When I had my spouse on video call to see the progress, he said their work was clean. We've worked with other companies for demo but these guys were wayyyy better at it. The sales rep even got on the phone and assisted in opening the insurance claim by getting on the phone with my insurance and not identifying himself as the Mighty Dry Sales rep, which I'm not sure if that's conflict of interest. In my case my insurance denied my claim, now I am left with a huge bill from Might Dry. My emails and my phone calls to their billing department continue to be ignored since 8/25/26.

But a few weeks later, they began coming at me with another $3300 in additional charges. And despite promises to stick to one contact person, there are now a total of at least seven or eight. Nothing is transparent or consistent. They are also extremely disrespectful in their written correspondence (addressing me by my last name and with no salutation, as if I were under their command in the army, e.g., "Hey, Smith!"). Apparently, this company's billing antics have become legendary in California (see Reddit, even just a glance). Other people have fared worse than I have--at least I managed to get them to complete the work, though now I have to waste time disputing bogus bills.

Our search for an honest company led us to West Coast, and we hoped the reviews were true. The good news is, West Coast is as honest as it gets. Askia came out and looked around the attic while I watched from the ladder. First, he showed me that the supposed mildew was some sort of harmless sandy clay-ish material. And the supposed black mold was just "lumber mold", an industry term for "stain fungi"--the common dark streaks in lumber that originate at the sawmill or in the forest, don't weaken the lumber, and are not indications of moisture. Who knew? Well, Askia knew. And he actually spent time convincing me that we didn't need their services. So do I recommend them to you? You betcha! An honest company is a joy to find.

This time around we worked with Pedro and Rosa on remediation needs due to a significant leak in our condo that the HOA never took care of properly more than 8 years ago (follow up with your HOA people! learn from my mistakes!). The guys moved our furniture, gutted out place, and made sure it was ready to pass a mold inspection by Hovey Environmental. Plastic was put down, furniture covered, etc. Then came "Team Dean" again, with Luis, Alberto, and Hermino handling the rebuilding of our floors, ceiling, paint, etc. And above all, estimates were provided and other insight for our insurance company and HOA battles. If you've never been down that road, this stuff matters. For those hesitant, I'm going to note that we didn't supervise the team. This was our second rodeo with them (first was with the handsome Dylan two years ago) and we had total trust letting them come and go as needed. You call a plumber for a leak...they recommend a water damage company, who then recommends a GC...and everything is inflated for insurance purposes. Sometimes the homeowner is part of the scam too. This is one of many reasons why insurance is skyrocketing. I had a HVAC condensation line leak in my house. I did not like the suggested plumbers from my home warranty company so I called a highly rated local guy. I will give him a separate review. But they recommended Express Dry and with a situation I never experienced before, I listened to the plumber and Express Dry and it was a stupid mistake. For this simple leak they wrecked my master bath tile, wrecked my hardwood floors, wrecked drywall and baseboard with staples (for the plastic sheeting) and per every GC I interviewed afterwards for repair estimates, all of it was unnecessary. See photos. The wood cuts they made were over the top and if they had done that part professionally, I could have repaired that part myself with remnant wood in the garage. All of the (most likely) unneeded drying machines used gave me a $600 electrical bill, even with solar, and I was forced into an unneeded asbestos report. All of it to over bill insurance. If I ever have a leak again I would handle it so differently. Not every leak needs this amount of response. Not recommended and find yourself a trusted repair person to ask questions about when stuff like this occurs
