I returned to this Reunion twice last week. The first was downstairs for a happy hour sponsored by the Chemical Engineering Department, of which I am an Alumni. It was a nice spread, with nice selection of draft beer, and very attentive staff. It was great to catch up with students, alumni, and professors. I even ran into someone that also went to graduate school at Texas A&M and worked at Los Alamos. The second was a Friday evening after working the Chem-E-Car Competition at the School of Engineering. All I wanted were some light bites (2 Steet Tacos) and a my favorite Reunion Beer (Imperial Banshee). That's an Imperial Stout at 10% and in a smaller glass. All good and a nice place to watch folks from the bar. read more

Reunion is a good fancy restaurant during the day and afternoon they have great food and a good section with their special drinks!! But when it starts to get dark Thursday- Saturday they have a dope dance floor and bartenders I see that everyone is having a good time dancing and meeting new people. When something happens the Security guards are quick on their feet which is really good. My favorite dj plays at reunion and he makes everyone dance to theirs favorite songs. Reunion has amazing art around the main, lower floor, and top floor!! I recommend going to reunion if you're tryna get lit and have a good night!! read more

For a "BREWERY" the beer is maybeeeee some of the worst I've ever tasted. To preface, I absolutely love craft beer. I've worked in nano-micro-macro-whatever-breweries for years. I completed a graduate program in chemistry with beer on my forebrain, and in my humble opinion, Reunion brews up the most rotten, skunky and harsh beer you'll find in the city. I'm not surprised it's bad since the establishment is obviously focused on attracting underage students to their pseudo-night club aesthetic they're going for (unfortunately). If you find yourself in here after 8pm - best of luck. For some positive feedback, their food is actually really good (highly recommend the poutine). It has a fairly unique menu if you're tired of eating at the same places in the city. I do like the vibe of the brewery during daytime hours and their happy hour is good. So bonus points for that. I get this is a college town, but breweries in my experience tend to be a more of a 3rd place to foster an engaging community - do not expect that kind of atmosphere here. Be ready to encounter belligerent, underage students and ego-driven bouncers who think they're special forces or something asking for absurd covers. I truly believe this place could be an awesome brewery if they focused on actually brewing beer, which is insane that needs to be said. read more

Stopped in shortly after opening on a random Tuesday. It's been almost 30 years since stepping foot in the building and nothing looked familiar, which is a good thing! I started with the Nitro Irish Stout and my husband ordered the Czech Lager, both were delicious! We decided to get some lunch and let me tell you, DO NOT sleep on the LA Dog or the poutine. I'd go back for those alone, even though the menu looked to have many other amazing options. Seriously, go get the LA Dog. You and your taste buds will thank me. The service was exceptional, even when we weren't the only two in there. I didn't get the backstory of the decor, but I'll ask about it next time I stop in. Wouldn't come back here honestly. Our host was a guy with long hair and glasses and he was the highlight of the visit because he helped us get situated outside with chairs and extra table space. He was patient and helped a lot. Food wasn't good enough to come back, beer refill took a while and they add a credit card surcharge on your bill AFTER you sign and add a tip. I only found that out after a notification on my phone from my credit card company. That in itself is disqualifying for me. read more

Very friendly. My friend and I didn't know they didn't open until 3. We walked in the door and someone asked if they could help us. We said we wanted to get some drinks and something to eat. The lady (possibly the owner) said to sit down and she would see if the kitchen staff could start up early to prepare our food. I was SO excited for Reunion Brewery to come to downtown Iowa City. Not just because I love the brews it serves up but as a lifelong Iowa City native-- I was thrilled it was moving into THIS spot. It has LONG been a LARGE empty space in the pedmall. I love the space. It is one of the few establishments downtown the boats three levels. Each features a bar with over twenty taps. The decor is on point, ReUnion definitely has a certain style and I adore that they embrace it throughout all of their venues. The patio (with a bar) is also fabulous! The beers are always fabulous. I recommend their flagship, Juice Factory. But also to check out their seasonal brews-- I am almost always impressed with their darker options. The food menu is ever changing (though it really has expanded since opening and also gone down in price). From appetizers to sandwiches to bowls to tacos to some homey entrees (like meatloaf and broasted chicken). I've popped in a few times since its opened and can say while I love this addition for IC-- the Coralville location is still the star, IMO. As for parking-- it's no secret downtown IC has a problem-- I'd recommend the Dubuque Street Ramp or Capitol Street Ramp. (Both are free the first hour.) Quite difficult to find the brewery & parking! The murals & art are amazing! The waitress didn't know what ciders or seltzers they had despite them having both on tap. She also didn't bring side plates fit our clearly shared appetizer of deviled eggs. The order was 6 halves & looked beautiful but the jane made them almost too sweet. My Currywurst was very tasty! I asked if ut came in a bun (I am GF), & she said it did but later returned to tell me it was just the wurst on top of fries. Fine! The fries were tasty w/ a nice BBQ(?) sauce & Aioli. I was excited to check our Reunion's new Iowa City location after hearing so many people saying great things. Although I left underwhelmed from my experience. My team from work stopped by for drinks and appetizers as a graduation celebration for our student worker and to celebrate some recent birthdays on the team. The service was okay but almost no one at the table liked their drinks. A few ordered their margaritas of tap and everyone complained they were way too sour. I ordered a mule which was served in a rocks glass which I can overlook, although mine also tasted sour with not even a hint of ginger beer. I've never had a mule that had zero ginger flavor. As for the appetizers it seems like most of the group enjoyed them although I was disappointed that they were highly limited on vegetarian appetizer options. The vibe and atmosphere was good but the rest left me unimpressed. read more

