I bought two games and took them home staff was super nice. i tried to play both games than found out one was not backwards compatible and the second didn't pop up at all, all though it is backwards compatible and was completely scratched. i decided to take them back and said the issues with them i was told she didn't have much knowledge on the xbox games which is totally fine but i expected there to be someone there that knew something in order to help. while waiting around to get my discs buffed i heard them telling another customer that they do not test the games in the shop and i believe they have a 30 day return policy. we came home and my backwards compatible game still does not work a single bit and i had to do plenty of research to find out what was wrong with my other game then came to find out the disc even has a crack in it. i had previously lived in oregon and each game shop out there always tested and cleaned up their games before selling them. i don't blame the kind staff whatsoever i think the owners/management should definitely require the games to be inspected before trading or buying and cleaned up before selling. the store would have more time to focus on making items ready to sell in good condition if they didn't have so many people coming in for defective items sold to them. as i am writing this we are trying to get another xbox game from this shop to work and it has now completely shut off my console and it wouldn't turn back on for awhile this has never happened with any of my other discs. read more

I've lived in Las Vegas for four years and my go-to video game store has always been Retro City Games. I stopped in last week for one last stop before moving and was once again blown away by the amount of inventory this store has. When you walk in you are greeted by the front desk to the right and a giant wall of PlayStation 4+5 games. This location is pretty massive and features games wrapped around the store, in the middle, and they make great use of all of the space. The back wall here and right side wall feature higher value games and stuff for consoles like the Sega Saturn and Dreamcast, N64, and higher value handhelds and consoles. I've boughten a ton of stuff here in the past few years from a Wonderswan to CIB GameCube games. You know the best part about this store? EVERYTHING HAS A PRICE ON IT! That's right, they don't just look at eBay when you ask to see it, they price everything so you don't have to awkwardly ask. Overall, this is the best game store in the city and the store I take everyone who visits. I will absolutely be popping in on future visits to Las Vegas and I hope to see this company keep thriving in the future. read more

Retro City Games has moved over to Stephanie/American Pacific. I love their new location! It is much more spacious, clean, and well lit now. The place was very organized and easy to look for games as they were A-Z. The employees helped me look for a game as well as called their other location to check for it. I got 2 games and a Wii console, which the employee clearly took his time to choose the best looking one for us, and they cleaned the games too. Awesome customer service and thoughtfulness. The prices are very fair, although they didn't have what I was looking for initially, there were a ton of other options. read more

Despite being Middle Aged and having kids that are almost 20, I proudly admit that I'm still a gamer. Although I spend most of my gaming time screwing around in various Game Pass games on my XBSX, I also have a strong love for previous generations hardware a a software. Although My first gaming console was the N64 that I bought myself when I went away to college (my parents thought the NES, Sega Genesis, and SNES would rot my brain), I wanted to overcompensate when I finally had the means and wanted to build a console setup that would rival AVGN or even Metal Jesus Rocks. Retro City Games not only assisted me in acquiring every random and obsolete piece of hardware I wanted, they took a lot of random electronic equipment I had in trade and gave me very reasonable store credit. They helped me source Atari Jaguar, a complete Dreamcast setup with keyboard, A horrendous Sega Saturn, and even an Xbox One X. Doug, the proprietor is an extremely friendly, down to earth business owner and his right hand man Antonio lead a rockstar team. With A Gamer's Paradise shutting down for good at the end of September 2022, it has become even more Crystal Clear that Retro City Games is the ONLY retro video game stir worth visiting in Southern Nevada. read more

this is such a great little hole in the wall, hidden gem. I was blown away at the collection they have and how intelligent they are in video games and old school electronics. They surprisingly had everything I was looking for and they had such a large selection of items from games, to consoles, to remotes, to collectibles!!! The service here was great. It was Ok I guess, they had a lot of wii games ( Mainly filler titles, I saw 0 Mario games and 0 Zelda or any nintendo IP games) lots of ps1, and there was literally only 5 GameCube Games available in the whole store, they had some cool stuff i've never seen before including some store displays for sale but some games were weirdly priced, for example they had Mario Tennis on GameBoy Color for $29.99 it goes for $25 in the market so its like ok $5 above its fine not too bad i understand they need to make money, but they had a "not for resale" version and those go for around $50-$60 on Ebay and Marcari and here for whatever reason it was $99? read more

