First allow me to apologize for a delayed review of our experience with Restorations Solutions and Jack, our Project Manager. Our project/restoration wrapped up mid-summer 2024. We had the misfortune of a vehicle failing to stop upon entering our driveway. At the end of the day an uninsured motorist inflicted $55,000.00 of damage without consequence. Not wanting any part of pretending to be a General Contractor I accepted our Property Insurances offer of selecting one of their vetted contractors. A wise decision, especially in heavily regulated California. While I cant say the process was flawless or enjoyable our Project Manager Jack, made the process go as smooth as a dysfunctional City of San Diego permitting department allowed. While permitting was slow Jack communicated every delay religiously. Once a part of the permitting process was complete Jack had sub-contractor scheduled within days. So many facets from Hazmat evaluations and abatements, to a City of San Diego Historical background and revised building plans to bring our late 1960's track home up to present day earthquake standards, to Final Inspections, Jack handled the headaches all while communicating unavoidable delays. Coordination all the trades would have been a nightmare for a homeowner not familiar with the challenging processes. Jack was a lifesaver and restored our sanity as well as our property. It was as if every contractor, contents removal to finishing painters knew what a homeowner goes through. All very accommodating and left the jobsite as clean as possible at the end of the work day. There is not a single Trades person I wouldn't have back to work on my home. There were challenges (not many) during the project, just like one can see in any home renovation show that Jack handled effectively all while assuring us he'd handle it. These few issues were handled immediately in our presence. Most noteworthy to me was Communication! My experience with Restoration Solutions was such that I'd recommend them to anyone that has a fine appreciation communication and high-quality craftsmanship. Wonderful experience. Jim Thurber and his team were A plus in our book. We had a water leak in our rental home in the city of Oceanside that required new walls, bathroom, and more. They started as they said they would, the timing, and work completed was as stated. The quality of the work from all of his subcontractor's is top notch. There was a delay on flooring, but not there issue. it was the supplier. The whole project was scheduled for about 2 and a half weeks. With the delay is was still finished in about 3 weeks. WOW! Contractors that exceed expectations! Jim was absolutely amazing....honest, ethical, kind and fun to work with. 98% of the time, he would get back to me when I texted or called within minutes. The other times may have been hours. His communication was spot on. He didn't try to blow smoke up our butts by telling us the work would be done earlier than it was. I believe he gave worse case scenario and then exceeded expectations by being done about 2 weeks earlier than he originally told us. We unfortunately had a leak from our upstairs bathroom tub to the kitchen, I am so glad we were paired with Restoration Solutions. Our contractor Jack was incredibly organized and made sure everything was taken care of. The team he has accomplished everything that was done to our bathroom and kitchen from drywall, ,Asbestos, demo, pipes, tile, cabinets, countertops, painting, and making sure the unfortunate mold was gone. We have 2 dogs ( also 2 very curious cats) and work a lot, we did not feel comfortable living our pets and so my husband and I split being home when something was getting done, Jack was very patient with us and worked with us with our schedule to make sure one of us was home and we really appreciated it. He is also very honest and gets straight to the point which was extremely helpful since we have never gone through something like this. Darien took care of my kitchen cabinets which ended up needing to be completely changed since there was water damage. When we meet Darien he was very attentive and super nice. He absolutely went above and beyond with the design and installation of our new cabinets. Everything he did was detailed and with thought which we really appreciate. The guys that were in my home were very respectful and professional, unfortunately I do not have all the names but we appreciate the professionalism and work ethic everyone showed when working on the problems in our bathroom and kitchen. Unfortunately, I was not able to have Restoration Solutions do the work on my two bathrooms because of an error I made in signing a pre-work contract initially with another company. I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed that I won't regret not spending the additional $1000 that the first contractor was holding me to for the pre-work estimates and inspection that he did. However, between the time that I received Restoration Solutions recommendation from my AAA insurance company to the time yesterday when I made the decision to go with the first contractor, ELY was extremely professional, competent, thorough, patient, and very articulate in explaining the work that he would do with his team and later helping me through what my options would be to work with him or to go with the first contractor. Before I receive the original contractor $1000 invoice I had told ELY that I would go with him and I did give him a 10% down payment for the work. he told me very clearly that the money would be returned to me and he was very gracious and helpful as I was making my decisions. As you can probably tell by my review, bathroom, plumbing and vanities and drywall are not strong suit. They bribed me with $500 off originally to write a positive review, which apparently is meant to trick other customers into hiring them. The remodel performed by Restoration Solutions was incredibly half-baked and had very poor workmanship. They busted the faucet when reconnecting it to give us a surprise mold problem a few months later. They also LOST the legs to my dishwasher and used wood to prop up the dishwasher so it "looked" fine. Very poor, un-taped paint job leaving a splotches of paint on the door frames. Never connected an outlet inside one of the cabinets leaving exposed wires. The list goes on. Stay clear of this company! read more

We had water damage from a leaky roof after rain. The workers' drive time to get to our house was apparently factored into their work hours, so the they would arrive a half-hour or more late, eat lunch, and then leave for the day. The latest they would work was about 3 pm. They built a platform to work on, which they nailed, indiscriminately, directly into our solid wood railings, damaging the wood in several places. They uninstalled our wall light fixture, but then they drywalled over the electrical wires, leaving them in wall, and did not reinstall the fixture. They were going to charge thousands of dollars just to paint, so we ended up doing the painting ourselves. We had a bunch of extra baseboard, which we told them was in the garage, but they told us we didn't have enough. Our tenants told us the guys never even looked in the garage, where we had more than enough baseboard and moulding. Unfortunately, our tenants just wanted the guys out of the house, because they were messy and had taken so long, so we didn't know about all the problems until after we signed off on the work. I would never recommend this company to anyone. Overpriced, took too long/lazy, shoddy workmanship, inconsiderate. read more

In 2015, a carpenter was replacing an interior door casing in my condo and saw what appeared to be black mold behind the existing casing. I contacted four different mold remediation companies to come take a look and provide estimates. Three of the four gave me estimates that started at around $1,500. Jim came out and performed his estimate and was very upfront and honest with me about everything. We were initially just going to repaint and replace the damaged cabinets and have them all painted. After a lot of thought and consideration, my wife and I wanted to seize the moment and just remodel the entire kitchen, especially since the remaining, undamaged cabinets would still be 30 years old on the inside and not match the rest of the new cabinets. After dealing with 2 GCs that were slow in calling back and scheduling, I found myself searching for a new GC that had an attention to detail.
