To start, I rarely will rate below a 2 stars, but this was not it. I was highly anticipating this restaurant because my paragliding guide, who has lived here forever, recommended it, but Interlaken surely has a few better Swiss food options and this is not one of them. If you care about the actual food, skip this place. I care about food far more than service, and this place was a huge disappointment. I ordered the beef stew, which my waitress recommended, and the meat was unbearably dry and chewy, not even the gravy could save it. Seriously, it was the worst-quality beef I can remember having at a restaurant. The Pinot Noir was excellent, but that was the only highlight. I had a reservation for 9 and showed up early at 8:45. On the phone they had said the kitchen closed at 9:30, but when I arrived no one attended my table until 8:58, when the waitress rushed over and told me the kitchen closes at 9. Meanwhile, the table next to me placed their order at 9:15 without issue. There was no silverware on the table, and I was never checked on once after my food arrived, which was very frustrating. The most frustrating part is that my meal for one person, including the dish and two glasses of wine, was $50 Franks. For that price, I expect far better quality. I expect better, truly. We had a nice lunch here. We were placed in the extra room lined with bells used for ringing in some sort of contest. I had a truly delicious roasted garlic soup...I am determined to find a recipe ...and a Cordon Bleu which is Switzerland appears to consistently done with pork, not chicken breast. Greeted and seated promptly. Low lighting for an intimate ambiance. I'd say the interior gives off a contemporary feel. Restaurant is pretty large; it has 2 sections with plenty of seating. Im in Switzerland for the first time and really wanted to try traditional Swiss food. A local recommended this place to me and I was excited for the experience. Sadly, things did not go at all how I expected. Our waitress was incredibly rude and checked on other tables 3 times before coming to ours. While I know Switzerland is incredibly expensive, this place was extremely over priced for both the quality of the food and the awful service. Would not recommend it to any tourists. read more

Located in the center of Interlaken, the establishment has been for a long time and is visited by travelers and locals. The menu is typical for restaurants and cafes in Switzerland, with about a dozen main courses. However, the food was prepared in a traditional fashion and very tasty. I have two recommendations- the Wiener schnitzel and reservations. Sitting outside on a beautiful evening is a relaxing way to enjoy the end of day hiking, paragliding, golf or sightseeing. read more

TOURIST TRAP! my american friends and i went here and the waiter was so rude, purposely avoided our table and didn't bring things to us when we requested water, bread, etc. she was visibly nicer to the surrounding tables and was constantly checking up on them. she didn't check up on us once. every time we needed her we had to call her over. when we asked for the check she disappeared for 10 minutes and then returned saying she would need more time to split the check. as if it wasn't bad enough we got charged 9 franc for the tap water and then they added random charges to run up the receipt. mind you, we didn't order drinks, only got 4 entrees (around 30 each), total ended up being 186 franc. then i called once we got home and asked to speak to the manager, i explained our experience and before i could finish she hung up on me. then i called back telling her we would be leaving a review and she said "fine we won't serve you anymore." horrible experience tourists avoid. read more

The service was remarkably bad as soon as the waitress found out we were foreign, she became extremely rude, and did not come to our table for a solid 30 minutes after we were seated. Unfortunately we decided to stay, after watching other tourists get up and leave because they were receiving the same treatment. We were charged 9 francs for TAP WATER, and did not receive appetizers we had ordered. After about an hour of watching other tables receive their food, we decided that we were going to ask for the check as soon as she gave us our attention. When we did so, she was extremely rude and told us we needed to wait 2 minutes, and then proceeded to disappear for 10-15 minutes. The bill came out to be far more than any of us were expecting, with each of us paying 40-50 dollars for tap water and entrees. I sincerely have never had such a bad dining experience, so after the dinner we decided to call them to tell them about the issues we experienced. My wife and I enjoyed a tremendous dinner here. She had the Wiener schnitzel and I enjoyed the fried fish. I don't eat fried food often but don't eat meat at all. So when my choices were limited I went and ordered maybe the best fish ever. The fish was delicious, don't let the capers and anchovies throw you off. The meal was superb. My wife just kept raving about how delicious her meal was. We play a game when trying a new restaurant and we rate it at the same time as to not influence rash other we have r this place a 9-9.5 out of 10. Only due to the bread being hard and old tasting. Interlaken is crawling with tourists who are served by an array of Indian, Thai and Swiss-kitsch restaurants. However, just across the isthmus in Unterseen, it is possible to find an authentic Swiss restaurant. The Stadthaus in Unterseen is the kind that local residents go to. The ambience is modern with a respect for history. The service is efficient and attentive. Most importantly, the food is excellent. For example, a simple green salad is more than that. Likewise, the classic bratwurst with rösti is way above average in presentation and taste. To top it off, the house ale was revelation. The best advice I can give you is, get the goulash! Everyone in our party got amazing food - haxe, Wiener schnitzel, and the previously mentioned goulash. Unfortunately, I made the wurst selection. While everyone else had these amazing dishes in both presentation and taste, mine was pretty much pan fried hot dog slices with American fries. I was really excited to eat here after it was recommended to us by our hotel. I had been craving a burger and was thrilled to see one on the menu. I also ordered the potato soup. Honestly, I thought that the food was very good. What concerned me was when someone in my party asked for a refill on their water and the waitress said to go inside and get it. I've never eaten in a restaurant where the sever makes you go inside and get your own refill. Not good service at all. We had a wonderful meal here last night. We shared two dishes: bratwurst, and welsh rarebit. Both were excellent and we snarfed those down pretty quickly. The welsh rarebit was topped with a fried egg which really added a great boost. The bratwurst was on a perfect bed of shredded potatoes (think hash browns but better), and sautéed onions. Exquisite. Our server was so nice, a British woman who was helpful with our menu decisions, and very pleasant to chat with. We enjoyed the atmosphere inside, although there are plenty of tables on the two outdoor areas. This meal was the best we had in Interlaken, and we will enjoy the memory of our meal there. read more

Excellent Swiss and eclectic food in the old historic part of Interlaken. I had a delicious lamb ragout in a red sauce with herb dumplings over dill sour cream sauce- more like potato pancakes than American style dumplings. All parties in my group were happy with their food- Wiener schnitzel, bratwurst, curry sausage and meatloaf. Pumpkin soup was delicious - more brothy, savory and light than American style. Great food in a finer that normal ambiance. This is not fine dining, but one step below. We tried the burger, pork cutlet (which is a nice size chop) and the alpina rosti. Burger and chop are the winners. Beer selection is very good, in particular their home brewed beer. At the end of the meal our main waitress tried to make us feel guilty for not eating everything. We ordered dessert from her anyways, a second come over and asked us if we wanted dessert and we told her that we already ordered the chocolate cake. A third waiter brought us our cake followed by the first waitress with a second order. Instead of apologizing for the mistake she scolded us, left it on the table and charged us anyways. Not sure if nationality was an issue or not, but service was incredibly slow, the fondue was really salty, and we had to chase down the waitress to be able to pay our bill after we'd been finished eating and with our drinks dry for over 40 minutes. Great local, farm to table restaurant in the old town area. Menu has great variety of local and housemade favorites. House made beers, local smoked trout, killer meat and cheese plate... We live in Chicago and travel a lot and always looking for good places to eat. This place could compete in any major city. It has a great local feel and food is super high quality. Loved this place so much we ate dinner here both nights we stayed in Interlaken. All of their products are locally grown and produced. Better value for the price than most other places we've been in Switzerland, and their quality and service was top notch. Reasonable kids menu. Nice patio to eat outside.
