I enjoy going to Estate Sales that are organized and presented by Retro Etcetera. I went to another one on July 21, 2019, in Palm Desert. They announce early in the week that they are going to facilitate an Estate Sale. Later in the week, they post pictures of many of the items, that will be sold at the Estate Sale along with the times and address of the Estate Sale. I like how they set up and run the Estate Sale. Specialty items are creatively displayed and prices are prominently displayed on items that are for sale. The staff of Retro Etcetera has always been helpful, courteous, and informative. They are around when you need them, but also give you space to browse and select items that speak to you, be it your pocketbook, your heart or your needs. I like that they provide you with a place to store your selected items while you continue to peruse the sale. I am glad that Retro Etcetera exists because I know when I am there that they have done their due diligence and I feel secure that I am getting a good deal and am paying the appropriate price for my selections. I look forward to going to the Retro Etcetera Estate Sales because I never know what little gem, novelty, or must-have, I might find. If you like hunting for the unusual, the different or just like browsing estate sales and you haven't yet been to one of Retro Etcetera's Estate Sales, you are missing a treat. Selling a home and removing all its contents can be a daunting task, especially when it was your mother's home for 30 years. What things should go to family or charity, what things could be sold or taken to the dump? The task is even harder when it is sudden, you live a hundred miles away and are very busy. We needed help. They never lost sight of the fact that these household possessions were not just things to sell, but were precious to us, sacred relics of a life that was important. They gave us time to keep the things we wanted and were always mindful and respectful with all aspects of the estate sell, even keeping pictures of our mother in the house to maintain a presence. We liked that they took time to donate items that did not sell to charity and left the house clean and completely empty. We never had to lift a finger. We were impressed with their marketing strategy and advertising. They published over 350 photos, all in great light and with perfect organization. We are grateful that the "chore" was completed expeditiously and professionally but are most impressed with the positive attitudes and thoughtful actions that honored our mother's memory. read more

I cannot praise and recommend Eric and Ted highly enough! From the first meeting to the closing exchange, every interaction was clear, kind and productive. I found them to be completely trustworthy, professional and reliable. Every step of the process was explained to me, and was executed precisely as explained. It was overwhelming for me to be surrounded with a lifetime of my parent's "treasures" not knowing where to start. With their skillful networking, they were able to sell many unique items in my parent's belonging to buyers with interest. The manner in which the house was staged for the sale was amazing ! It was very healing for me to see everything laid out so nicely. When the sale was completed, the home was completely empty and spotless - all remains from the sale parted out as donations, and all garbage hauled away! Eric is incredibly generous with his time and his knowledge, and went above and beyond to help and support in finding new homes for everything. Did some window shopping and found the most gorgeous vintage top. I tried the top on (they had this super-cute dressing room) and it fit me like a glove. It was a few days until payday, but I did love it. The man working was the owner (Erick) and he was so sweet. I told him I loved it but that I had to wait until payday to get it and hoped that no one came and got it before. He told me that for a small deposit he would be happy to hold it for me and I could even pay for it on a lay-a-way plan. I gave him $20 and came back at the end of the week and paid it off. I didn't want to wait another day to wear this top out! Erick had it wrapped nicely and all ready for me. What service!! I wore the top out the next night and got so many compliments!! This is a great shop. One of the best parts is the stuff although they were vintage were so clean and smelled so good. Erick told me that they clean the items after they buy them. For many years, I have been totally impressed at the professional, knowledgeable and friendly demeanor of both Eric and Ted (and their staff who keep an eye on things, as they should). I've been to numerous of their estate sales and would not hesitate to hire them and/or recommend them to anyone requiring their services. I did scroll down here and to my dismay I see one negative review from someone, who the staff says may have been the person who changed price tags. I happened to witness someone at one of their sales doing this. I can't say if this was the same woman, but know this: People who set up estate sales know their inventory, they have a fiduciary obligation to their client(s) to not get scammed by someone who thinks they can get away with switching price tags. That said, if you go to any sale, and you don't like a price, just approach the folks at the desk and POLITELY ask if the price is flexible. That's what honest shoppers do. read more

As someone who has had the pleasure of Eric and Ted running my estate sale and also as a consumer, going to many of their estate sales, I have had nothing but great experiences with the boys! The research, the staging, and the time they put into every sale is unreal! When they take on a sale, they are working for the benefit of their client, without ever overcharging the estate sale attendees. They walk a high tightrope yet all parties are pleased with their professionalism. When you go home with a bargain, you can rest assured that Eric and Ted know what their inventory is and still want their attendees to find that hidden gem that keeps them coming back for more. I can't speak for anyone else, (except for my 5 girlfriends that now start calling and texting me before 7:00AM on a Saturday!) but I can't wait for the weekend to see what treasures I'm going to be taking home next weekend! read more

We've been to a few estate sales here in AZ since having one put on by Ted & Eric in California. The last professional one looked like a messy hoarder's home & they were very high priced. None here can compare to Ted & Eric's compassion & insight for the people who need to part with their treasures. They display all items in a way that pleases the eye & they are not pushy. They are honest about "hoping for the best but expecting the worst" (during the covid circumstances) regarding buyers. They know values & they make sure everything is clean as well as leaving the home spotless at the end. Their generosity, honesty & knowledge exceeded any expectations that we had. I wish I could show you pics of my FABULOUS finds at this hidden gem! My first visit was purely by luck..just happened on it while visiting Palm Springs. I was greeted by Eric as if we were lifelong friends. I found a vintage Blackwell beaded evening gown, just stunning! I told him I was afraid to ask the price..he said " you really love it dont you? I thought..now the price just went up! He gave me the dress at a huge discount..with one promise, that I wear it with love and admiration. SOLD! I returned on another visit and purchased the grooviest olive green 1960s record/stereo wood console. After reading the positive YELP reviews, we hired them to do my Aunt's estate sale. They came in and handled it all. From pricing to staging to advertising. Many of our neighbors and friends attended the sale and said they hardly recognized the home. It was set up so beautifully. They said the staff was plentiful and attentive and making deals and selling the stuff. The turnout was amazing! The amount we got far exceeded my expectations. I only had the pleasure to visit this neat shop at once. I was greeted by a very friendly couple who own the shop, and they showed me around with a smile on their face, felt very welcoming. They have a lot of unique items, I wish I was able to purchase more at the time. Unfortunately, I only bought jewelry for my fiancee that day, but she absolutely loved it. I will be paying them a visit again very soon! I highly recommend for anyone visiting the Palm Springs area. read more
