I mistakenly thought the store was open because the door was wide open, completely missing the closed sign posted on the door. I walked in and my family who was with me followed me in. I was inside looking at the wallets when I heard someone asking why we were inside. An elderly woman, short, with glasses, and a hose running with water continued to rudely usher us out of the store. She complained about us not seeing the sign and continued to attack us for being in the store despite it being closed. We apologized and let her know it was an honest mistake. We were outside the shop at this point. She continued to express herself in an angry and rude tone then insinuated we seemed suspicious because we were near the register. I assume she meant we looked like we might be stealing. In that moment I interrupted her and told her we were sorry, it was an honest mistake, and we were not stealing. I was upset at this point and let her know sternly that we did not appreciate the way she was speaking to us and we would appreciate kindness, especially from an employee/store owner. I told her I would write a review about my experience and here it is. Next time I suggest you calm down, assess the situation and approach potential customers with kindness and ease if you want us to come back. If not, then by all means continue being mean and project your negativity on other people, that will for sure keep people away from the business.

The antique stores in the area are great, but I feel like Mondern Antiquarium has the widest range of categories. Not only do they offer the usual spread - dining, clothes, old tech, ornaments, stationary, random smaller knick knacks, etc. but they also have larger curiosities like coin lockers, road signs, a large letter "P", etc. My favorite is that they also have a space for partnering with artists, e.g. a section for old books that have been repurposed into journals where I picked up a cute journal. I also stopped by a second time when the shop was closed hoping to see the birds had gone home with someone and are there only during the day but possibly let out at other times. Made an appointment to bring in clothes for consignment. Appointment was cancelled at the last…read moremoment. After two or three weeks, I emailed Roe to see if she would contact me for a make-up appointment. After about a week, she replied that she would try to "squeeze me in." This was very off-putting. Also, their pay-out policy is strange. I have been consigning clothes for a long time, and I have never dealt with a business like this where we have to beg them to take our things. Very disappointing. It would have been nice not to have to go into SF where there is a wonderful consignment shop. Guess I'm going to SF from now on.
