My wife found this B&B through an episode of rick steeves, which is the last I'll say about that. We watched during the plague and just sort of dreamed about going here. So, when we thought about our honeymoon, this was the top of our list. Anyway, it's the perfect quaint hotel/B&B, with probably one of the best views in the world. The staff here are just gems of humanity, and could not be more welcoming, especially their son who was more than happy to sit with us, draw, and talk about gentlemen hats. We stayed two nights, and you really can't do any better with the location; we walked to the neighboring town, and also took the gondala up and down several times to see the neighboring towns. But, the real star here is the food, the beer and the hospitality. I was unaware that they brewed their own beer, a #1 on tapper, and it was some of the best beer we've ever had. We sat for hours on the outside beer garden/patio, both alone and in conversation with the owner, and just made for a real magical experience for us. The breakfast in the morning was lovely, very Swiss and very fresh; the veg was from the garden, and the coffee was killer. Fresh bread to die for, and we even sampled some vegan cheese. Anyway, if you are looking for a place to stay for a few days, on or off season, with just some of the nicest people you can imagine, stay here. We'll remember this place forever, and I bought a hoodie so I can pretend we're there. (To everyone at PG, thank you so much for a wonderful two days)

This review is for a beer and snacks we had at the Pension. It was a 5-star beer, on a 5-star day, on the deck with a 5-star view. Staff was accomodating and the snacks were good. It's a cute old-fashioned place and I suspect is a wonderful place to stay overnight. From Gimmelwald, up the hill is Mürren and down the hill is Lauterbrunnen. You can hike either way and find a lot more hiking!

Cannot best the views...and a great beer selection. Tucked away in peaceful Gimmelwald, this beer garden is a wonderful place to stop for a while. The views are unparalleled, with a beautiful view of the valley and mountains. Reasonably priced, quick service, and that view make this unforgettable and a must do!

We LOVE this quaint hotel/restaurant/bar! Grab a beer and head to the upstairs terrace for the most remarkable mountain views. Free WiFi.

Cold platter and beer

We happened to pass by here on our hike here, and I'm glad we stopped by. We ordered the cold platter, soup, apple cider, and their world famous beer. Everything was delicious and it was a perfect refresher before we had to hit the road again. I would also consider the prices cheap, as almost everything in Switzerland is quite expensive

Spend some quality time here. It's relaxing and laid back. The food, service and staff are also good. There's also a bar if you want to have a few drinks or beers to enjoy while you relax in this gezellig retreat nestled among the mountains. There are many spectacular views as well. Time is definitely well spent here!

Pink pesto pasta - a backpacker special

Pension Gimmelwald has everything you could ever hope for in a restaurant - incredible food and pricing (you can order a backpackers special hot meal for 10CHF from 6-7pm) and the ambience and service are phenomenal as well. The inside is warm and cozy or you can sit on the back deck to enjoy an absolutely stunning view of the Alps. Even after eating there three days in a row we are purposely staying to eat lunch after we checked out of our hotel. Try the potato salad, the chicken sandwich, soups, and definitely the backpacker special!

I don't know HOW this restaurant is rated 4.5 stars. Terrible service, terrible prices, terrible…read morequality. Very poor service: old man running the restaurant was highly impatient and wife scammed us on price conversion -- tip: they only accept cash. The value is terrible. The equivalent of 60USD (50CHF) for a grease-soaked plastic container of fried rice (incredibly bland and tasteless) with a count of (5) small strips of chicken and a heart-attack-inducing greasy noodle dish, served with more salt than is in the Atlantic ocean. We tried to be hospitable and nice to the owner, but they responded with indifference, short temper, and annoyance. Insanely rude service, especially from the chef. Yeah, I understand, the prices in Switzerland are crazy expensive, but I wouldn't feed this food to my dog. Not worth $30 a dish. My tip? Don't go. Unless you want to be insulted and go to the least hospitable place in Murren.

We were able to try it and there is limited seating. We were able to sit outside, and the view is amazing. Don't get me wrong, still a pretty cool place. However, the places we have ate it just were top notch. The other reviews are pretty accurate. It tastes authentic, the egg role and egg drop soup is delicious. The service is good, and everything comes out in a timely manner. However, the pad thai lacked some flavor and maybe I should've asked for it to be spicier. We had the fried rice, and again the seasoning lacked on it. I mean it was good, but it didn't taste as fresh as some of the other places we went to. Good not great, and probably the best choice for asian in this small town.

So are a bunch of other places too here, but good lord. You really cannot go wrong here. Again, this review is from late July 2024. We had lunch here, and a beer. They have ragen brau, which is my favorite beer. I looked into seeing if we can get some in the states, and that's a no go. Sadly enough. This is such good beer, I mean absolutely amazing. For dessert, apfelkuchen was a must to have. Since I didn't get any in germany. So weird. This was delicious. She had a burger with egg, and fries. Absolutely amazing. Just check out the pictures here. I had the swiss cheese and pickle/caper pasta. I mean, pickles and cheese is a british thing. Huge huge fan of it, and the swiss did such a great job with it too. Service was alittle longer than normal, but totally worth it. You are not their for speed, you are there for the view and the company. I mean dang, I got both. A beautiful wife to enjoy this moment with, and an amazing meal. Thank ya

We liked everything we ordered . The iced coffee was perfect. Really liked the ice cream flavors, we got the mango, caramel and strawberry. Overall the food was flavorful and the portions sizes were good. One thing I do find strange is that once we get the servers bring the food, nobody ever comes to check to see if you need anything, they just disappear. It's not just this restaurant but almost all the restaurants we visited in Switzerland. I took a star off because of that. Once lunch was done, I had to go in and find them to pay for the lunch and leave. The servers are nowhere to be found. If travel internationally just use you Apple Pay or credit card to pay. You don't need to carry around local currency.
