I'm a big fan of Revival and have been going to this store since I was in college and every time I visit Iowa City I stop by. I would describe Revival as a Vintage Boutique that buys and resells thrifted and new items + home goods (candles, room sprays, incense) It's been about five years since my return and oh how things have changed! I'll start with the positive first: they now sell sex toys and lube (Maude brand) which is super cool. The candles they sell are so unique and well crafted. What a creative idea to use old fish tins for the base! The not so good: in summary everything's extremely overpriced. Revival use to be more of a thrift store (and yes they still buy and resell thrifted items) but now a large selection of their items are new and well over $100. Mind you this is not a luxury store. Now, I will say Revival has always carried new items and more "high quality pieces" however, today I saw a "preloved" coach bag for $300+ which was insane to me. The selection of clothing is more neutral and basic tones like cream, nude, brown and white. I miss the color and variety that use to be! Today I purchased some groovy sunglasses, vintage Levi Jeans, and some other new goodies. I still love this place and will check it out again the next time I'm in town! read more

Me and my wife recently came here exploring the area of Downtown Iowa City. Staff here was friendly and we're great with letting my wife try on all of their shirts they were selling. They had very attractive brands, and fashion sense. Clean store with fair prices. Overall, solid reccomend! read more

Flawless! I've thrifted so many cute sweaters from here that were reasonably priced. They have a great selection of clothes. They even have various shoes and accessories. Their incense smells SO GOOD, and the air fresheners are a must have (especially thyme). Staff is really friendly too. Took my husband here (he doesn't really enjoy shopping) but was impressed with the mens selection they had in the back. Super cute, will be back! read more

On day thirty one, I online shopped. I read this great article the other day about present shopping intentionally. (Eco-Friendly, Hand-Made, Small Biz, Woman Owned... etc) It got me inspired. With Mother's Day a whopping THREE weeks away-- I figured I'd both support my local woman-owned small biz and get a gift or two to make a mom in my life feel seen, loved and appreciated. This review is for an online shopping experience at Revival. Their site is easy to use. I love the tabs...from new to sale items. Gifts for under $25 tab, too. They've got a little bit of something for everyone-- but compared to the store, selection is a bit limited. With the lovely lady in my life being 70+ and growing more fearful by the day of this pandemic-- I opted for the Cold & Flu Blend of essential oils. Practical, yet thoughtful. (Annnnnd... I may have gotten something for myself. HEY. I'm a mom, too! Revival has a WONDERFUL Free People selection.) I made my two purchases... got to the dreaded shipping options... and saw all local deliveries are free! I got my package a mere TEN HOURS after ordering it. My other favorite boutique in Iowa City. Revival has such a great selection of clothes, thrift to new retail items. Their jewelry selection is some of my favorites- they always have super dainty rings for cheap that I love to come back for and stack em. Their necklaces and earrings are always gorgeous, too. The clothes are a little bit pricier, however, for the quality I think they are beyond worth it. I always stop here for jeans, they have the best brands to buy from. The clothes are something different than just your usual buys. Whoever is selecting and buying these items for the boutique has an amazing sense of fashion. They are classic pieces but something different that you will never find anywhere else. I also love their graphic tees! They sell Baggu accessories, sunglasses and Thinx underwear. They also sell Free People intimates, which you can't find really anywhere else in the area. Since they've added on, they have men's clothing and thrift items. Thrift bags and shoes; that look brand new. Again all so different! This is always one of my stops when I'm back in town. They have rewards, too. Which makes the shopping so much worth it. read more

As a local customer for 15+ plus years, I'm shocked and saddened by the lack of customer service. I dropped off my mother's entire vintage closet of pristine 1980's clothing to Revival and asked for store credit. A year+ later, I called into use the credit and they said it had expired. I gave them $100's if not $1,000's of dollars of clothing and I never received an email notification, call, or text to notify me of the credit terminating. -- Shocking, considering the clerks at the time said it was, "one of the best drops they had seen," -- and to boot, I had gone to high school with the manager. I was not walk-in from the street or college student. I emailed the store and there was no meeting in the middle, no compensation, no apologies, and silence from the owner. ....Ps, currently looking for a better option to take the remainder of a fabulous vintage closet. read more

I've always loved this store. They've now expanded to have a home goods and men's section in addition to their great new & used women's section! The store layout is bright and airy. Their prices for new clothes are more expensive than stores like Von Maur-- the prices remind me of Anthropologie. But you get what you pay for, and I've gotten several great items here over the years. Their signature leather wallet has held up through 5+ years of daily use! read more

