The whole Buc-ee's thing goes back to 1982, started by Arch "Beaver" Aplin III and his partner Don Wasek out of Clute, Texas. Still privately owned all these decades later, no franchising, which says something about how consistent the experience is store to store. Aplin even picked up the McLane Leadership in Business Award from Texas A&M back in 2022 for building the thing into what it is. Food-wise, this place way overdelivers for a travel center. I timed my visit for breakfast, which is worth doing since it runs until around 10:30 -- got a breakfast taco with their brisket, and it did not disappoint. Smoky, tender, well seasoned, tucked into a fresh tortilla they're now pressing in-house at the location. If you're going bigger, the Beast Burrito is no joke -- it's basically built for one meal to cover you the rest of the day. Grabbed some of their jerky for the road too; they rotate through a solid lineup of flavors, so there's something for everyone. Beyond the food, it's just a fun stop. Clean, well-stocked, plenty of parking, and enough snack and gift options to keep you browsing longer than you planned. A van covered in religious stickers was parked outside the bathrooms, along with an evangelist (eVANgelist) wearing a Trust Jesus shirt standing creepily. First of all the common green area is very long great for walking pets or yourself. There are sidewalks all the way to end on either side of car and truck parking. There are covered and uncovered tables spaced out in the area, watch out for bird nests above. The restroom building has many toilets so no waiting during high traffic times. There is a visible maintenance person roaming the grounds. About 4 vending machines mix of drinks and snacks. Usually these rest areas in SC are no where this large for parking and green areas so I have rated based on this. The trash cans are not overflowing, no ant hills in the grass, well kept.

Everything here looked pretty good, it took longer to make the pre-fueling and post-fueling trips to the fuel counter than it did to pump the 62.344 gallons, the prices are somewhat competitive at $3.609 per gallon so I got out of here for $225.00. The staff at the fuel counter were very nice and efficient even though they were very busy fortunately you can grab your actual receipt after fueling from a numbered slotted box on the edge of the counter without any additional interaction. The entrance and exit from the trucker's lanes have plenty of room to maneuver once you complete your fueling and it's only a short drive back to the interstate. The facility was well maintained and the restroom were very clean - not all Love Travel Stop are created the same but this one is well managed from the look of things...

There's plenty of parking available for both cars and larger vehicles like RVs and trucks in separated lots. Car parking is close to the building. The welcome center has a nice look with its architecture and design. It was well marked, clean and well-maintained, with neatly landscaped grounds that provide a peaceful atmosphere. Inside, the restrooms are spacious and kept in good condition. The vending machines provide a variety of snacks and drinks, ensuring visitors can grab a quick refreshment before getting back on the road. One of the highlights is the welcome center. It has a beautiful terrazzo floor, wood ceiling, glass wall, good lighting, and lots of informative displays and brochures about North Carolina's attractions, giving travelers a glimpse into what the state has to offer. The staff at the welcome center seemed friendly and knowledgeable. For those traveling with pets, there's a designated pet area to stretch their legs.
