I visited Revitalization when it first opened and had a great experience overall. At the time, things were a bit disorganized, which I completely understood given they were newly operating. On my most recent visit, however, my experience was very different. The 60-minute massage itself was excellent, and I was happy with the service. When it came time to pay, I left a 20% gratuity ($14), which I consider to be a fair and generous tip. Then, I was handed a sign stating, "We request a minimum tip of $15 on all services." This left me feeling surprised and uncomfortable. While I'm always willing to tip appropriately for good service, I don't think it's reasonable to enforce or pressure customers into a specific gratuity amount, especially when the tip already reflects standard expectations. Scheduled an appointment yesterday for 9:00 am this morning. When I showed up the doors were locked and the hours indicated that they open at 9:30. I waited 15 minutes and no one showed up. I am very concerned about the professionalism and business practices at this establishment. Some of the estheticians and massage therapists did not appear to have the appropriate licenses or certifications for the services they were providing. In addition, my massage therapist used her phone during my massage, which I found very unprofessional. I have also heard that male customers may be allowed to engage in inappropriate behavior inside the treatment rooms. There's also another room dedicated to foot massages. I noticed five private massage rooms, with some designed for couples massages. I booked a 60-minute Swedish massage and felt totally relaxed afterward. The massage room was cozy, with a warm bed, which made it even more comfortable. My therapist, Summer, did a great job with strong hands, great technique, and a calm, positive energy. The prices are very reasonable, and since they're still a new business, there are some great deals available. Since the place is still new, I'd recommend being patient as they work out any kinks. My appointment was delayed by about 10 minutes, but Doris took great care of me in the meantime by giving me a tour and offering a heated pad and a spritz of essential oils before Summer arrived and I still got the full time for my massage. The massage was okay, but overall it wasn't a very relaxing experience. After the session, I honestly didn't feel like I had even gotten a massage. The hot stones were way too hot and were uncomfortable to the point where they almost burned my skin. What really hurt the experience, though, was the tipping situation. When I went to pay, the therapist kept pressuring me to leave a larger tip and wouldn't let me leave when I tried to tip an amount I was comfortable with. That made for a very awkward and unpleasant ending to the visit. Such a great little find! Ample parking, easy to find, and the hospitality is A+! Their rooms are also very calming with the dim lighting, soft sheets and nature sounds. I booked a Groupon for me and my boyfriend's couples massage. First we were charged $15 each more for deep tissue. We payed no problem. We were lead to a nice room, we undressed and both left our underwear on face down. Girls took a while to come back. My boyfriend's masseuse took a restroom break along with constantly stopping and also massaging with one hand. Apart from that I got exposed topless because she told me to flip and as I did she completely lifted the sheet. They both basically cradled us with their legs. Almost sitting on us. My boyfriend felt his lady did sit with her legs both beside his head. Our add on of hot stones lasted a whole 2-3 min. Lastly, we did not tip considering we felt we had both been groped/touched the way we did not intend to be. The ladies ran after us outside harassing us for a tip. Okay so let's start with the obvious pluses. 1. Great location. Right off the freeway. In a well kept strip mall, with plenty of parking. 2. They are a Groupon friendly business, which is a great way to introduce yourself and gain clients. 3. THEY ARE CLEAN. LIKE IMMACULATE CLEAN. The business itself is decorated nicely and it's CLEAN. Here's the rundown. Couples massage bought on Groupon $129, but there were extra discounts, so paid $90. The cost if bought in store is $140. PSA... tip on the regular price of your service. It's the right thing to do! Groupon deal gave us an add on for free. We chose hot stone. Great choice. Not too sure how much that add on was worth. The massage was Swedish style (just the right pressure for our bodies) They did ask if we wanted to upgrade to a deep tissue. I didn't feel pressured into the upgrade choice. It's up-selling. Normal business practice. Also, contrary to other reviews there was no pressure regarding tipping. Massages I had Vivian, my partner had Doris. Upon entering the room it definitely gives the vibe of relaxing. The space is large and inviting. Spa music/nature sounds are playing in the background and the lights are dim and the room is free from any scents. The tables are sturdy and comfortable. Face down start as always, and this is the position for the majority of the massage. They start off over the sheet working the whole body. Then they go onto sections using oil, tucking back the sheet to expose those areas. It was a very respectful massage. Swedish is just the right amount of pressure for us. After each section is done, the hot stones come out. Once again going over each area with them. Once complete, hot towels are brought out to wipe excess oil off and then you turn over. The major focus is shoulders, neck, face and head. No oil is used. (I'm glad off this...I hate walking out with greasy hair) Again the sheet is tucked to do each leg and each arm. Then you're covered fully again for the quick over the sheet final portion. All in all this was a good experience. I think both ladies were efficient, respectful, and good. But I must mention one hiccup. Right at the beginning of the massage, Doris excused herself to tend to a customer at the counter. When she did this a second time I spoke up and said that it was unacceptable to leave the massage to handle the front. She was apologetic, and didn't leave again. AND she did not short my partner any massage time. Vivian finished me, while Doris continued another 5 minutes on my partner. Upon leaving you're handed a bottle of water. Again Doris apologized and thanked us for our patience. They both were very nice and I won't hold that issue against them. Should