The concierge of our hotel recommended Vicente and it did not disappoint. It has both indoor and outdoor seating. We opted to sit inside and the atmosphere was cozy and charming. The staff was attentive, friendly, and gave us many suggestions on items to order from the menu. Appetizer Highlights- -Octopus Salad - refreshing & light -Bulhao Pato Mushrooms - if you like mushrooms, this is a must. -Codfish Fritters -Shrimp Tacos Entree Highlights- -Calf Cheeks - they were so tender, they fell apart as we dished them out onto our plates. -The Grilled Steak & Sirloin Steak were cooked exactly like we requested (medium rare) and had good flavor. I ordered the goat cheese and beet salad along with a gazpacho soup. Both are very tasty. However, the salad had these massive wonton type of garnish, which actually had the goat cheese inside of it so eating the beef salad with that was kind of difficult. Also, a salad is mostly made up of the red, dark cabbage or ratichio type of lettuce it's hard to chew so I had to cut it up pretty well. I probably won't order it again to take a long time to eat. The soup was delicious. It's more of a purée which is the first time I've had it that way, it was talked with a few croutons and some olive oil. The building definitely had a lot of character. It was very busy. We got there kind of early so we were seated right away although I would recommend reservation reservations. Service was OK. We kept having to stop our waitress to get water and I asked three times for the bill, but she was pleasant nonetheless. I would go back to this place to try more of their foods. We loved the atmosphere of this restaurant. Has a very old time feeling, but with modern fixtures/lights. The service was great/quick. We ordered burgers and they were huge and filled with a bunch of delicious toppings. Mine had bacon, cheese, and a fried egg, and two burger patties. It was very filling and as an American I can vouch and say this is a great burger! The wine was only 5 euro a glass, and was pretty good for what it was (im not a wine snob). Overall, I'd recommend coming here if you are looking for a cool atmosphere or a really good burger. read more

We licked our plates clean on the Octopus Salad and Steak Tartare (we're still thinking about how good both tasted!). So good I came and had the exact same meal two nights in a row! Work buddy found the place and got reservations, went with the house bread, roasted sausage appetizer, and the entrecôte (ribeye?). Everything was great, service was friendly, and the place is a great mix of old and new decor without being too forced. As soon as I walked in I could tell this quaint restaurant would be a favorite!! We shared everything and everything was fabulous!! Only regret was not being able to finish it all. Three of us shared three apps and two entrees. Honestly could have just used one entree. Don't miss the tempura green beans, delightful!! We also had the steak tartare, and smoked sausage. Sausage was salty for my liking but incredible flavor!! For emtrees we had the pork, and braised calf cheeks. Both unique and very tender proteins. Wow this is a hidden gem in my opinion ! The shrimp taco: the order comes with two, it does not taste like any other regular shrimp taco. It has vegetables and some sort of garlic sauce. So good, have to try. Shrimps "Al ajillo": wow we loved this we got it twice! The sauce in indescribable but reminds me of a Spain gambas plate. I would return just for this to be honest. The steak: I am not a big steak person, but the steak was yummy and cooked to my liking. The only thing I did not like was the drink portions, my glass came half empty. Unfortunately, I had a truly unsatisfying meal. The octopus salad was terrible. One inch chunks mixed with a few tomatoes, onions, and a flavorless vinaigrette. The steak I had was pretty much one of the worst ever. I ordered it medium rare, and it came out as rare as I've ever seen. I asked for it to be cooked more and they stuck it under the broiler for 5 minutes. It was better. To be clear, it had flavor. Not a lot, but it did. The flavor wasn't the issue. I was too hungry to send it back again. Now, sometimes the chefs go down a notch. For example, you order medium, but you get medium rare. This isn't the case. Additionally, what made it the most terrible was the texture. I've had leather that was easier to cut through. The service was OK. Nothing great. Nothing bad, pretty much unremarkable. Slow if anything. It might be OK for burgers as it seems to be in a lot of reviews as being pretty good. I've been in Lisbon for two weeks and have yet to have a bad meal until now. We went to restaurant Vicente on the recommendation of our hotel for good seafood. Turns out it was more a steak/hamburger/taco place. No problem. We started with olive/cheese/bread platter. There were 4 of us and received 3pieces of bread(had to order more bread). The soft cheese was phenomenal!! We ordered a smash burger (great), mushroom burger(really good), fish tacos (spicy) and steak Vicente. The burgers were really good and came with potatoes chips that were borderline stale. They forgot the tacos, so we had to wait for that order while everyone else ate. The steak was ordered "well done" and came out blood rare! Of course no one actually came by to check on us, so the the steak was eaten around the edges! Finally, when a waiter asked how the meal was, we told him the steak was cooked completely wrong. His response was defensive saying he did not put the order in and was only checking on us??WTF....They gave us a piece of chocolate cake to make up for it, which turned out to be very good. The wait staff was very distracted the entire time we were there, it appeared they all just wanted their smoke break and were not interested in their job. Upon leaving the waiter asked my wife if the cake was good, she said yes, and he replied in a snarky manner "I think you are lying". Just down right rude. The bill was wrong,charged us for water but we had tap water, so did not say anything as that was their tip! read more

