Mezzanine is my favorite place for thai food in Tulum. The view is beautiful and the staff is amazing. I always recommend this place.

Great food! Great ambiance. It was a quick drive. The server's were on it! The food was service style was native on bamboo pads, cotta bowls and wrapped in banana leaves! Delicious! Nothing like the Thai food in California. The have indoor and out door dining. Kitchen is located upstairs. It got really windy so bring a light wrap. There's a swing for photo ops and a path that leads down to the ocean. Careful they were pretty big steps. read more

If you are looking for good Thai food, great happy hour deal, chill ambiance and less crowded space then congrats this is the restaurant to go to!! We randomly found this place after our beach time and didn't want to look further because I was hangry haha. Who knew, their happy hour starts at 1pm ends at 4pm which was perfect for that day. Who knew, they actually have really authentic Thai food and the prices are reasonable! Who knew, they have live DJ on a Wednesday relaxing afternoon! Who knew, you can get he ocean view without actually stepping on the sand and being exposed under the sun after already sun bathing after couple hours. I would say the margarita happy hour is really worth it compared to the average price by the beach and the drinks are legit - tasty and refreshing, oh yeah you will definitely feel it if you have 4 like we did lol. Food wise I ordered the shrimp with cashew it was about average. My husband ordered the beef dish (it's called Som Tom you're welcome) it came with coconut rice and a refreshing side salad, man oh man I can get that everyday!! So glad we checked Mezzanine out. Definitely reserve a table in advance to be able to get a beachside view; it was very relaxing at night. The cocktails and food were all great, no complaints about anything. Also liked the food presentation, it added a little extra pizzazz! read more

We came for lunch after wanting some Thai and reading the mixed, but mostly good reviews. I'm so glad we came. The food was delicious and super flavorful. We ordered the tequila dumplings, the crispy money bags, and the red chicken curry with two peppers of heat level. Two of us shared all of that and it was plenty of food. (The waiter even split the meal for us so that we could have it in two dishes and didn't have to eat off of side plates) I don't know what some of the other reviewers were talking about in regards to flavor. Our dishes were delicious. You have an option of one to three peppers of spice level. We chose two and I was blowing my nose halfway through the meal. It's was a good level of spice. Not too much, but definitely noticeable. Drinks were happy hour starting at one. My boyfriend got the red dragon and loved it. For $33 I got the largest pitcher of sangria that could probably feed 5. The atmosphere and service are great too. Come here. You won't regret it. read more

I don't like to write reviews like this, but after all the HYPE on this spot.... My husband and I were very disappointed but not only that, I was sick the entire night after eating the chicken dumpling appetizer, which tasted like dog food. The dumplings fell apart and after we had the first one realized the chicken meat inside was like dark, chicken scraps. Really terrible quality. We left immediately after appetizer, if a restaurant can't get an appetizer right, I am not sticking around to see if they get their entrees right. The server was sweet, that was about it. read more