We popped in here around 1:30pm on the Saturday during Pridefest. Surprisingly the place was near-empty, so we were seated and served right away. Our waitress (can't remember her name) was awesome and very attentive. We really came in here for the beer and atmosphere, food was a bonus. We ordered drinks and a couple of the pretzel appetizers. The guys enjoyed their beers, the sauces that accompanied the pretzel were the best part of the app, not the pretzel itself. My uncle ordered the tenderloin sandwich (looked delicious and loaded with toppings) and my husband ordered a chicken quesadilla. I ordered the Lady Hawk cocktail. It was good, but not so good that I would order it again. After tip we spent $100. Enjoyed the ambiance (very beer hall like but with high top tables) and the customer service was great. 4/5 stars because I really feel like the additional charges for side items was a bit much. $4 extra for fries with the tenderloin sandwich and $4 or so for the rice and beans that accompanied the quesadilla. I'm a vegetarian and there were just a few options for me. Menu didn't state whether burgers could be swapped for black bean or veggie. There is room for improvement here. Really enjoyed this place for a few days in a row while in Iowa City. The manager and bar staff were great, the food was better than expected for a bar, and they have great beers. I did not participate, but they have Karaoke on Wednesdays upstairs, and they also have a downstairs area. They serve alcohol (including my personal fav, Macallan) as well as Beer, so that is a plus. They also stay open late. I highly recommend if you're looking for great beers instead of standard Bud and Miller Lights. read more

Reunion is a very good brewery! The service snd management are very helpful! Food is very solid. Their Tres Leches cake and apple crisp skillets are my personal favorite deserts. When it comes to food the house burger, chipotle chicken quesadilla, chicken tenders, and Korean bbq wings are my personal favorites to order! Visited Reunion Brewery and a trip from the quad cities and was very impressed with their rotating beers. It was the first time I've had mead and they had a bumble berry mead on tap from East grove farms and it was amazing! After a while they stopped keeping it on tap which was surprising because it would always sell out. Not sure the thought process but I haven't really returned since. The staff has always been friendly and they have great specials but they need to put East grove farms as a permanent tap. read more

I was in Iowa City for the first time in a couple years this weekend and was so excited to go into Reunion! Joe, at the door, was super nice and attentive and made me feel super safe (as i was kind of nervous being downtown for the first time in awhile) and Bree (?) a bartender upstairs was great. First off, this review pertains only to the night life of ReUnion brewery. Having several years of bartending/bouncing experience, I thought, would prepare me for any kind of bar. I was wrong. If you are looking for a mosh pit of no respect, inexperienced bartenders, and owners that think strobe lights are the only decoration you need then this is the place. I continue to really like this restaurant. I feel that it has the best mix of outdoor space, expansive menu, and price, compared to others in the area like St Burch and Pullman. The outdoor space is awesome--in the pedmall, trees overhead, no cars driving by. The menu has a good selection of both italian and taco entrees, all prepared with fresh ingredients. The flavors are creative, the prices competitive. They brew their own beer. And they've done really well by my wife, who avoids dairy and red meat and processed carbs. She makes a request for modifications and they accommodate her desires creatively and produce something yummy. read more

My husband and I were visiting our Univ of Iowa son to celebrate his birthday. We headed to the bar scene in downtown Iowa City and stopped by Reunion because my son and his roommates thought we would enjoy the drinks and atmosphere. It was a very cold night and the line to get in was pretty long. After a few minutes the manager came out and pulled us from line and said we don't need to wait. It was a very kind thing to do for the only parents waiting in line. The beer menu was long and impressive. And, I was glad to see two NA drinks for those of us attempting Dry January! Everyone in our group ordered something different and we're happy with our choices. The music was good and the fun artwork gave the place a funky vibe. Impossible to get a drink within 15 minutes. (And that's being generous) The two first women friendly bathrooms upstairs are so happy I can see into the men's "waiting area" outside of the room. Bad experience, employees are very rude. Was with family and had a reservation, bouncers insisted we needed to pay "cover". We tried to explain that we had a reservation, the bouncers scoffed and continued to demand cover. We could not understand why we would have to pay a cover to eat at the restaurant. I had one of the most uniquely terrible bar experiences of my life last night at Reunion. Within the first ten minutes there I had a drink spilled on me, someone tried to steal my jacket, and someone puked on the floor in front of me. It was incredibly clear that their security team is doing nothing to remove too drunk, problematic people. At the end of the night, 15 minutes before the bar closed, security guards started shining strobe flashlights in everyone's eyes and screaming in our faces. I saw multiple fights break out, one of them being over another incident of a stolen jacket. When a bar charges you a $10 cover at the door, you usually don't expect to be treated like a zoo animal at the end of the night. A girl was trying to find her sister and started a fight with me and my friends and she was being aggressive. The bouncer took my black friends wrist band and let the white girls walk away with their wrist bands. Another friend was simply sitting at a table alone and got kicked out due to the situation. There was no refund or discussion allowed. We were in the bottom area not caring and waiting in line patiently. The fact they took $100 from a group of 5 girls and kicked out immediately due to standing in line and asking why a girl tried to cut is ridiculous. Especially considering one girl was 18 kind you the bar has to be 21 and over and the other was even under 21 is unfair. Everybody of the 5 was of age, paid, and was respectful and listened to everyone around us. Lastly, the fact they only took the mixed girls wrist band is ridiculous. If you want to go to waste money 10/10 recommend otherwise not a fan. 0/10 stars read more
