Even after coming to new hope commons for years I am only just finding this hole in the wall!…read more I did the Sculpt class with Bridget and boy was it tough. It was a full body work out in 50 mins and I think it was pretty fast paced but got in some burns. I think my preference would be slower paced work outs but the choreography was interesting and made sense for a full body session! The place is a little hard to find but thankfully I followed others who were in fitness clothes and made my way upstairs ok. The studio used was clean and I loved that all of our supplies were set out with a mat all ready to go. I do wish the classes orientation (the room itself) wasn't so narrow and long as it was hard to see the instructors movements around other people but she did her best to go on each side of the room for the exercises and did them all with us which was also nice. Can't speak on price since I found this place through class pass but I do think if you are looking for a hard, fast paced, heart rate up, and well rounded class this one was a good one

The instructors are not only fun and spirited, they push you to keep going whether your cycling, holding a plank or doing repetitive arms. I appreciate the challenge in the classes as well as the different studio wide challenges that they encourage everyone to partake in! I also appreciate how welcoming and personable everyone! Great employees too!

I really like how the class is structured with 20 minutes of spin, 20 minutes of strength training, and 20 minutes of yoga. The spin portion is motivating with good music and your name shows up on a screen with your optimal power zone so you can continuously push yourself. No one knows who is who unless you know someone's name ;) And everyone's is different to cater towards your level! Since it's only 20 minutes not many people wear clip in shoes - but you can! The strength training portion is always different. Sometimes it's weights, straps, or even slam balls. I really like that the exercises are also shown on screens throughout the strength training area - so you won't forget what you need to do right after the instructor goes through everything. It also gives the countdowns so you know how much time is left for each exercise. The yoga is the part that's a little hit or miss for me. Sometimes it is sooo incredibly fast and I don't feel like I can keep up. And then sometimes it's just right.

Not only are her choreography and songs are amazing, but the other people that attend her classes are encouraging and friendly. I do not like Zumba classes that feel like aerobics, and I have low tolerance for instructors who can't dance, who have no rhythm, and who can't tell the difference between the various genres of Latin and world music. I haven't encountered any of these problems with Erica. She keeps to the beat, she's very energetic, and she knows what's up. Her class is challenging, but you will have a lot of fun and you will sweat! Students with a dance background will appreciate her choreographies. And her music is awesome. No Pitbull! She plays soca, dancehall, reggaeton, West African music, hip hop, and r 'n b, plus authentic salsa and merengue, with accurate moves to match. One of her routines has a bhangra flavor too. When we do squats we do them to the go-go classic "Da Butt" Erica currently holds classes 4 times a week in 3 different locations in South Durham and RTP: Monday 7:30 pm at Learning Tots Academy, Tues 7:30 pm at Bethesda Elementary School (you have to go around to the back of the main school building! I learned this the hard way), Thurs 7:30 pm at the Bethesda Elementary School gymnasium (separate building from Tues nt's class), and Sat 9:30 am at Learning Tots. She also does some special events, and she sells Zumba gear. The walk-in rate for classes is $7 (going up to $8 soon though) and she offers discounted passes (punch cards) for 5 or 10 classes each. There are about 50 students at each of her classes! but there is plenty of room to move around, and her students come in all shapes and sizes, so don't be shy. Bring water and a sweat towel!
