These rest areas serve as important...well, rest areas for travelers and truckers. Those in the trucking industry say the for-profit truck stops off of many intersections are often full and sometimes come with baggage in the form of illicit drugs or illicit activity. There's also the pressure of paying for services even if you don't intend to walk in and use the facilities. With these rest areas being in fairly remote areas off of interstates, these also serve as important points so truckers can rest. Or travelers can switch drivers without having to do a Chinese Fire Drill on the interstate. The amenities here are your basic rest area stuff (federal law prohibits the sale of goods, though there is a carve out for vending machines). Restrooms are clean and drinking fountains are available if you need to refill your water bottle. There is a good amount of green space if you traveled with your dog and he's bouncing off the car walls and needs to stretch his legs. There are 2017 maps if you want to go retro or learn how to read a map. And there is an office for the attendant in what I assume is only occupied 9-5 Monday through Friday. Why did I take off one star? The bottled water cost $2. I know, I know...captive audience. But I can imagine buying in bulk the state of Indiana could get a slightly cheaper price if they tried.

Vending machines were stocked and there are picnic tables and a dog walking area. Not much shade and very little buffer between the highway noise and the rest area. They had both a salad and soup bar and a hot bar option. I ate a lot of salads during my visit. Breakfast was similar a hot bar. The rooms are somewhat dated but it worked out just fine. I loved the balcony view which looked right into the woods, so serene. We also had a team building activity which was so much fun! They planned such a great event for us.

The bathrooms are clean and nice in the rooms as well. The swimming pool is nice and well maintained, but I didn't get in it while I was here. If you want interesting things to do while you are staying at the lodge, you could go visit the Butler Turpin house here at the park or go visit a nearby winery. The location of this hotel was everything - Right in the middle of Nulu, located by lots of food and shopping. Some really cute vintage stores and other boutiques right across the street! The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially when we asked for recommendations for nearby restaurants and late night pizza delivery. They had a nice, but overpriced restaurant downstairs near the lobby. They also had complimentary breakfast every morning. The hotel was very clean and felt extremely safe. Overall, we really enjoyed our visit in Kentucky and glad we stayed at AC Louisville Downtown!

Bagels, toast, danishes, cereal, fruit, yogurt, etc. Everyone who works here is very pleasant but I have to give a shout out to Joe. He takes such good care of us. He mans the front desk, makes sure our breakfast and coffee are supplied and we keep him running! He does it all with a smile on his face. We even wanted to know what our comfy mattress was and he knew the brand! Looking forward to staying there again next year!

Yes the grounds are attractive as is the lounge are. It's typical Hilton Garden Inn. Nice clean restrooms up front. Our room was another matter. To close the door you had to Slam it (sorry fellow travelers). If you just pull it closed it would not close and left it open to anyone getting g in your room. The inside lock didn't word but the swing lock did. We were told our room was a walk-in shower which my wife needs. But it wasn't worse, tub safety handle was in the wrong side making you climb over the toilet to use it. The tub is on a pedestal or raised and sits much higher than the floor. Since it's white on white it's difficult to see that there is a depth difference and caused both my wife and I to slip and loose our balance getting out. One of the soap dispensers was broken The sink and tub stoppers were both broken There were only two towels and one hand towel. Fine I guess but unusually stingy. Even motel 6 gives you a full complement of towels. I could go on but you get the point.

All responded more than 24 hours later despite multiple follow up phone calls. I called Hilton Garden Inn NE & immediately spoke with Hannah Heile. She was fantastic!!!! She made the process easy and gave us the perfect space to celebrate my dad's life. We felt like the other hotel's sales teams were never at the hotel & didn't seem eager to make money off empty rooms. Although we weren't staying at this hotel, we are now planning to stay here due to the attentiveness & compassion from Hannah & Anna (reception). The cookies they put out in reception are amazing!!! My brother fell in love with that (especially since my dad lived cookies). We also ordered a cheese & fruit platter that wasn't on the menu, but was perfect. We have several family members that have done event planning & were amazed at how quick & easy & accommodating the staff was to work with. The property was clean. It's located behind Paddock Shoppes with a ton of restaurants & shopping that is easily walkable. We will be supporting this location in the near future.
