Considering the state of the country and in particular, the disaster that will be unfolding in Florida in the coming weeks, months, and year we decided to cancel our Florida Vacation Rental that we had put a deposit down on this past fall. Today I called to cancel and spoke with one of the rudest people in my life. The lack of understanding or compassion she showed was astounding. I had said that our income was negatively affected due to the ongoing humanitarian disaster unfolding and that we would like our 498.00 back. She sneered "you're well past your 30 day cancellation and there is nothing I can do" I asked if she'd like to speak to my attorney regarding this matter and she said "you do what you need to do". About a year ago I signed my wife (at the time fiancé) and I up for a Florida vacation at a Comic Con. A week or two later I was contacted by RTA telling me we had been selected for a 6 night, 5 day stay at Silver Lake Resort in Kissimmee, FL. After explaining all about the trip and resort, I asked the big question... "Is this free?", that's when I found out it is just an "extremely discounted" vacation package for $498. I was a little disappointed, but after looking up what a trip like that would normally cost, we decided it sounded like a fun way to have a cheap "mini-moon" after our wedding in October. After the phone call I took to Google to search "Resort Tours & Accommodations." That is when I was met with a barrage of horrible reviews exclaiming that the package as well as the company was a complete scam. This was when I first understood they would try to sell me a timeshare... I was mortified. My first thought was I need to try to get my money refunded immediately. Many negative reviews said they attempted the same but got ahold of a woman named Barbara who refused to give them a refund and insulted and belittled them on the phone. Through my anxiety I read every review on RTA I could possibly find on the internet. Unfortunately, the negative seemed to far outweigh the positive. But I noticed a couple trends... All the negative reviews were from people who never actually took the trip. They all either said they attempted to get a refund and were met with resistance and insulted by RTA, or they hadn't even purchased the package and came just to say they believed the company was a scam for having the audacity to try to charge them $498 for a vacation they believed was free. Another thing I noticed is that RTA responded to every negative review with their side of the story. And all positive reviews said they took the trip and it was great. I decided I would just try to call for a refund. Fully expecting to be berated by a woman named Barbara I had to really psych myself up. But when I called, I spoke with a man named Gerald. He was as calm and nice and immediately offered me a refund without question. But also gave me some incentive to keep the package. I discussed with my wife and we decided for the price, the trip was worth the risk. Come closer to the time we planned to take the trip, I called RTA, booked our dates at Silver Lake without issue. Every time I called them I never had a problem getting someone on the phone and they were always kind and helpful. As long as you READ the rules and meet a few simple requirements, you will have no issues booking your trip. The RTA package says you're required to sit through a 90 minute sales presentation (timeshare pitch). I had read timeshare pitch horror stories online so I was worried it would be a nightmare experience. We arrived at Silver Lake on a Sunday and our pitch was for 8:15am Monday morning. Come time for the pitch, we listened, decided against purchasing and were out after 110 minutes. We got $200 in entertainment credit for attending, and were able purchase Disney World tickets. As for Silver Lake Resort, it's beautiful with a lot of great amenities and entertainment. We loved our condo, the huge pool, game room and tiki bar. Plus, it's literally 5 minutes from Disney and about an hour from the beach. The staff is also very friendly. I know this review is incredibly long, but there is a lot of unfair negativity on the internet about RTA and their intent. They want to help the resort sell timeshares but also give you a cheap vacation. You are not required to buy one. I cannot guarantee everyone will feel the way I do, but this is simply what my wife and I's experience was, and it was great. Thank you for the great memories RTA. read more

Not necessarily a scam but watch yourself. They are registered in Manta and have a NAICS code so this is a legit business but they call you up saying that you've won a trip and that instead of paying $2500 (or some other arbitrary number) you only need to pay $498 (Or another number). They tell you need to decide now and provide a card number...right off the bat should send up flags. And if you dont they say they will move on to the next person in line...so wait...did I win something or was I on the list? You shouldnt have to pay for services not rendered. They tell you you have 18 months to use the package and that they just need 45 days advance notice to book. If thats true why do they need your card number now. Couldnt you give them that as you are booking? Just watch out. If you get charged and have second thoughts they may try to convince you otherwise. Possible approaches you could use is just calling and asking for the charge to be taken off. If that doesnt work ask them what you are being charged for since there has been no services rendered. If that still does not work let them know you will be contacting the better business bureau and their districts Attorney General. read more

