The procedure went very smoothly and the doctors are very warm and kind. They were very good at explaining options and what to expect. They were even thorough in explaining options for contraception for after the procedure. The staff is very well trained and very knowledgeable. If you're looking for a Planned Parenthood alternative, this is a great one. It's located in the privacy and security of a clinic at the University of Chicago campus and there were no protesters or anything else out of the ordinary. It was all very professional and efficient.

As a consequence this office was my natural first choice when it came to seeing a doctor about my sexual health. My initial visit with Dr. Fermina Ventura was frightening, as I had never seen a gyno before and I didn't know what to expect. I got an STI panel (no shame in getting checked, people!) and a pap so I could start receiving birth control. She was surprisingly sweet and calm, talked me through everything, and answered every question I had. They referred me to see one of their counselors to talk about my treatment options when my pap smear came back highly abnormal. They explained everything as best they could, and sent me home with lots of helpful information. The next time I went to see the Dr., she remembered me! I was fascinated. That clinic has a LOT of patients and I was truly pleased that I was not just another girl, but a patient with real concerns and a name. I see Dr. Ventura once a year now for regular check ups, paps, and occasional cancer screenings. She's my go-to doctor and I would absolutely refer all of my female friends to go see her. If you're worried at all about your privacy here, don't be. They are SUPER DISCREET. They call you from a number that is not registered to the office. If they have something to mail to you, they mail it to you in an unmarked envelope. If they need to call you, they don't even say who they are until they are certain they're speaking to the right person. They 100% respect your privacy. The only con are the jerks who stand outside to protest, but what can you do? :)

Except she loudly starts telling me about how "back in her day," condoms were made out of who knows what and "pulling out was just called good timing." Great. Then, my name is called, but instead of going to the exam room, I somehow end up in a prenatal class. A nurse is enthusiastically handing me pamphlets about pregnancy nutrition while I awkwardly whisper, "Uh, I think there's been a mix-up." The instructor just smiles and says, "No judgment, honey. We all get scared at first." After FINALLY getting redirected, I meet the doctor--who, bless her soul, is the most cheerful person I've ever encountered. She starts explaining IUDs using a sock puppet. A SOCK PUPPET. I am sitting there, trying to process my life choices, while a googly-eyed piece of fabric named Miss Copper Coil tells me about long-term contraception. Just when I think the chaos is over, the fire alarm goes off. Half-dressed patients in paper gowns are running into the hallway, the old lady from the waiting room is leading an impromptu prayer circle, and someone shouts, "WHO MICROWAVED A TAMPON?!" Would I come back? Hell no.

As we entered the procedure room, I noticed that the garbage was over flowing. I mentioned it to the person that walked us in and she said she'll talk to someone. A short young Hispanic lady, she said her name was Mar, came in and told me that since the garbage was "non-hazardous" that they weren't going to change it. Appalled I said "ok, well I'll change it myself". She raised her voice at me as I was grabbing gloves saying " you have to leave, you have to leave" and I politely ignored her as I changed the garbage. She opens the door to the hall while my friend is partially undressed yelling for assistance. I calmly walk out as about 10 people surrounded me and explained what was going on. A young black girl apologized and took the garbage from me to put it away. The manager and I went to talk in the waiting room and she also apologized. I went back into the room and the procedure commenced. All in all, Mar was unprofessional and caused an unnecessary scene at a time where people need the most comfort. The facility needs better management and should never have trash from previous patients overflowing in a procedure room when a new patient walks in. I will never allow anyone I care about to go to this facility again

The services are totally free and they are such sweeties there - the women there give you the right tools to help you not feel totally overwhelmed. Abortion is still your choice and Woman's Choice helps you make an informed decision, not just go in blindly. No yucky movies or pictures, just empowering us to make the right choices for us. In fact, they provide misinformation meant to discourage you from properly considering options. They are not a medical clinic and do not full range of medical services for pregnant people. Do not contact. Also, the positive review here from "Gina V." is literally from the manager/CEO of the company. Don't come here! Go literally anywhere else. Any of their "free" services come at a cost of judgement and being misled. Very poor care quality.

TL;DR: Jenn is fantastic…read more I went back and forth about whether I might need a doula for my birth. I had decided I probably didn't need one, but then about three weeks before my due date I completely changed my mind and was really worried about whether I'd be able to find anyone on such short notice. I was really lucky to touch base with Jenn and engage her for my birth. She was quick to set up a time with me so we could talk about me, my birth goals, and in general what I could expect as I welcomed my first and long-awaited child into the world in July 2023. When I found that my baby had moved to a breech position, I let her know since that posed some potential changes and challenges and we discussed those options a little more in depth so I could wrap my head around them. She also helped me practice some various positions that some swear by to help the baby turn. Because of the breech presentation I had to schedule a c-section but was glad to have Jenn on my team as both someone who has seen more births than me and as someone who's experienced a c-section herself. She was out of town for a couple days prior to my birth but was still available to me if I needed anything from her. She offered to drive me to the hospital the day of my c-section, which is an offer I took her up on and my mom and significant other came to the hospital a bit later. In the lead-up to my c-section Jenn made sure to share my birth plan with the doctor and nurse. She made sure everyone wore masks per my request. And whilst I was actually having the c-section, she spoke with me, played some music when I asked, and kept me calm. I was not terribly scared of the procedure but more a bit unnerved about being conscious whilst I was being cut into, so those actions helped. And when my baby was born (a girl, which upon hearing made me exclaim "Yay, Im so glad!"), she took photos, brought the baby to me for cheek to cheek contact as soon as possible and skin to skin as well. She stayed with me through recovery, helped my daughter latch for her first feed, and remained with me until they brought me up to my room. Whilst my daughter and I were in the hospital, Jenn checked in with me by text several times to check on how we were doing and offer support. I'm 11 days postpartum now and we'll be setting up a postpartum visit soon. I'm really grateful to have had Jenn's knowledge and support, even if for such a short time given my procrastination. I hope I'll be pregnant again soon and will contact Jenn again for her services--just earlier this time!

From the moment we spoke, I felt a sense of ease and that she cared about supporting MY goals throughout the process; not pushing an agenda. Great pre birth lead up to get me prepared. And excellent at keeping me calm and advicating for what I wanted throughout L&D. She offered to give extra support session to my husband, who had some anxiety about my labor. I don't know how I would have navigated this process without her. And if I'm lucky enough to have a second child, will DEFINITELY work with her again.
