Some super cute art inside the store.

Hands down, the best boutique/clothing store in Iowa City. They have a huge range of items for really great prices, and they are constantly getting in new stuff, so there is something here for everyone! They also have really great plant holders, baby clothes, bath stuff, etc, so it's the perfect boutique to stop into if you need to pick up a gift for almost anyone. Additionally, literally every single person that works here is totally sweet and really knowledgable about their products since many of the employees assist with buying items for the store and some of the employees even make items they sell (like Brooke, who sells the amazing air plant hangers, which are just gorgeous). And the manager, Molly, just could not be any better! I've lived in many cities across the globe, and this is seriously one of my favorite stores anywhere. You HAVE to check this place out!

I would describe Revival as a Vintage Boutique that buys and resells thrifted and new items + home goods (candles, room sprays, incense) It's been about five years since my return and oh how things have changed! I'll start with the positive first: they now sell sex toys and lube (Maude brand) which is super cool. The candles they sell are so unique and well crafted. What a creative idea to use old fish tins for the base! The not so good: in summary everything's extremely overpriced. Revival use to be more of a thrift store (and yes they still buy and resell thrifted items) but now a large selection of their items are new and well over $100. Mind you this is not a luxury store. Now, I will say Revival has always carried new items and more "high quality pieces" however, today I saw a "preloved" coach bag for $300+ which was insane to me. The selection of clothing is more neutral and basic tones like cream, nude, brown and white. I miss the color and variety that use to be! Today I purchased some groovy sunglasses, vintage Levi Jeans, and some other new goodies. I still love this place and will check it out again the next time I'm in town!

While the pricing and quality of items being sold is still great, the new owner is very unprofessional and makes the experience of shopping at this store unenjoyable. I understand purchasing and running a new business can be stressful, but there is no excuse to be rude to customers. Upon entering the store, I was barked at by the owner to "shut the door" without a "please", "thank you", or even a "good morning". As I shopped, I felt as if I was in the way and upon checkout, I felt the same. There were no smiles or pleasantries exchanged. It is interesting because I notice the new owner is trying to make her presence on social media known, and talks about supporting those who need help and raising money for various charities. Anita, please work on your people skills and having genuine care for others that is actually demonstrated in your business practices. Perhaps watching an episode of "Daniel Tiger" on kindness could go far for you. Unfortunately, I will be rethinking shopping here not due to the quality of items, but due to poor ownership.

I have always been greeted with a smile by their staff. And can't say I have any poor experiences. Parking could be tricky, especially with school in session. The shop is curated with mid-century modern and modern furniture, art and records, plus clothes like vintage Hawkeye apparel, hats and jerseys. Definitely recommend this new, inspiring shop! Prices are great and the selection is varied.

Most of the clothes I brought in were not accepted because the tag manufacture date showed they were made 2-3 years ago, despite them being in excellent condition & classic styles from quality brands. It seems like an odd policy for a store to not accept a wool LL Bean coat because it was manufactured two years ago, but isn't above selling Lulularoe. Overall the store has a very "mature" feel, to put it politely, and whoever is curating the inventory determined to be good enough to sell seems to be very out of touch with styles desirable for anyone younger than 60 years old. Perhaps the most memorable part of this store however is how badly it reeks of the Jimmy Johns sub store next store to it. I can't imagine what the clothes smell like once you get them home! I will not be returning & would not recommend consigning or shopping here.
