But .... he continued to have me come back for recheck after recheck for YEARS and each time made a new diagnosis, did a new procedure or test. He diagnosed macular degeneration and sold me his vitamins. He did umpteen fluorescent dye tests. He laser zapped what he said were minor detachments umpteen times. He had me on drops for unresolved inflammation of my retina for years. When I finally trusted my gut and saw a new retinologist he confirmed I don't have macular degeneration and there was no inflammation. And the drops weren't even meant to treat inflammation. It's been years and I've never needed a dye test or laser zap again so all that testing and treatment was undoubtedly just padding the medicare bill. And his office is a mill - appointments are meaningless and each visit is hours of wait time for a flash bang visit with him. Worse than all that, my husband made an appointment to see Gallemore and without notice was given some new guy. He literally wouldn't hear the history - "I just need to look at your eyes". And he sent him home failing to diagnose ocular stroke which could have killed him. The new Retinologist sent my husband from his office directly to the ER for a stroke workup. Bottom line is I think Gallemore is smart and competent but his penchant for making up problems and doing treatments and tests that are not without risk makes him a danger.

Waiting was kind of long, 40 mins, there were two patients ahead of me. Hey, shouldn't I get paid for this? I guess he's well-established here, cause I recognize his face from back in the days when i was working in S. Bay Hospital. No hello or any pleasantry when first seeing me, but instructing me to put my purse on the chair. He seems to be a genteel person, so maybe that's the way he operates. He checked my eye with bright beam of light, and informed me that there is no tear to my retina, but he needs to see me in three weeks. I had a few questions to ask him but he gestured me to leave. Long and truthful review incoming: The staff is not welcoming and warm like an eye doctor's office staff should be. If you have plans later that day, do not go to your appointment or you will miss your plans. They leave you in the waiting room for over an hour and say nothing to you until you get up and ask. Then you sit in a second waiting room where the same thing happens and the lady who sits at the desk next to the second waiting room is rude. I went in for a pterygium removal surgery. Joshi messed up my surgery causing scarring and an issue causing so much discomfort that I had to come back 3 days after my surgery for him to fix it. First off they did not even give me pain medication for recovery. They told me to go home and take tylenol and advil and no I am not embellishing. Anyways, He then had me sit in the chair to try and fix his mistake and used metal tweezers in my eye trying to grab and unfold the graft that he had messed up while I was under no medication. This caused me excruciating pain and it was like he did not care. He has ZERO bedside manner as a doctor and acts like you're a burden for having made an appointment, he is not thorough in his explanations and he rushes through everything. The surgery he did on my eye was so bad I had to go to a second doctor to fix the surgery and even that doctor said how poor a job Joshi did on my surgery. It cost $1700 for the surgery which I paid out of pocket. Then over the next two months I was sent a $505.50 bill for anesthesia, a $526.50 bill for cost of surgery, a $250.00 bill for being a new patient, and a $95.00 bill for...who even knows. If you care about your eyes, please do not let this doctor operate on you. Go see someone else and you will thank me later.

Also, that I had a previous diagnosis of MG, but he prescribed eye drops that didn't cure the problem over 2 years, telling me that if the problem persisted, there was nothing he could do (wouldn't treatment of MG be applicable?). Finally, there were certain neurological symptoms that were ignored (when looking at my phone or the speedometer, for a few weeks, the depth was warped into impossible shapes, making life rather difficult; it was after this I was diagnosed with BVD). While the visual effects had gone away around in the days after being put on prism lenses, and were gone for months before seeing Solomon, I didn't like his response. It was a terrifying group of experiences, which Dr Solomon seemed to have no sympathy for. Anyways, in particular, as a kid I could watch 3D movies, which should be proof I didn't have BVD or lazy eye as a kid, but Dr Solomon claimed that congenital lazy eye can appear in adulthood, due to missed diagnosis. When I pointed out that watching 3D movies indicated stereovision, Dr Solomon suggested that the BVD can emerge in adulthood, which is an unlikely, but in isolation plausible, explanation for BVD. But he rolled with it as though it fit any of the rest of what I wrote above. It came across as a lazy diagnosis that minimized treatment and left me quite terrified of if acute symptoms, like inability to eat/drink due to throat paralysis from MG, or vision warping (which included symptoms during driving), came back. Like a year after starting treatment, I began to have a lot more double vision problems on the road, and Dr Solomon didn't change my treatment plan at all, or even appear concerned. Through it all, even when he admitted he "saw the minor strabismus," he never once apologized when he was wrong, or provided the teenage me clarity in what records he had or what was being said. Either way, I do not recommend this doctor because he didn't seem to care about clarifying medical records, exploring all treatment options (such as low dose corticosteroid for MG), or being clear about whether or not he considered my words as worth taking seriously. If other people have great stories, then mayhaps he isn't a bad doctor. However, my personal experience left me deeply dissatisfied that these problems which deeply impacted my life were never diagnosed after years of being under his care. In any case, this medical provider might provide good standard care to other patients (I have neglected discussing positive aspects like friendly admin, or partial healing of eyes and facial fatigue over several years likely in part due to consistent prescribed eye drop usage), but if there is any ambiguity in medical history (assuming they read it), I did not find them flexible enough to deal with anything that wasn't black and white. Anyways, I will be honest about adherence. Something questionable I did was refrigerate and reuse cyclosporine eye drops, the one prescription I got besides OTC eye drops and eye ointment, because several doctors recommend this practice. Anyways, that stubbornness saved me over a thousand dollars. I also would sometimes forget to take the eye ointment at night, which I was honest about. I had to do stuff like Google upper bounds for eye drops, because I was using them up to over 50 times a day due to constant agony, and Doctor Solomon claimed there was no upper bound for efficacy, which was universally considered untrue online due to it removing eye oils; I lowered usage to 10-30 times a day on my own. While my review is quite negative, I hope that the long explanation justifies the concern, as the previous sentence indicates that I ultimately had to do my own research and second-guess the advice when he is supposed to be the doctor.

I ended up being referred to Dr. Solomon because he is a neuro- optomologist. The staff in the office was fantastic and Dr. Solomon spent intentional and thoughtful time with me talking through the history of my symptoms and recent medical events. Sometimes medical things can be frustrating and confusing. This experience really gave me hope. Thank you.
