Wasn't as good as I remembered it years ago. It's like a Mexican Denny's. Many different food options. So it's great for groups or ppl who want a variety. The cocina is located in middle of restaurant so you can see them cooking in action. Service is good. Can't complain. Prices are fairly cheap. You take your receipt & pay at the counter. They also have their own private lot. It can get busy. I'd come here again when I'm not in the mood to try something new or can't decide where I want to eat. read more

First visit to this restaurant was approximately 25 years ago, I recall the food and service as one of the best in Tijuana, food tasted as though my abuelitas had been cooking all day, the hand made corn tortillas were perfection, and the wait staff made us feel like family. Now that I'm married and once again living in Tijuana, I wanted my spouse to try this unforgettable restaurant. We arrived around 4 pm on a Tuesday, the dining room is slightly different than I remember, a lot less tables with ample room between each dining party (Covid precautions). We ordered albóndigas and picadillo, each of which were exceptional. The tortillas are just as I remember, beyond-words-delicious! He order the consomé and I went with the cream corn soup (dinner plates include a soup option), the consomé and corn soup were quite honestly...chefs kiss!!! After our meals we split one of the rice puddings, again each meal comes with a dessert, but we were stuffed and I took mine to go. All in all, the meal was everything I had hoped for and my husband was pleasantly content. We look forward to returning to Restaurante Mexicano the next time we're craving home cooked, grandma style food. Highly recommend this restaurant to any all lovers of Mexican food!!! The food is not that good here. I thought because of the ratings that I'd be blown away with authentic Mexican cuisine but sadly I was disappointed. First of all, our waiter was hesitant to continue taking our order because she felt we were ordering too much. Ummmm I shouldn't have been deterred but I was. This is one of favorite places for authentic Mexican food particularly breakfast. The breakfast combos are the best deal as all combos comme with a side of beans, potatoes, chicharron en salsa roja and chilaquiles rojos. I ordered the Jarocho combo which is 3 enfrijoladas with egg filling and sprinkled with chorizo. For some reasom the chorizo wasn't really good this time, but everything else on the plate was delish. They also have a great natural juices selection. My fav is beets, carrots and orange juice. You can't leave without trying their cafe de la olla. As an avid drinker, I'm always looking for the best hangover remedy or a soothing serving of delicious food. A friend's relative whom lives in Tijuana recommended this restaurant. As soon as I walked in, I noticed servers delivering bowl after bowl of menudo. Having a hangover from hell coupled with the hunger of a beast, I immediately set my mind to a bowl of menudo. Upon getting my bowl, I was eager to add the traditional toppings but knew I had to taste it in its natural form. My first sip of the broth was impressive. In fact so impressive that I continued to eat it as is. However, i did eventually add lime, cilantro, onion, and oregano. It didn't make it any better but man was that menudo delicious as hell. I like this place and the food. I have been there about four times and each time the food was good, fast and consistent. The pricing isn't bad either. I've only eaten breakfast and lunch there so this review isn't about dinner, although the dinner is probably good too. I really like they have counter seating and you can watch them cook the food while you wait. They serve traditional Mexican food and it seems to be a place only locals go. We had breakfast and everything was good. We came on Sunday morning, they had music (Estudiantina) that was really good. The service is top notch and super friendly, Yvon was our server and we couldn't have been happier with her. My wife speaks Spanish, so it was easy to communicate. Not sure if anyone in the restaurant speaks english, but I'm sure they'll accommodate, if needed. The coffee was great, the Juices are really fresh and blended right in the restaurant (does not get any fresher than that!) After they brought two, of the four dishes out, also brought free soup, to the two of us waiting, for our food so the others didn't have to wait to eat. We will be back and will recommend Restaurante Mexicano to our family and friends. read more

Came to Tijuana originally for some tacos after going to the bar. Everything was unfortunately closed as far as tacos went. This place was recommended to us by or taxi driver && its 24 hours ! This Place was AWESOME ! I decided to get the picadillo plate with rice & beans with a fresh squeezed glass of orange juice. My husband got the Tuesday breakfast special which was originally my choice but he stole it from me lol. Kinda glad I didn't get it because there was so much food on that plate ! It had chilaquiles verdes, chicharrón en chile roja a bistec de asada with rice beans and homemade corn tortillas. Food was great and service was so sweet and the prices were great !! Paid $25 with a $8 tip included. Prices here in the states would of been a good $40 but if you ever want some good breakfast I promise you that this place will comfort your stomach and you'll walk out of here happy and full asf. Been coming here for many many year and before my generation and my daughters it was my parents... love the service and the food!!!! They don't use LARD and many may know I'm allergic to pork... so I can eat anything I want. The prices are super reasonable and it come with soup and dessert (arroz com leche) if u get the meals special. They are open 24/7. If you are going to be visiting this great place for breakfast make sure that you are ready to wait because it is popping!!! The corn tortillas are freshly made there... just by thinking about made me hungry. Our favorite servers are Evelia and Martha and the general manager is so nice and welcoming. Another good place to eat while in TJ. Our dishes included an asada mulita, asada taco, chicken mole, and the Sunday special which was barbacoa de borrego. Chicken mole and barbacoa was served wih rice and beans and came with a bowl of soup. Soup options were beef broth, fideo soup, or cream of corn soup. We opted for the corn soup. Also ordered a side of guacamole. All items were yummy. I would certainly recommend this place. It was very reasonably priced. The food is also great but she makes it the most wonderful and inviting experience ever. Her smile, amazing attitude and prompt customer service is incredible We recently went to the restaurant and were served by another waitress and the difference was instantly noticed.. the waitress was not inviting... we waiting a long time for the food and she also had an bad attitude.. her service made us never want to come back but today we decided to go and see if Martha was there and thankfully she was! This place is legit! It's home cooking old school style. We had the green chicken enchiladas w/ rice and beans, and corn soup, Café con leche. This place radiates good clean food , organic , outstanding service , as you walk in you seat yourself. They will start you with some delicious homemade salsa and fresh chips and handmade tortillas that they are to die for and one of their signature dish crema de elote , cream of corn soup . A friend of mine had recommended this restaurant a few months back but hadn't had the chance to stop by. Being that it was almost 9pm & we were starving I remembered about this place.. So happy I remembered! Everything was so good. Cafe de olla is sooo good with the perfect sweetness & boldness. My husband and I both ordered crema de Elote which is so tasty! I ordered enchiladas suizas rice and beans.. The green sauce was so good and I like that the enchiladas weren't soggy but they weren't dry, they had the right amount of sauce. My husband ordered estofado Azteca which is meat in red sauce, the meat melted in your mouth! Everything was so good including Agua de piña.. I found this place on Yelp no decided to give it a try but it was not easy. I crossed over and caught a cab and told him "Restaurante Mexicano" Poe favor. He replied which one? So the Marx Brothers routine started. My phone failed me so I had him drop me off in Centro so I could WiFi the directions and down a quick margarita and popped back into the cab and flashed him the map. Didn't help much as he kept saying into his phone Restauante Mexicano" which brought up a hundred or so options. After trying to,picture the map in my head-because I had closed my phone- we drove round for awhile. He called dispatch to no avail. After awhile he told me he knew of a great place for Mexican food and I just said just take me there. A few minutes later he drops me at a out of the way place and I look up and the sign on the building says "Restaurante Mexicano". So after a bit of WTF and LOL I went in and it was crowded all right. Had the Thursday special and it was just ok. But four stars as it looked like everyone else was happy and the line for take out long. Maybe I just ordered to wrong thing.