This is my favorite consignment/vintage clothing store of all time. They organize the whole store by color (which is how i organise my closet). I always find at least 3 things. They have an amazing mix of contemporary to vintage. Where else can one find an amazingly classy black Banana Republic dress, a lumpy, vintage Givenchy wool jacket, a button-up oxford that fits like a glove and a terry cloth bathing suit? An amazing selection in the most comfortable of shopping settings where the music is awesome and the sales people know their stuff. I never feel overwhelmed by the selection and could spend hours fingering through each rack. Best clothing store in Iowa City. I love the mix of vintage and updated items. It is great for flipping through racks of gently worn consignments and finding amazing pieces, that you can't find anywhere else. They also carry really funky new brands that are a bit irresistible, always on the forefront of fashion and trends. I like how they cater to local-artist and patrons by carrying designs made by folks here in Iowa City. As I'm bored with plain old blue jeans, I always look for them in different colors. And I want there to be not one iota of spandex in those jeans, which is a tall order these days. So imagine my surprise when I found a pair of light gray jeans that were a cotton/poly blend! They also were straight-legged (another prerequisite) and were only $18 - SOLD! The multi-colored turtleneck I liked was a different story: it fit really well, but I thought the $28 price tag was a little high. Like all thrift stores, it's hit or miss. Unfortunately, I've had too many "miss" sorts of experiences there lately. Firstly, if you're at all bigger than a size Large, forget about it. No big or tall girls allowed here. Secondly, if you try to sell to them...make sure you don't get sent on a wild goose chase. I've tried to sell to them 3 or 4 times. Once, I was told by one of the employees to bring back a few specific items when they were buying for Fall because they would buy them then, and when I did bring them back, they wouldn't buy them. Why waste my time like that?! On another occasion, the employee must have thought that I had left the store when she was looking through my clothes, because she started making obnoxious comments about one of the dresses I brought in to another employee. Not very classy. Or mature, for that matter. Occasionally, you can find something really cute here. But you can say the same thing about the Goodwill or Salvation Army!!! Sure, the store is packaged well, and things are marketed in a hip(ster) fashion, but for an all consignment, supposedly curated assortment of clothing, it's rather lackluster. Items from Forever 21 abound...and are priced comparably to the sale rack...which is where these items would be if they were new. Vintage is in, yes, but not by default. Some of their vintage items are so old ladyish and raggedy, I'm not sure a nursing home would want them. Sigh. Being from New York, I miss consignment shops that are actually fashionable and worth exploring. read more

I started shopping here years ago as a college student and now whenever I'm back in town I am sure to stop in. They have a huge variety of both new (super cute) clothing and a great mix of used and vintage styles (that look brand new). The store is set up so cute, they were very helpful and friendly, can't say enough good things. Revival is a must-do for the true fashionista! As a former better dress buyer for Von Maur, I've found some amazing pieces that I wouldn't find anywhere else at super reasonable prices! The store is always organized and easy to navigate. In addition, the treasures you encounter will not be seen on everyone in your friend circle. The designers range from Calvin Klein to Coach to Tory Birch. I get tons of compliments on my purchases without having to spend a lot. Advice...be sure to try items on before leaving the store and skip the cupcakes...not that great. read more

The shopkeepers are always friendly and judging by their merchandise, they must have excellent taste as well. Shop here for great prices on unique and beautiful clothes. Revival is a small independent clothing store that offers a good selection of vintage, gently-used and new boutique-style pieces. The prices are reasonable, and there is a good mix of styles/eras represented in the vintage collection. My only beef with the selection is that, on the whole, it can be difficult to find smaller-sized items (though this seems to be the case at many thrift shops throughout the Midwest). The store is clean and spacious (unlike the nearby Ragstock franchise store), and the gals who run the place are nice and cool in a totally unpretentious way (also unlike Ragstock). Selling is just as easy as buying at Revival, and I've always found their offers to be very competitive. A gem amongst jagged rocks in the ped mall. Check it out. read more

I have been shopping here for a long time, since they had their old spot. I love their stuff, they have some great pieces. However, on my recent trip I had a really unpleasant buying experience. The disdain the girl, Sam, had for me was damn-near touchable, all because I came in close to 4 when they have an apparent shift change. I had called to make sure I was doing everything right before I came in, too. She didn't buy any of my things and I had some great vintage items. I work as a fashion product developer in New York and places like Buffalo Exchange will buy most of my stuff. Bringing things in has become a waste of time, shopping is still fun though. read more
