I have never experienced a work out like the one I have everyday at 9round. They are consistently pushing you and changing up the workouts so you never get bored. Every trainer takes the time to know you and teach you every move. There are NO SET CLASS TIMES! A round starts every 3 minutes which really helps if I am running late from work. Each round has something different and it changes every day. 1 round is dedicated to freestyle which is my personal favorite. You work one on one with a trainer and work on different kickboxing moves. The trainers. If there is one reason I come back its the trainers. They are by far the best people I have met in the workout community. They realize you are there to better yourself but to also have fun! Beth and her Husband Joey own the gym and are an amazing duo. Every time you walk in your energy level immediately goes up! They always greet you with a smile on their faces. Neil and Jess are also super incredible! Neil will make sure you are putting in 110% every round every time and if your aren't sweating you will be after a freestyle round with Jess! The whole team is beyond incredible. The facility is well equipped - EliteFTS equipment, specialty bars, prowlers, ghds, bump/metal plates, InBody etc. etc. and clean. Since they are a newer gym the facilities are not crowded so you really have the opportunity to form a relationship with everyone you train with. Their slogan is "Always clean. Never crowded." and I have never heard of a slogan for a business to hold more true. The place is immaculate! The floors and all of the equipment are spotless! You could eat off the floors in this place. They have everything you need and it doesn't feel like your typical small gym where people are pushing you or have you on a regime. You can workout at your own pace or take part in a class, whatever fits your needs. There has never been more than two other people in there working out at the same time as me so you just feel like you can let loose and breath freely. This Retro is run by owners Alan and Stella and they are to be commended for their commitment to running a gym that operates very professionally while maintaining a hometown feel to it. I really appreciate the fact that the owners are onsite making sure the gym runs smoothly. They are very friendly and available to their clients. Their gym is very clean and the locker room smells good. The ladies locker room often has fresh flowers. They have a great selection of equipment. I especially appreciate that they have two excellent rowers and four excercise bikes with arms that provide more of a full body workout. The other gym I went to only had one mediocre rower and two of those bikes which meant oftentimes you had to wait to use them. And that was at a much larger gym. They have an outstanding training team that really care and go above and beyond led by Tom Wiley. Without his encouragement I wouldn't be much healthier today and 40 pounds lighter. They also provide nutritional assistance which I have found immensely helpful in helping me attain my weight goals. Trainer Elyse Kakos has been especially helpful in guiding me thru weight training and providing meal plans and recipes. Her passion to help clients holistically goes above and beyond any experience I have had or heard about being provided at any other gym. I would continue at this gym just for the excellent training provided to me that is invaluable. It's not expensive! Compared to many other gyms I think you get the most for your money at Retro Middletown. I also like that there is a wide age range of people there and people at all different levels of fitness. It's a very welcoming atmosphere I don't feel intimidated and people are polite. Lastly, I like their location with Walgreens right next door and Shop Rite in the same plaza. It's very convenient to work out and then go and get my groceries. For these reasons I think Retro of Middletown stands out and is an excellent choice!