My husband was craving Mexican food so ordered the fish tacos which were completely bland. I was excited to have lamb chops, and what I was served was the equivalent of one or two lamb chops sliced paper thin, like minute steaks, overdone, poorly seasoned and tough and the vegetables that came with were overcooked and soggy. We had had a really big lunch and many treats (pastries and ice cream) throughout the day so we wanted something light, but tasty. We sat on their little terrace, which was cute. Both my boyfriend and I ordered the roast beef salad, which was basically roast beef, mixed greens, green beans, beets, roasted zucchini, and a dijon dressing. It was absolutely divine! The mushroom risotto was delicious, as well as the fried been sticks (what a snack!). The sirloin steak was 8 out of 10, which is decent enough. This was my favorite discovery in all of Lisbon. From the street, you can see into the cave-like interior, and we just had to check it out. We had already eaten dinner, so we were here for wine. But for fellow vegan travelers, our waitress pointed out two things on the menu that were vegan or could be easily made vegan. I can't vouch for them, but I definitely got the vibe that I could've had a nice meal here. We went the bread/olive oil/olives route, and it was perfect. Our waitress was so sweet and funny, and had no problem communicating with us in English. We had a fantastic time drinking wine and snacking while inside the old wine cellar, it was the perfect setting for us to end our Halloween. It's so moody and cool. Whether you're an herbivore or a carnivore (this place is known for its burgers), or just want to sip on some wine in a really cool place, Vicente delivers. read more

Enjoyed a very late lunch/early dinner here after touring all day out to Sintra. We had been eating fish and shellfish all week, and today I just needed a burger! (Especially since feeling hangry - no food since 9 am). This place was cozy and cute, quiet at about 6 pm which we needed after hanging with crowds at Pena Palace, a super nice staff, meat-centric menu (my preference although not hubby's). Server gave us recommendations for wines - both those on menu and others for which only a few bottles were available. And the burger I had was one of the best I ever had. Not sure if it was because I was so hungry or needed beef, but juicy and delicious and flavorful. Found it on Yelp, so I thought I'd add my photos and review. Great food for low prices. Excellent service, the meat was very good. Not to mention the interior was very atmospheric and fun.

So I dont like to comment negatively on a restaurant that came so highly recommended, but in this instance, I feel like its an absolute necessity. Everything about this restaurant was wrong. They gave our reserved table away. We waited 45 minutes to get our wine, 30 minutes for water (after asking several times). Our salad came out with our food, after waiting over an hour. My food was cold. My fiancés order was completely wrong. When it was "corrected" the burger was so raw, that the bun was bloody. Another dinner mates steak was almost raw. The server, after being asked several times, only said sorry and walked away. Then when he returned offered a 10 euro discount off the meal. What an insult!!! I highly recommend that NO ONE go to this restaurant. If so, be ready for a huge dissatisfaction of service and meal. read more
