While the views and ambiance here are wonderful, that's pretty much where the experience stops. I came here for a bachelorette party and I have to say everything from the drinks to the food were extremely disappointing. The drinks were extremely sour (I got a margarita and an espresso martini and both were not good) and the food was overcooked and lack flavor (I got the shrimp tacos which were inedible). To add to this, the service was extremely slow. This dinner took 4 hours and it was terrible to leave hungry while spending a good amount. I would go elsewhere than come here. read more

This is one of my go to places when in Tulum. Drinks are good but no happy hour. They do have a lovely set up and private beach so it's comfortable. The fish tacos and barbacoa tacos are divine. Highly recommend but stay away from the oatmeal pancakes. I thought they would be similar to regular flapjacks with oats in the batter. What I got was literally pancakes made of actual oatmeal put on the griddle. Haha! Service is usually good but often feels rushed. Still one of my fave spots though. read more

My family and I stopped at Casa Maria for lunch after spending the morning at the beach in Tulum. The whole complex, including the hotel and restaurant, was amazing and beautifully designed. When we arrived, there was no one else at the restaurant yet. The server informed us that they were only accepting cash because the credit card machine was not working. Despite this, the staff was very attentive, frequently checking on us and taking our orders promptly. My kids got lemonade, and my wife and I enjoyed Victoria beers. We ordered fish, shrimp, and sirloin tacos, with the fish tacos being my favorite. My kids had chicken with mole and cheese empanadas. The food was delicious! However they charge valet parking even when I'm the only car that was there which is a bit annoying given that I was planning on spending money there anyway. We had dinner at casa maria during our trip to tulum. We went on a Wednesday night and they had live music. It was raining so we were seated inside the restaurant but we had a great time. Terrible staff, especially at the bar. Ordered a drink to take to the beach and got a cold reception. The bartender started gossiping with someone else behind the bar in Spanish about the way I looked, calling me an ogre. I might be white, but I speak Spanish. I felt so grossed out and humiliated as a woman being ridiculed by two grown men, I just walked back to my hotel room. Didn't go back to the restaurant or bar the rest of my stay. Whenever I go somewhere tropical... seafood and fresh fruits are a must! So I stumbled upon casa Maria thinking I was heading to a restaurant ... but it wasn't. It was a whole private mini resort. Even though my friend and I weren't guests there we were still given a warm greeting and top tier service. The resort had a natural vibe to it with myan ornamentation . I had a delightful piña colada with fried fish. That fried fish took me two days to eat, but shockingly it was served with a mere half cup of rice. It is a beautiful hidden location. We took the advice of yelps review, and it was spot on. We came for lunch after visiting the Tulum ruins & while it was off the beaten path, it was well worth it! Emanuel was the most gracious host. We weren't sure where to park, so we walked in & he immediately had someone guide us where to park. We enjoy the fantastic oceanfront dining experience with lobster, fish & shrimp tacos & grilled shrimp plates. We washed it all down with the local Tulum Lager. Probably one of the best views by far with the ocean right in front of you. The scenery is perfect & when we got there it was pretty slow. Our server was super attentive and the best part about it was the buy 1 get 1 margarita happy hour! For the food we ordered the fried fish and lobster! My friend had the lobster and steak. I had fresh grilled fish. Another friend had fajitas and elote. The food was so good I helped myself to my friends plates as well The restaurant is on the grounds of a hotel that has bungalow style 'rooms' and is directly on the beach. Reservations are preferred for outdoor seating but there were tables available indoors next to the window. So beach vibes were still occurring. Getting here was a bit scary at first. It was dark and we came down a long stretch of road with lots of construction and armed guards. It's inside the Tulum national park. Besides that mini adventure to get here, the walk up is beautiful sandy jungle that the restaurant is giving total Tulum vibes. Live music, not too loud. The food was amazing. I had grilled Octopus that was perfect, my friend had shrimp fajitas that she enjoyed and our cocktails were delicious. Our service was great from start to finish. Found this place on the recommendation of our Yelp Family, and was not disappointed. Ate here for our last night at Tulum, parking was very tight and we ended up paying around $7 for parking. The ambience and location was fantastic, the opportunity to eat on the beach and watch the sunset. I watching the rolling water and having some drinks was amazing. Food was fantastic, this place was definitely on the pricier side, we paid around American rates/ resort prices, ( $20 - $40 per person ) so this is definitely a bit of splurge dinner or lunch. Jhony was a great server and answered all our questions about the menu since there are lots of good choices and we needed help narrowing down. Not a fan had the stuffed pepper with shrimp and the beans and rice not very good and here's the issue is that they had artisanal beers on the menu they told they where out of them but they had one and I said that is fine and ordered it and the price came in at 195 pesos versus on the other artisanal beers where at 140 so be aware it seems the waiters are shafting me. We had dinner their 21Jan. We needed to have reactions in order for the military to let us have access to the road to get there. The service was wonderful. The ambiance romantic, on the beach, dimly lit. The craft cocktails were great. We ordered the shrimp dumplings, avocado salad, lobster with garlic mojo, and the Baja fish tacos. The shrimp dumplings were tasty but the sauces was a bit off. The avocado salad was yummy but a bit salty from the green olives and cheese. But really it was the best thing. The lobster was disappointing. It was over marinated which either denatured the protein and then overcooked. It gasket like teriyaki chicken. What a waste of $80. The tacos were ok. Nothing special.
