Pallets constantly completed block access to food products on shelves. Pallets have no gaps left in between them to provide access to products. Staff ignores customers. Obnoxious forklifts blow horns at everybody while traveling with Pallets up in the air which seems unsafe. Its the only game in town and they know it. Horrible attitude. read more

So I read some comments regarding lack of customer service. I could not disagree more. I've never had any issues there, and today received help on three different occasions. Each time the employee advised as to where to find what I was looking for. At one point I went to the front desk asking for a particular item that was not on the shelf. He checked the computer, went to the back freezer, and instructed another employee to pull the item down. Apparently it had yet to be put on the shelf. That's service! I like Restaurant Depots and have used them in other states. This is a great place to buy restaurant sized portions of all types of foods. The meats and cheeses are a great price, especially if you have your own slicer. There are all types of supplies and even kitchen appliances you can buy here, as well as plates, aprons, utensils, and much more than just bulk sized portions of food. If you own a large restaurant or a hot dog stand, this is a great place to get supplies you need for the food industry. The store is warehouse looking inside and they do have a huge freezer area with provided coats for customers to use, as you may be in there for 30 minutes getting frozen items and it does get cold, haha. They are not open for the general public, so you must own a business or be affiliated with some sort of food company to get your membership. This is a great place to shop if your a business owner and have your membership. I like being able to go into the cooler (brrr) and have to borrow a parka while they put together my seafood order and they have the best prices hands down. Another great thing here is the quality of food and the large selection. I like to frequent the dessert coolers for when I have company and want to serve something fancy. The store is always clean accessible and very easy to maneuver while shopping aisles are wide and spacious and carts are provided. Another convenience for the food industry is being able to buy your servingware or cookware as well as paper products at significant savings. I've been buying at RD for well over 20 years and this store is certainly no standout for service or management. You don't have to worry about running into anyone with a nice attitude here. Even the St. Pete location is never a mess like the Tampa warehouse. When I started in S. FL, those stores were much better run than Tampa. I never use a credit card here because their system has been "hacked" too many times to remember and therefore my card number was discontinued causing it to be replaced.The "aisle workers" couldn't care less about the customers. That's a general statement but it is widely correct. Sure, for many items their prices are good, but you have to be careful when purchasing certain things. I have never seen the aisles clear and organized in the Tampa store. I would think they would restock after hours so as not to create the havoc that is ever present. And let's not forget about the horrendous checkout at this place. On the best day their system is 'mucked' up! It's horrible when they have 2 lanes opened and someone in front has 2 carts FULL of merchandise. They just don't care how long you wait. They could never use the slogan that Publix has for their customers. "Where shopping is a pleasure" I'm still not sure why they have 2 or 3 people milling around the exit door to glance at the receipts???? I could think of a few other things that they could better spend their time doing. read more

If you think you get good deals at your Sam's, Bj's, or Costco, Restaurant Depot blows those prices away. I am a regular at Sanwa, and it beats their prices too. You need to be a business owner, or friend of a business owner to get in, and membership is free. I went with a friend, and I felt like a kid in a candy store. They even have fresh seafood, and you can buy many things by the pound. I bought a 1 pound can of wild caught blue crab claw meat for $5.75. Frozen shrimp prices are incredible, and they have wild caught as well. There are special deals throughout the warehouse. Oh yes, you need to bring a jacket, and I am not kidding! I also bought smoked gouda cheese for $2.46 per pound, and a just marked down 7 pound piece of corned beef for $2.42 per pound. The cashier was super sweet and helpful but that's were it stops the stock guys were to busy watching videos to be bothered I asked for powder sugar told had to be pulled I saw guy with fork lift pull it then disappeared waited 10 mins nothing so I paid and left now I have to go somewhere else. read more

I call the Restaurant Depot in Tampa a necessary evil. You can't beat the prices, but the customer service is horrible. Aisles are over crowded with pallets of stuff not out away making, it hard to navigate. Half of the people on the floor don't speak English and the other half don't care and move slower than imaginable. Most people there truly don't care about the customers who are making their pay checks. This isn't a one time observation, as I'm a fairly regular customer. read more

I understand you're all on holiday mode and you don't want to be at work. But your customers are what makes you stay in business. I had to drive back 2 hours because I didn't want to open up a new product you guys replaced when I was there at first. And when I made the new purchase, the cashier charged me incorrectly. I brought the product back to customer service and she said I'd have to go back to the cashier to fix my purchase. ???? I had a disabled child in the car waiting, so I didn't have the time to go back.....again! This is my first time ever complaining on ANY business but the majority of the staff here needs to work on their process of empathy. read more

Members only- Nice place if you need to buy bulk for food or restaurant supply. They have freezer section you can enter and they offer you jackets. It is really hit it miss with better prices. Some offerings are better deal then I can get some of the stuff at SAMs club cheaper. They do offer great supply of large meats, seafood fresh and frozen and large cheese supply too. read more

I do concepts for business' and this place is great. Have yet to buy food here and should but I just love the choices of items. If you are a small business that deals in food or coffee whatever it may be give it a walk through and price your stuff, they have some pretty impressive savings with some local establishments. read more

Looks like a warehouse, but it is a good restaurant supply company. There is a nice variety with some unusual products.