Excellent Thai food and a relaxed atmosphere. Outside you can hear the waves lapping the shore and inside it feels intimate and special. Food was well executed and had the depth of spices required, and good variation on levels if heat. The Mayan sacrifice dessert liqueur coffee was tasty but just order it for the theatrics! When I lived here 12 years ago, Mezzanine was my favorite restaurant on the beach. I will say it is again, without a doubt, my favorite restaurant on the beach! The view, the service, the food, the vibe and the patrons all contribute to the energy of this exquisite place. We began with the sauteed mushroom appetizer which had the perfect combination of sauce, mushrooms, rice and and chili. The presentation was beautiful and since we were celebrating, we also began with a bottle of Proseco! For dinner, I had the Koh Samui Special grilled fish - the fish was so buttery it melted in my mouth and again, the perfect combination of rice, french beans and sauce. My friend had the Shrimp Special with yellow curry sauce. Both of the dishes came out the perfect temperature and in a beautiful presentation. Our waiter was attentive, arrived at just the right times and enhanced our celebration with his lovely energy and smile! When we saw a Thai place next to our hotel (Diamante K) I thought, Thai food in Mexico? I dont know. But it was our last night and we had just been snacking all day so we were starving and it was only a short walk. I could not have been more happy that we decided to check it out! The hotel it is in is a very cute boutique hotel and the restaurant is nestled in the back with a FANTASTIC view. Service was pretty good, but there were a few times where we didn't know who was our server or if we had more than one server, but it was fine. Food was absolutely delicious. I got the spring rolls and lamb. The lamb was cooked to perfection. After snacking most of our trip, this was a much needed hearty meal. Drinks were also super tasty. I was skeptical of a Thai place in Tulum, but I guess awesome beach vibes translate pretty well no matter what part of the world you're in! The restaurant features tables on a patio with the most breathtaking ocean view. I recommend going for an early dinner so you can enjoy the vista and the sunset. On my second visit we were there later at night and though it was still awesome to hear the waves crashing as we enjoyed our meal, it was pretty dark out and it was hard to see our own food, let alone the view! The thing that stands out most to me about Mezzanine besides the view is the incredible service. There's lots of friendly service in Tulum, but at Mezzanine I felt like I was at a fancy five star white tablecloth type place, though the food and prices were casual. Both of the servers I had were so sweet, so attentive, so classy. From the moment they greeted us with free shots to the last bite of dessert, it was a really special experience thanks to them. As for the food, it's absolutely delicious. It's definitely up there in the best Thai food I've had outside of Thailand. The menu is pretty straightforward, but the ingredients are incredibly fresh and the flavors are nice and bold. The crispy money bags were my favorite app, though the crab wontons were surprisingly delicious too. I'm used to cream cheesy and oily crab wontons from American Chinese food places, but this dish featured real, fresh crab and only a subtle hint of cheese. I had the Khao Pad Basil, a traditional fried rice, with fish for $225 pesos. It was a teeny bit salty, but the fish was incredible and I ate every last bite. The second time I was there I went with a classic pad thai with tofu, which I have to admit was more conventional but then again, I ordered a pretty conventional dish, so it was to be expected. My least favorite part of my visits there was the dessert. We went with a tropical cheesecake, but I was disappointed to find that this particular cheesecake didn't come with a crust. And though the description said it was light and fluffy, it was actually quite dense, so it kind of tasted like cutting into a block of cream cheese with some fruit syrup on top. Hey, can't win 'em all I guess. Though my sweet tooth wasn't satisfied with the dessert, it was over the moon when it came to cocktails. I highly recommend the Muay Thai cocktail, a mix of roasted pineapple infused rum, Aperol, mint, and orgeat. It was like a more refined, adult version of the flavor of a white Lifesaver. We had a terrible experience here celebrating my mom's 75th birthday. We made a reservation and told them of the significance. When we showed up, they had no record of our reservation and sat us in a windy hallway up a flight of stairs right next to the kitchen. They tried to adjust the windows but then it just got very hot. As darkness descended the fluorescent light beaming out of the kitchen completely ruined any attempted ambiance of the dimly lit lights around us. We ordered drinks and food for the kids first. I have no idea why but the restaurant decided to hold off on delivering our drinks until the kids' food was ready, which was about 30 minutes. After that it was a long wait to order. And then we had to wait nearly an hour for our entrees to come out. By then, the fluorescent light had given a few of us a headache. And we had long finished our drinks, and not a single person was coming by to offer us more. At that point I'd had enough and I had us all move down to the beach deck, where it was less windy, the lighting was tolerable, and we had more space. Unfortunately, this area was not kid safe, there were several places kids could fall 8+ feet if we weren't policing them. And also a couple pools. The saving grace was the food. Which was just so, so incredibly expensive, but at least it was delicious. I am glad that my mom got to have dinner on the beach for her birthday. But I'm certain there's a lot of places that would have done a significantly better job than Mezzanine -- probably any other restaurant. read more

We were staying at the nearby Mi Amor and decided to use our drink coupons and go have dinner at their sister hotel Mezzanine. We made the rounds of all the Colibri hotel restaurants to use up our drink coupons, and Mezzanine was the only one that wasn't wonderful. The atmosphere was nice and beachy, with a restaurant and bar that overlook the beach, but after our bad experience there, we ended up not wanting to return. We had a couple of different cocktails. Even for free drinks, these were awful, and neither of us finished. We also asked for water, and they automatically brought us a very fancy, expensive bottle of water, when we just wanted the free stuff. We started with a few appetizers, and they were so terrible, greasy, and poorly balanced that we decided not to get dinner there. Service was not great. I definitely wouldn't go back, especially when Mi Amor's much better restaurant is within walking distance. read more

Delicious Thai dining experience with what has to be one of the best seaside overlooks imaginable, just south of the Las Palmas public beach. The kitchen most definitely modifies spice levels based upon typical tourist tastes (see - practically removes all spiciness) so be ready to ask for the heat if that's your thing. Service is excellent and the cocktail, beer & wine selections provided a great variety. Would definitely recommend the experience of eating here not only for the view and sound of the sea, but because the kitchen and front of house do a tremendous job too. Prices I feel are reasonable for a finer dining experience that carefully lacks prevention and welcomes the casual visitor. Also, if you happen to be staying anywhere north of Playa Las Palmas - the walk home from Mezzanine along the beach is open, available and very much my recommendation to a great ending to the evening. read more

Never one to consider Yelp reviews as gold - but this place is exactly what everyone reviews it to be. Great views, quality and tasty food, awesome drinks and surprisingly low key and not crowded. Traveling alone and took my a bike down here for a good dinner and view. Did not disappoint. Staff was wonderful and attentive. Plan to spend what you would in the states - drinks are $10 and wine around $15(although in Mexico seems bottles aren't any different than going by glass) - food from $15-$35 but if you're one to find the price with it for good food - this is your place to go, without breaking the bank. read more