"Resort Tours & Accommodations Scams" That's the first autocomplete on Google. And for good reason. Let me be clear: Resort Tours & Accommodations is a legitimate business. They go through all the proper legal hoops. But this is a business that uses the most slimy and misleading tactics I have ever seen. The fact that they are allowed to operate in the open shocks me. First they set up booths under the pretense of raffling off free vacations. However in truth these are used to gather call lists and the information they collect is to see if the people that signed up can afford a timeshare. Then they call you and say "Congratulations you won!...a vacation that costs $500 plus travel expenses plus food plus most of the cost of your tickets (their vouchers don't cover nearly enough) plus you're forced to sit through an incredibly high pressure time share meeting plus the accommodations are actually awful plus..." well you get the picture. But that's not all. When I called customer service I have never experienced such rudeness. I was five minutes into my first phone call and was blatantly called stupid. Things only went downhill from there. I decided after not receiving literally anything from this company after paying them $500 (I never received a package or an email) that I wanted a refund. I was berated every time I called. I was being intimidated into allowing them to keep my money. Not only that but I was lied to on multiple occasions about how their refund policy worked (since it literally doesn't exist in writing anywhere online) and if I hadn't been so persistent and would "just wait" as they told me to do, the time period would have expired and I would have been out of luck. This problem has obviously been happening for a long time. Other reviews with the exact same details go back for YEARS. Not only is this business completely reprehensible, they're doing nothing to fix it. This company has no plans to change anytime. Do not, ever, under any circumstances, give this company your money. I still don't understand how they haven't been shut down. P.S. The good reviews? At least some of them are from employees within the company because the names match. DO NOT PAY $498 BEFORE HAND UNLESS YOU'RE SERIOUS ABOUT GOING TO THE TRIP! My husband and I were excited to win this awesome trip to Florida but we just recently decided that we won't save enough money before it expires. After calling them and leaving multiple voicemails, I decided to call the same number over and over until someone answered. So ... apparently I'm not the only one whose upset that we cannot get our $498 back because we purchased that December 2017. They're so quick to taking our money and never mentioned anything about a 30 days refund to get your $498. It also looks like whoever draws wins the trip because my older sister and her husband also received a call about the trip and paid their $498 but received no envelope in the mail. I brought my paperworks to her house to review the trips, but now it looks like we're not getting our refund because of SELFISH COMPANIES like these! Mind you, I wrote everything down back when we were talking to them about this trip and they kept repeating over, "You have 18mo to set a date with us." But never once, you have 30days for your $498 back. Geraldo, (who I spoke to) admitted that "obviously we're not going to mention a 30day refund." So for those who wants to put in money first before thinking twice whether you'll have enough money saved or not, don't do it! Cause by reading other reviews and their responses it doesn't matter if you put in money for 6+mo before your trip expires in 18mo, they don't care if you're broke or not ALL THEY WANT IS YOUR MONEY! I was skeptical at first about booking a vacation over the phone with Resort Tours & Accommodations, but i'm glad I did. The accommodations were reasonable for the price and my kids and I made memories to last a life time. I decided not to purchase timeshare this time around, but I might next time. read more

This company thrives on the scam of selling vacation packages on the cheap based on a "lottery winning" at events that entitle you for an all expenses paid trip. So they get your information through the lottery, and then instruct that if you purchase the vacation package, that you then receive all sorts of benefits (with flexible dates), under the guise that the package is redeemable whenever. Well, it turns out that there are expiration dates within which you can claim your trip, and if you don't, you are "S*** out of luck." They send you a package of "brochure" like information that hardly expresses when the package expires with some BS "complimentary upgrade" as if it actually something of value. They also make it impossible to cancel the contract without making you fill out and mail paperwork (because they know that this is tedious and slow and would deter people from following through) instead of allowing you to cancel online (like most legit businesses this day and age). They know that people don't pay attention to the implicit expiration dates, so when you do come around to redeeming, you've been swindled out of a lot of money. When I called the customer service line, I was met with very rude and snide responses (I experienced this in the beginning too but chalked it up to the person I was dealing with). Never in my life, have I ever done business where they can sell you a product that has an expiration date and that you don't ever get to use unless it is EXPLICITLY stated. While attending the 2018 Pride festival we visited the booth of Resort Tours and Accomodations and filled out their card to win a Disney vacation. The card asked for our yearly gross income And what kind of credit card we had which I thought was strange but since it was at Pride we assumed it was safe. On Tuesday I received a call from a number I didn't recognize so I didn't answer and they didn't leave a voicemail. On Thursday evening around 8pm I received another call so we answered. They went on about how we were chosen for a discounted vacation out the 5% and spewed all these numbers that sounded great so we agreed that we would like the package. Well after spilling more information he said that we would have to give him a credit or debit card over the phone. We questioned the legitimacy to which he said we would be able to get our money back with a 30 day gurantee. We still didn't feel comfortable doing that and asked if we would pay the amount owed at a later date. The man then became very rude and said that we had to pay it right then or they would gladly give our vacation away to someone else. Not wanting to lose our spot we agreed and he transferred us to another woman who took our card information for a second time. Long story short we read reviews on the company which were terrible and called trying to get a refund to which we had to leave a voicemail stating they would call back promptly yet we haven't received a call. The supposed deal they offered us was no cheaper than if we just booked the vacation ourselves. We tried contacting them through email and phone to cancel the same day to which we received no response until the following Monday. They left me a voicemail while I was at work. When we contacted the customer service line I tried to tell the man that I needed a full refund because I feel I had been scammed he became very sarcastic saying things like, "Oh really?" And "You really expect me to believe that?" Feeling very disrespected I contacted the direct line of the person who left me voicemail. Her name was Barbara. She claimed that I had not called back in time and that the package was already mailed so there was nothing I could do even though in the voicemail she left me she said she knew I was trying to cancel the package. When I tried to explain that the email said I could call this number to cancel she became irate even yelling claiming that had we not called on the weekend it could have been cancelled (which is a lie because we called Thursday and Friday before 5pm), but now we would have to wait for the package to be sent and then send it back in order to receive a refund. In short these are the most unprofessional people I have ever dealt with and I would recommend anyone to steer clear of anything that had to do with this company!! read more
