I always thoroughly research and advocate for myself when I seek any medical help. However, I didn't need to do that here. I was rear ended on the highway in November 2023. I woke up the following day with a massive headache and extreme pain that radiated to my fingers. After some research, I decided to make an appointment with Dr. Cohen. Dr. Cohen immediately sent me to get an MRI and CT. It was determined my cervical spine was affected. APPOINTMENT: I was looking for a chiropractor in my area since shelter at home has really taken a toll on my back since I sit for the majority of the day (studying as student before, and now working full time at the desk). Even before work-from-home started, I've been having an unsettling, nagging, (sometimes sharp) pain in my upper back/rib and I would constantly have to pull my shoulders back to crack the area to alleviate the pain temporarily. The pain has gotten worse over the course of a year. So after checking my network of chiropractors listed on my insurance's network page (BlueCard PPO), I found Dr. Cohen and cross-referenced on Yelp to see what the reviews were like. Needless to say, I can see where the 5-star ratings are coming from. I was very pleased with my experience from the moment I called to book an appointment. Dr. Cohen verified my insurance and was transparent with the cost of each visit, which is very afforadable (at least for my insurance coverage, I pay $10 per visit). It's also convenient that his practice doesn't close until 6pm on weekdays, and is open on Sunday so it is easy to find an appointment time that works for you. DOCTOR: Dr. Cohen is very friendly, energetic, informative, professional, and most importantly HONEST. On my first visit, he palpated my back to diagnose my main concerns, and concluded that an x-ray wasn't necessary for my case (to my delight). My previous chiropractor wouldn't even consider treating me without paying for an x-ray first and buying a long term bundle plan. Dr. Cohen's philosophy is that he wants you to get better with each visit in hopes that after a couple of visits you won't need to see him anymore. TREATMENT: Dr. Cohen taught me several at-home exercises to help improve and maintain the health of my neck and spine, and eagerly answered any questions I had. For the actual treatment, he relaxed my muscles under a stimulator before he went on with the adjustments. Again, he was very honest and stated that adjustments won't magically fix all my problems immediately---I'd still have to put in the effort to maintain the health of my spine myself by being conscious of my posture and regularly doing the exercises he taught me. I can not thank Dr.Cohen enough for helping me fix my pain. I came in barely able to walk due to my Piriformis. I've never experienced such pain before. I'd like to start by giving a little background; I've been running now for a little over 10 weeks. These last few weeks I've averaged 40 miles a week. This is a big change for my body because I haven't ran in months. On Sunday I ran 10 mikes and injured my ankle. I had to wrap my ankle Monday to be able to walk on it. Tuesday I felt extremely tender and sore when I applied weight on it. I had spoke with Dr. Cohen in Monday, and he was able to schedule me in Tuesday evening, to accommodate my work schedule. I was a bit skeptical about this laser therapy doing much. But to my surprise after the therapy my ankle didn't feel tender or sore. I thought it was just the initial heat of the laser that helped easy the pain. But Wednesday I woke up and it felt fine. I ended up running 8 miles Wednesday afternoon with no pain. I wrapped my ankle as a precaution, but have no pain at all. I'm so surprised by this that I'm scheduling another visit for an old knee injury that pops up frequently and an old dislocated thumb injury that still get sore from time to time. I was referred to Dr. Cohen by my primary physician. Having had mixed results with Chiropractors in the past made me a bit hesitant to give this another shot for my sciatic pain.
