said, "I feel like it worked." I appreciated her optimism, but I was certain my period was coming. Two weeks after my transfer, I received my positive beta results! She was right! I discovered I was having twins, and due to my age, medical history, and the fact that I was having twins, I was at high risk. As a result, I was recommended to be on modified bed rest for the first trimester. The only places I visited during that time were my doctor's and Edie's appointments. Not only did Edie help me conceive and maintain my pregnancy, but she also provided support during my severe morning sickness, which persisted throughout my pregnancy. She also helped alleviate symptoms of a flare-up with my UC and treated all my pregnancy symptoms. Additionally, she offered support after losing my little brother to cancer when I was six months pregnant. Edie helped manage my anxiety, heartbreak, and sleep during that extremely difficult time! Unfortunately, I had to stop seeing her around 34 weeks, which I believe ultimately contributed to my preeclampsia. At 38 weeks (full term), I managed to deliver two beautiful girls, both weighing a healthy 6.5 pounds each! Edie is truly amazing! I genuinely mean that! She cares deeply about her patients, and I honestly believe that if it weren't for her help, knowledge, and genuine care, my girls wouldn't be here today. And while this may sound cliché, after seeing her for so long, I miss her because she became a friend to me. If there's only one thing you take away from this review, when you visit Edie, please fully trust her and the process. She knows what she's doing! My advice to you: Take the herbs and supplements, follow the diet, wear the patches, listen to her advice, and visit her as often as possible. It's actually quite incredible to see the difference she can make to your body and overall health. I still can't believe I have 2 amazing, happy, and healthy girls because of her. I will forever be grateful for everything she has done for me!

I first…read morereached out at the end of 2024 when I was dealing with complex and overwhelming health challenges that were taking a serious toll on my daily life. I wanted a holistic approach--one that combined lifestyle changes, nutritional support, hormone therapy, and supplements. What I received was so much more than I expected. Dr. Williams took the time to understand the full picture. She listened with care and compassion, giving me space to share what I was experiencing, both physically and emotionally. What began as a search for answers around perimenopausal symptoms soon revealed deeper underlying conditions, including POTS and PCOS--things that had gone undiagnosed for far too long. Dr. Williams created a comprehensive, science-backed plan tailored to my specific needs, based on lab work, ongoing testing, and consistent monitoring. Appointments are thorough, typically lasting 30 minutes to an hour, and every visit feels intentional and collaborative. Dr. Williams always makes sure I understand what's going on in my body and how each part of the treatment plan fits together. She doesn't reject Western medicine--in fact, she incorporates it thoughtfully when it supports overall healing. When I was prescribed anxiety medication, for example, she reviewed it carefully and helped me understand how it could help in my specific case. One of the things I appreciate most about this practice is the team-based approach. You're not just getting one doctor's perspective--you're benefiting from the expertise of the entire group. The providers consult with one another to make sure every aspect of your care is considered, which makes a huge difference. As with most naturopathic care, insurance doesn't typically cover upfront, but this office is extremely transparent about costs and offers a range of payment options. If your insurance allows for reimbursement, they even handle the claims submission for you--something I've found to be a massive help. The office environment is quiet, clean, and calming. The staff is welcoming and responsive, and parking is simple thanks to the attached structure (with validation included). They also use a secure app that makes managing test results, appointments, and communication incredibly easy. This is truly whole-person care--rooted in science, compassion, and a deep respect for the healing process. If you're ready to invest in your well-being and want a provider who will walk with you every step of the way, I cannot recommend Dr. Williams enough. This continues to be life-changing for me.

We took him to the best Doctors and Specialists we could find and ran all the tests we could. We decided to fly our son to Queens Hospital to see an allergist to no avail. He also had secondary reactions to steroids and antibiotics given to him at the hospital. We were told it was idiopathic anaphylaxis and we would most likely never find the cause or the cure. He was instructed to carry epi-pens at all times. Our son has since had 3 more anaphylactic episodes the last one in November of 2017. We decided to seek alternative help and contacted Dr. Kushner. Dr. Kushner met with me first and just listened to me for over and hour about the events leading up to my son's first episode. It was so nice to be heard for a change. We set up an appointment for my son at a later date. Dr. Kushner spent several hours just talking and listening to our son. It was a breath of fresh air to have someone who actually listened. After Dr. Kushner gathered all the information & lab results she formulated a plan to help our son. He has since lost more than 23 pounds, the visible inflammation throughout his body has been drastically diminished, and most importantly of all he has not had an anaphylactic episode since we started with Dr. Kushner. His last episode was the one he had in November 2017 and It will be June 2018 this Friday. This will be the longest stretch that our son has had no anaphylaxis. We can not thank Dr. Kushner enough for all she has done. Mahalo
