Had dinner with 7 other friends and co-workers at this restaurant, which is part of a hotel. This restaurant is close to one of the biggest US bases, in Kaiserslautern, Germany. The restaurant is decorated as a traditional German restaurant. We were promptly seated and were given a menu in English and German with big pictures of the food. I ordered a bone-in Iberico pork chop with plum sauce, potato gratin and ratatouille. The pork was perfectly cooked and the potato gratin was delicious. However, the plum sauce had a strange aftertaste, and the ratatouille was average, and was not served fully hot. The service was rather brisk and curt, giving a feeling that they were rushing us to order. There was a desert menu but it was not offered, which reinforced the sense that they wanted us out in and out, fast. This restaurant seems to be geared to the American military clientele from the nearby base, not an elevated, authentic German restaurant for but more like a Spiesinder (dîner) with elevated prices. read more

Their Jaeger schnitzel is the best schnitzel I've ever tried. It's a bit of a drive to get here, but if you're within the area and you're craving for some down to earth German comfort food, this is the spot for you. Their service is great. Love the 1 liter sized beers on draft and there is a lot of history to this place. You can see it with their paintings and decorations all over the restaurant and bar. Very reasonable prices too. Had 3 liters of beer, the schnitzel and the apple strudel all for under 30€. I would come back and try out their schweinshaxe since they ran out on our visit. read more

We are staying here whilst visiting our son. After a long travel day we decided to eat at the restaurant. Reservations are recommended as they are sometimes quite busy but fortunately we were here on a slower night. The food was very good and the staff extremely friendly. The veal was outstanding. I wanted to try the white asparagus as I've only had it once before. It was good but really kind of lacked the full flavor of asparagus. Salad was nice and potatoes good as well. We also had a glass of reseling (dry) which we both really liked. The atmosphere at this establishment is off the charts and probably worth the visit just for the ambience. We will definitely eat here again this week. Oh and the baked banana desert with ice cream looked outrageous but we were too full to order it ourselves. Hopefully next time. read more

I went with my husband and guests last week. They all enjoy pork and really liked the schnitzel. On the other hand, I don't eat pork or beef and there was no grilled/broiled poultry or fish. It would be great if there was at least one of these options. read more

Nice place, good food. They had a special asparagus season (Spargelzeit) menu, which was great. The only problem was getting a hold of someone to pay, but I think that is more of an issue with restaurants in Germany in general. read more

I was a little skeptical about the good reviews for this restaurant since it is in a hotel, but it really does serve excellent German food. I ended up eating here twice, and in both cases the food and service were excellent. It was quiet both evenings, with less than half the tables taken, but it was also early for dinner by local standards and there were a lot of Reserved tags on the remaining tables. They do have menus in English, and both times the waiter spoke plenty of English as well so no issue if you don't speak Deutsche. Food was well above average across the board. The bread bowl had fantastically fresh and delicious baguette slices, and while my side salad was slightly over-dressed, the contents were great and the dressing was light enough that the over-dressing didn't really matter. Chicken cordon bleu wasn't dried out like they usually are, but the fries were a bit salty for my taste. The standout was the schnitzel special on my first visit though, which came topped with chanterelle mushrooms in sauce and with homemade spätzle. The schnitzel itself wasn't only thinned out and stay nice and moist, and the chanterelles and sauce were excellent. As for the spätzle, it was the best I've had in a while as it was obviously homemade and not watery or slimy like it often is is cheaper German restaurants. Overall an above average meal for an average price; definitely recommended if you're in the area. read more

Had dinner here with the pretty wife. We made reservations because, you never know. The place is a very cozy German style restaurant. They had menu's in English with a good selection of German foods. The wife had a steak with fried potatoes and I had the rack of lamb. We were both very happy with the meal and the service. We got out of there for 55 Euros. The waiter spoke very good English and I saw that they also take credit cards. We plan a return trip in the near future. read more

My wife and I went here for lunch today. Haven't been here for years. The decor is just great. Gives one very comfortable feelings. I had baked cod with potato salad and my wife had Wienerschnitzel with sauerkraut and fries. Both were outstanding; tasty, tender, cooked just right. The service was also great. I was pleasantly surprised with the high quality and quantity of their food although a bit over priced. I was a bit disappointed when I ordered a rack of lamb, but received sliced pieces of lamb instead. The service was very good. read more