you try this place out? Definitely! Used a Groupon. Paid 52.99 for 60 min Swedish with oil and hot stones. it said it was marked down from $120. Not sure how accurate that is as their website does not specifically list Swedish, only relaxing and the price for that massage is listed as $70 for 60 min. I'm assuming this is the massage I got as the woman told me it would just be relaxing and not deep unless I wanted to pay more. I stuck with the relaxing. It's still a great price but just a little confusing on all the pricing and massage styles. She even showed me to my room told me to take my clothes off, but left the door propped open just a bit. I was uncomfortable, getting dressed with the door propped so I shut it all the way. I went in not expecting much after reading all the reviews. So you can imagine my surprise when I received an amazing massage. My therapist was not gentle as others mentioned . I woke up the next day with sore muscles as I expect when I get a good massage. I got this place off Groupon and I paid for a 90 min couples massage with one add on, upon getting there they tell me if I want to add deep tissue I would have to pay an extra $15 which was fine (mind you they didn't consider the one add on I paid for) but I only had $40 cash which was gonna be the tip $20 for each person. I handed them all I had left in cash and she handed me a sign saying they required $15 as a minimum for tips per person. As a service provider myself I never expect a tip but if it's possible I am very grateful for whatever a client is able or willing to give, since they are already paying for what MY PRICE is listed as for the work and time. Throughout the massage, the masseuses were sniffling, coughing, and breathing through their mouths. It was distracting from the relaxation of the massage and they were not wearing masks. The masseuse also had her phone on the bed that was vibrating throughout the massage, unprofessional and uncomfortable. One would hope that the phones weren't used to take pictures or videos. At the end of the massage, I handed the masseuse a 15% tip. She then pointed to the sign saying they require a minimum of $15 for tips. This was not advertised while booking, and I'm not sure if it's fair to require tips of customers -- especially not a minimum amount. I then went home and immediately showered and took vitamins out of fear of getting sick myself. While the masseuses were talented, I do not think I will be going back Additionally, looking at the yelp reviews, it seems like the management has responded multiple times about the tipping issue and phone on the bed issue as far back as 11 months ago and nothing has changed. We booked a 60-minute Swedish massage with a hot stone add-on. While some parts of the massage were decent, the overall experience felt uncomfortable and unprofessional. Both masseuses appeared visibly sick, constantly sniffling, coughing, and breathing heavily through their mouths throughout the session, and neither wore masks. It made it difficult to fully relax. One of the masseuses also kept her phone on the massage table, and it was vibrating during the massage, which felt distracting and unprofessional. The massage itself felt very minimal for a full hour service. The face and head portion lasted only a few seconds, and at certain points you could hear them hesitating or struggling to continue the routine. There were also basic service details missing -- no water was offered, and there was no discussion about oil or lotion preferences beforehand. The most uncomfortable part happened at the end. After leaving a 15% tip, the masseuse pulled out a sign from underneath the table stating there is a $15 minimum tip requirement. This sign was not posted anywhere beforehand or mentioned during booking. On top of that, several other masseuses came out and pressured us to leave a larger tip, which felt very uncomfortable and intimidating. If a business has a required gratuity or minimum tip, that should be clearly communicated upfront, not revealed after the service is finished. After reading other Yelp reviews, it seems management has been responding to similar complaints about tipping pressure and phones on the tables for nearly a year, yet nothing appears to have changed. On top of that, they do not disclose their mandatory minimum tip policy upfront. I was only told about a required $20 tip at the end of the service, which felt misleading and unprofessional. In California, tips are supposed to be voluntary and cannot legally be required as an extra, undisclosed charge on top of the service price, so presenting it this way is very concerning. I normally don't respond to upselling, but when I came in for my 1 hour Swedish massage they told me that the Swedish massage will only be relaxing and not help any pressure points at all (I've had amazing swedish massages in the past that still did that!) so I decided to pay $20 extra for a deep tissue. What I received was maybe 15 mins deep tissue and 45 mins gentle rub down, very disappointing when I paid extra. They also told me I could get an add on for free, I asked if the cupping would hurt and they said absolutely not, so I chose that. It hurt me really bad! I had cupping marks for over a week after, they did it WAY too hard. And the only way to communicate was with the girl translating on her phone. And like another review mentioned, her phone vibrated loudly the entire session. Then after I was done, no asking of how it was or offer of water. I was not allowed to pay the extra $20 after the massage so that I could do it all together with the tip, so I had to awkwardly say I wanted to just pay the tip on my card. Red flags from the beginning. First red flag is when I called a week in advance to schedule a noon appointment for a couple's massage. I noticed when I called, the person who answered the phone did not get my name and number down like a normal receptionist would, but I did not pay it any mind thinking they had their own system. Second red flag is the day of the appointment I go in 10 minutes early. A lady comes out to help, but was speaking an Asian language and then shows me her phone translator saying for us to "come back in an hour because there was someone ahead of us" like I didn't make an appointment. I wasn't even able to communicate back to her that I was unable to come back in an hour. Therefore, how would I communicate my massage and well being needs if they don't have someone who speaks English.
