This is the only barber shop that I've been to that manages to clean up my cut hair well enough so that I don't feel itchy/scratchy. I think one of their secrets is to use of a hot towel to wipe down my neck, ears, etc. I can to to work and feel comfortable after my haircut. I've only been there twice, and my barber took his time to cut my hair. As for the style of cut, he does an acceptable job. I'm not terribly picky in this regard. read more

I have to echo the other reviews. The price for a regular men's haircut is a little bit higher than some places at $14, but they really take their time to do a good job. Great place in a small strip mall. Haircuts are quick--in and out in less than 15 minutes. Lots of parking around, even during peak hours.

I went here once and was not too impressed - but it's close to my office so I figured I'd give it a second try. They cut your hair with your back to the mirror so you don't really see what they're doing until the cut is finished, which is fine but I feel like I need to keep an eye on them. Both times I went they managed to miss sections of my hair and cut other sections unevenly. I'm a guy with short hair - it really should not be too difficult. I added a star because they ARE cheap and I did not have a problem walking in at 5:30 on a weeknight either time. I would personally rather spend a little more next time and go elsewhere so I don't have to fix my hair myself. read more

I tried this shop after reading all the glowing reviews. It is close to my new office in Reston and I thought I would give it a try. I left feeling very unsatisfied. In fact, I think it is safe to say I received the worst haircut of my life. The stylist, Vivian, told me she knew what I meant when I explained how I wanted my haircut. In fact, at one point, she said, "I know" when I tried to point out that she was not cutting it right. She tried her best (I think), but had no idea how to cut thick hair like mine. Each time I called her attention to a flaw, she tried to correct it over and over again, each time cutting more hair off -- hair that took me months to grow is gone. It does not lay properly and it is uneven. The blending looks terrible. Every time I look in the mirror I get angry. The owner pleaded with me to come back so she could try helping me feel satisfied. No way. Any shop owner that hires people like this is not someone I want to touch me. read more

Consistency is key. I have been going here for over a decade and always happy with my experience. Mai greets me when I show up with a smile. Even if there is a wait, it doesn't feel like you are watching ice melt. She takes my ideas and keeps my hair looking fresh and clean. They are great and patient with kids and still give away a lollipop at the end of the haircut. Appreciate that I have a small business with great service around the corner from my house. On top of all this, a haircut is still under $20. Highly recommended paying them a visit and seeing if they become your go to neighborhood barber. read more

I love this place! It is run by a husband and wife team (Hung and Mai), they are reasonable and know what they are doing! Hung does a great job so I always wait for him, but Mai and the other staff are also very good. I also love the hot towel and straight razor they use at the end! I highly recoment this place! Nice to use a "local" business. After many years of going to a particular stylist at a national brand shop, I got stiffed by my stylist so that she could do a favor for a new client. Rather than wait around for her to serve me, I chose to try Reston Barber. What a great change. It was nice to be served by someone with a stake in the business. Mai gave me a great cut and discussed her longer term plan to reshape my hair cut to undo the work of the other shop. I was especially pleased with her attention to detail and the hot towel/neck shave at the end. A big plus is that the haircut was a buck cheaper than the "national" chain discount shop. I have been coming to this barber for the past five years and always had a great experience. I usually call ahead for Hung and am seen right away when I arrive. He is always very thorough and also pleasant to chat with. I can't really comment on the other barbers since I've only ever seen Hung. The price is also very reasonable. I've been going to this barber shop for several years now and gotten good hair cuts from a nice Vietnamese lady. Yesterday I stopped in for my monthly haircut and all went well until she cut the back of my neck with a razor. She said nothing but the blood on my shirt must also been visible on the hot towel that she used. I've never been cut during a haircut in my life and I know accidents happen. Admit it, you always have second doubts on switching to a new barber. But this place is great, the employees are welcoming and patient. The price is very fair, and the quality of the haircut they give is consistent...my father and I love this place. Those who are here to complain about communication blah blah blah and that the workers barely understand english, that let alone says so much about your empathetic character. I've been going to Reston Barber for about 6 years. It's a mom-and-pop that clearly takes pride in being polite and accommodating. The haircuts are no frills, efficient, and consistently good. My wife approves every time. Children are welcome and provided toys to keep them occupied. The barbers also are very good with small children receiving haircuts, some for the first time. Adult haircuts cost $15. The barber shop is sometimes crowded, but the wait time is negligible because the shop is typically fully staffed by what appears to be members of the family/extended family. They use clippers for most of the cuts, with a very small amount of scissors. They shave the neck with straight razor and apply a warm towel afterwards. A great place for a haircut prior to military reserve duty, or monthly haircut. read more

Obviously, the term conservative men's haircut is beyond your capability. I left with more hair down shirt than on my head and there is absolutely no definition left in my hair. I would've done better going to a barber college and taking my chances with someone with no experience. If you value your looks, go elsewhere! read more
