I personally think that shopping online for big corporations is overrated and I wanted to find more local businesses this year for Christmas and my coworker recommended this place. I found some mini soap bars for my friends as stocking stuffers and some interesting jam flavors for when I do my charcuterie. I spent about $38 which for local stuff is a pretty good deal! And the 2 ladies at the registers were absolute ANGELS and we were chit chatting about hairstyles and they were really sweet recommending places in the area to visit. DEFINITELY COMING BACK! When visiting family in Santa Rosa last week we were treated to gift boxes of local gourmet goodies and self care items from Made Local Marketplace. Fabulous selection of goods from Sonoma County that we'll be happily enjoying. Even better, we had one free afternoon and our niece took us to visit the "Mother House" - the source of all the wonderful potions, lotions, and tasty treats. So much fun to wander thorough the two rooms filled with displays full of a myriad of creativity. The shop features art pieces in various media, wearable art, wall art, foodie creations, garden art, and much more. It's a treat for the eyes, with varied pieces extending upward toward the high ceilings, and also at eye level. Some of the artisans bring vivid color and whimsy to life. Others offer scents in soaps, candles, oils, and lotions. I treated myself to a kitchen towel with the Santa Rosa Round Barn logo - sadly lost to a major wildfire several years ago. It's still a beloved symbol of the history of the city. Planning to stitch it into a throw pillow cover. There's lots of inspiration in this marketplace, that's for sure. Looking forward to sampling the contents of the boxes our family curated for us, knowing the charming shop from where they came as an added bonus. read more

This is one of my favorite gift shops! They have a wide variety of merchandise -- jewelry, food, ceramics, wall art, soaps, lotions, and much more. Plus they have classes! I took a fun and relaxing watercolor class. This store is my go-to at Christmas time for unique gifts that are not made in China. And I have brought out-of-town visitors here to buy local products to take back home with them. Easy, one stop shopping. read more

I have visited Made Local Marketplace several times. Generally, I have had a positive experience. This time however, I was not greeted; no one said hello; offered to help; or even glanced my way. When I left I felt that I was not at all welcome. I believe in supporting local businesses, but I also realize that there is almost no training in retail help these days. I will say that ignoring potential customers is not helpful to either the shop; the customer, or those people trying to sell their goods. I would hope that they can do better. read more

A lot of cute things in this local store that would make great gifts! A bit over priced and there was honestly so much going on in the store it was kind of overwhelming. I appreciated knowing that most things were made local and that these were business men and women also trying to make a living. Something that stood out to me was that the woman at the counter was microwaving her lunch, I'm assuming, which smelt like an enchilada TV dinner and wafted through the entire store. Likely would have purchased things had I not had to leave at the overwhelming smell. Definitely not a deal breaker - we all need to eat!! But it was a little difficult to smell the candles and skin products I was interested in possibly getting. read more

Super cute little shop in downtown Santa Rosa. All kinds of locally crafted items and artwork. The girl behind the counter was very nice and friendly. I picked up a few different things on my visit the other day. I got a holder for scissors (scissors included) made from a potholder! Too cute and very creative. I got a hand sewn wallet/card holder made of bright colored fabric. It has a snap closure, too. I got some little magnets "Sonoma Strong". My heart goes out to all the residents around SR and nearby communities after those devastating fires. So much community spirit here in SR! I also got a great assortment of Mrs Grossman's stickers. (Made nearby in Petaluma. Very cool). So much talent throughout this store...stop in and take some time to look in every little corner! read more

The Criminal baking company has a small booth when you walk in the door. They have seriously yummy cookies. So come on in, get your inner hippie on. This lovely boutique cooperative has been my go to for any type of special gift, whether large or small. I like that the items are hand made locally. I recently purchased some aromatherapy air freshener and art, both very nice quality. I expect to pay a bit more for an item that's unique and not mass manufactured. A few months back I picked up a beautiful small glass bowl that I gifted to my sister who used it for her rings and earrings. This is a nice addition to the neighborhood! read more

What a wonderful store! Items from over 70 local artists and the staff is all volunteer. This is a co-op where you can find a huge variety of locally made handmade craft items and all proceeds go back to the artists themselves. There are many different price points and a good variety to choose from. It's like a year-round craft fair open 7 days a week. Within walking distance of many nice restaurants, this is a great place to walk off lunch and browse for that something special. read more

This place has been posting my private number to a local newspaper to advertise their events. It is very unprofessional, and now I have a bunch of perverts calling me in the middle of dinner. I called them three times, the first time some lady hung up on me, she didn't care that my life was being upset. The second time she just let it go to voice mail, the third time no answer. I sent an email to the newspaper and to the coop, and have gotten no response. It is really rude. These people need to be shut down. read more

I love the idea of promoting local artists, businesses, restaurants, organizations, etc. The ShareExchange has a variety of local crafts, as well as information on local events and movements. Also, they have seeds for local community gardens and school gardens. The volunteers there are always welcoming and informative. It's fun sometime to just go and look around at all the local talent. However, I always end up buying something!! Some of the items, in my opinion, are way too expensive...but not everything! Just last week, I bought a bicyclist-gal decal for $5 and an awesome locally made card for $3. I love their jewelry and the local soaps! I also got some locally made bar shampoo that is gentle and doesn't strip your hair of natural oils! It is rosemary and smells oh-so-good! ($4) read more

Often, the items are overpriced and deserving to be featured on regretsy. I loved this place as it's well-curated. The items are practical, attractive, or simply well-made. The selection is eclectic and includes jewelry, clothes, pinup girl handkerchiefs, greeting cards, clocks, pottery, skin care products, and fresh produce. My friend even purchased a reusable sanitary napkin here. No, I did not know that such a product existed. My haul: Greeting card: $4 Earrings: $18 Necklace (on sale): $7 Watermelon: $3 No regrets. We wandered in by accident while finding a path from the 5th street parking lot to the square. What a delightful surprise! The store is dedicated to items made in Sonoma County - and it's a wide variety. Popped in here just yesterday to grab a few gifts for my clients. Great selection of local products from tea and coffee, to honey, soaps and ceramics. Super friendly service and an offer to wrap my items as they had assumed correctly I was putting together gift bags. I fell the value is good. For $30 per person I walked with coffee, tea, soap and chocolates for each. I highly recommend this place for those looking for some great local products. This place is awesome. First of all it's all locally made products and they are helping many local business people get into business or expand their business. On top of that, the merchandise is just really cool. It's an especially great place for special gifts and cards. A lot o the businesses have really cool back stories, like Evan's Fun Games which is a local board game maker who has Asperger Syndrome, or Plum Blossom Farm which sells a variety of cool products made from sheep wool and their sheep are all humanely raised and retire on the farm when they are no longer productive (many of the sheep are rescues). Checked out this store walking down the street after lunch, and glad that I spent the time to go through all of their varied items. It's cool that it's all local and most of it seems handmade. They had a lot of unique items that I had to buy just to try it, and maybe I'll come back when I'm in town again to pick up some more. The only thing I was disappointed by were the prices of some items. I really wanted to get this ring, but it was too steep for my budget. We picked up some items from the bakery section and the brown butter brownie and oatmeal thing were both really good, and the people were nice! read more

This business has a good vibe the people there are optimistic. The prices and quality vary greatly as you might expect, but nothing was overpriced to the point of being insulting. Many items are very reasonably priced and hand woven scarves, jewelry, food items, fine art, and hand tooled leather of good quality are to be had. Near municipal parking, other shopping and dinning, the Made Local Marketplace is a good idea. Santa Rosa needed a place like this. read more