We were curious to check this place out and see what it was about since it is a new business in our shopping plaza that we visit a lot, we were very just very curious. When we walked in it was a bit of a weird vibe, we said hello to the staff as we walked through the door but the staff just errily starred at us so we took it as their "hello." Lol They do have a wide variety of old and new games with a mixture of movies and plushies. It was really cool to see all these nostalgic systems we use to grow up with being a 90's baby so that was a nice treat to see. Although a lot of the items were pretty pricey, they were still in the middle of trying to fulfill the store with the rest of their goods. It be nice to come back in a month or so when they've been established together, but with the unwelcoming vibe and such we will just take a long pause to even drop in when we are always in that shopping plaza. read more

Made a super quick stop here to get a power cord for my PS3. I had packed in a box but either can't find that box or threw it away. I called ahead to make sure they had it in stock and drove right over. The guy that helped me out was super nice and made me laugh. It had been a long day and I was trying to go home and play some Call of Duty. They cord was only $5 and I saw it for $10 at other places. Was touring some video game stores while in Las Vegas this weekend. This place was my least favorite. The store looked like it had just been hit by a hurricane. Clutter lying around the floor throughout the store, the counter clumsily littered with games both in and out of their cases, all the while two clerks sitting behind this dirty counter having an intense conversation about croutons and cheese. Game selection itself was fair, the prices were decent for the most part, though some items, like consoles (original Xbox in particular) were on the pricey side. While shopping I kept hearing these clumsily stacked pile of disks falling over behind the counter -- and the clerks seemed to find that amusing. After picking out some games, I head over to the counter to pay and wait a good 10 minutes while both clerks are struggling to find one of the games I picked out. And they weren't struggling because it wasn't filed correctly or anything -- it was due to the fact that basically nothing was filed at all and they were going through piles of disks to find it -- and to make things worse one of the clerks is flipping through the disks as if they were playing cards or something. Absolutely no care for the product! Here's a bit for collectors (as I am one): After they finally find the disks, I paid and was out of there. Come to find out when I got back to my hotel room, I noticed that though I purchased a black label PS2 game, they had given me a Greatest Hits version disk. No attention to detail. Unfortunately, I could not return it as by the time I returned to my hotel room they were closed and I was leaving back home first thing the next morning. I'm now back home and one of the games does NOT work. Very disappointed. I do not live in Nevada and am not going to travel back to simply return said game. Although, it does make me wonder if this game that doesn't work was found in one of those many piles of disks that fell over while I was shopping there. Would not visit this one again. read more

Went in to the Mountain Vista location the other day. I see a young male and female clerk chatting behind the counter. Clerk: "Let us know if we can help you find anything." Me: "Yes, actually--do you guys have and 3DO stuff?" Both clerks look at one another: "Uh...no..I'm afraid not." I walk to the back to see an entire CASE dedicated to 3DO games. Today I called Retro City Games and their customer service was great and quick. I asked for an 'Xbox Original' and they had the answer on the spot, "yes, and it's $60". So I came over and I walked in for the first time and was greeted by each of the staff members. I looked around real quick and the store looked dope with their cool collection of posters , games, consoles, and displays. When I bought my console I had the choice of either a printed receipt or a texted one, which I like, and had it texted to me. Before I left, they offered a bag or help carrying everything to my car, which was really nice. I recommend this place highly before searching on eBay for games. I found better prices here for some old games I want so I will return to browse and buy more games. read more

After driving thru heavy traffic, detours, dodging obstacles, accidents, and driving thru construction, I finally made it here like driving in Las Vegas in Grand theft auto San Andreas. I walked in and I put my hands up and said to myself I finally made it here and this is my kind of place. I'm also a game collector. The guy behind the counter was cleaning something and gave me a weird look and I expected that so no big deal. I'm an 1980s kid and he's is a millennial totally two different generations. I had won $3,000 at Caesars Palace and I was going to spend at least a $1,000 on Ps1 games, some nes games I saw that I didn't have, a few consoles, some extra accessories and controllers, and whatever else I could find. So, I started gathering some games I wanted and started asking that millennial if they had the consoles I needed. He was not helpful at all. Just gave me answers like, "no, don't have it" and could of cared less. Very direct and rude. So I asked for something else and again just very direct and started to get annoyed. So I put back all the games I was going to buy and walked out. He did acknowledge me while I was walking out but it was TOO LATE the damage has been done. I love places like these and they are starting to phase out. I hate GameStop, now this place is on my sh@tlist too. This place is a bogus lame shame. read more
