We didn't have a reservation (mid-September) but the host was beyond kind on sneaking us in. A little table in the back was perfect for us and I'm eternally grateful for her kindness. This restaurant feels like a home and they treat you like family. We felt very comfortable and eagerly perused the menu. This is a more new-Swiss style offering and we had to be selective in our choice - we both went with the steak (one big, one small). Being used to American steakhouses my wife was less than impressed. However, I found my 300g steal to be wonderfully cooked, tasty (not busting with flavor as it wasn't seasoned with anything), and filling! The portion was HUGE and I could barely finish it! It fit the bill after a long day of hiking though! Leaving absolutely content with the whole experience I can confidently say that Bären was my favorite meal in Wegen... dare I say all of Switzerland! Oh! Make sure you hit the bathroom as they have some historical pictures on the wall of the region and snowfall, really cool.

The pizza was to go, and it was fantastic. Service was polite and kind, and the view is to die for. I mean literally over the side of the cliff or mountain. It was fantastic. You will spend some money staying here, but well worth it. I went to climb to the top of schlithorn and they had some spare hiking poles for us. They had a laundry deal for you and a few other amenities for you. Even better, then water is spring fed from the mountain. You really couldn't ask for anything better. The people, views and food were lovely. Hubby had their vegetarian pizza, stepson's choice was the cheeseburger meal which was made with locally sourced beef. The utensils were presented in such pretty souvenir packets - nice touch! Prices were reasonable for Switzerland standards. Our waiter (who was also the bartender) was awesome. The waiter and the staff were really quite funny, especially in light of what I would describe as the drunkest woman in Switzerland annoying everyone, staff, customers, any one who walked away from their food. The rotisserie chicken was also excellent, and the fries were perfectly crispy on the outside. I'd never had vegetable bouillon with shredded pancakes before, but I'm a fan now.
