CONVENIENT and EFFECTIVE! This review is for the SAT Prep Services. My daughter used Revolution Prep last summer for 24 sessions. Gavyn was the guy who was our contact and he was fantastic, always getting back to me right away with questions and helping to navigate the process. After comparing some programs and prices, we went with Revolution Prep because we needed a flexible program due to other activities, trips and camps. We appreciated that we could be matched with someone who could work around our schedule and on evenings and Sundays, when she had more free time. It was very convenient for me, as a parent, to not have to drive her anywhere. For her, she appreciated being able to sleep in and wake up just 5 minutes before her session and that she could sign onto the session from anywhere with an internet connection, for example, at a hotel when we were on vacation. The sessions were personalized for what my daughter needed to or wanted to practice. I felt that this was key because she did not have to sit through instruction on subject matter that she had already mastered or have anyone else slow her down, which is what would have happened in a group class. She began by taking one initial practice SAT to get a baseline for her skills and after that, she took 6 additional practice SAT tests. You should be aware that the student will need to set aside plenty of time to do these timed practice SAT tests (3 hours in one sitting each) in addition to working on problems on their own. The tutor was exceptional. We realize that with this type of program that is done via video conferencing, there is a larger pool of tutors available than a local tutoring center. My daughter's tutor was a very experienced high school math teacher from out-of-state who had seen every type of math SAT problem presented and could show her not only how to solve the problems, but how to be most efficient when doing so (i.e., solving vs. back-solving). She also gave many tips and tools to tackle the Verbal sections. We could not be more pleased with how things turned out for our kid. It took a lot of hard work on her part and it was essential having the tutor walking alongside her and not only tutoring the material, but giving her confidence about her skills. Her success would definitely not have come so easily if she had taken a class or tried to do self-study. The 1:1 personalized training or tutoring might not have been the most affordable choice, but we certainly cannot argue with the results (scored in the 99+ percentile) we got by using Revolution Prep. read more

I would strongly caution families before working with this tutoring company. The experience has been deeply disappointing on multiple levels: lack of professionalism, lack of transparency, and practices that feel misleading at best. Revolution provides no clear instructional plan or academic strategy and no visibility into what actually happens during sessions. Full session recordings are not shared, there are no parent check-ins, and after-session email "summaries" are short, unspecific, and completely useless. Like the previous reviewer stated, this company advertises standard hour-long sessions, but in practice they consistently run significantly shorter than 60 minutes, often under 55 minutes. The administrative side of the company is just as problematic as the tutoring itself. When you call, staff are defensive and avoid answering basic questions. The overall impression is that Revolution's priority is protecting the company and avoiding accountability. For a company that markets itself as a premium academic service, the level of professionalism and service falls far short of expectations. Don't waste your time -- at this point, there are so many online tutoring companies that there is zero reason to take a risk with Revolution Prep and gamble with your child's education and time. read more

Misleading: The company is not well organized, the website is hard to navigate compared to others, and I found it incredibly deceptive to pay for 12 hours broken into 30 minute sessions, but they only go 25 minutes because of policy. Over time, that means while I anticipated having 720 minutes (12 hours) of tutoring, my child only receives 600 mins (10 hours) due to their practices. Kristen was also very accommodating to my daughter's learning style, ensuring she grasped the material effectively. Feels like a bit of a scam tbh. They have my daughter low score on the practice test before she had finished taking it. There was some weird timing issues where they said the results were ready to view but she was still taking the test. However, I would like to say after I left my contact information so they can answer some of my questions, I started to receive massive amount of phone and email spams from things I never heard of. We are exceedingly impressed with the remarkable tutoring our children have received from Revolution Prep. Our children (ages 11 and 10) have been working with Revolution for the last month, focusing on Math, Reading Comprehension, and preparation for the ISEE test. Every step of the process has been easy, helpful, and overall outstanding. Our Advisor, Justin, and our tutors, Shiva and Sam, have each been charming, charismatic, bright, creative, and best of all...they work great with kids! And we had the opportunity to chat with the Founders of Revolution, Jake and Ramit, and my wife and I were very impressed with their accessibility, candor, sincerity, and understanding of our goals. Our kids were a bit hesitant and reluctant initially to start tutoring, and were initially intimidated that the tutoring sessions were to be conducted online. However, by the end of the first session each of them were (uncharacteristically) enthusiastic, happy, and eager to do their next (and subsequent) sessions. And the results have been great so far...they are enjoying learning and love their time with their tutors. BE AWARE!!!! Scammers cheaters. This is a sales money making online test prep company who will bill you for services never rendered. They scammed me regarding $99/month homework help service that was free because I purchased a packet for test prep in Feb.2020. I said ok but never used the service. In May I realized they had bill me $198 every month without my knowledge. None of it was use and I was just being charged. Now we never started SAT prep due to my daughter's busy schedule and then in March Covid hit and all SAT test sights canceled. Majority of colleges went test optional or test blind. We couldn't even signed up for SAT test even if we wanted to. They are not refunding my account even though we never used the services and Tests are cancelled. I will make sure my kids school knows about this fraud and never uses them. read more

I have to agree with the other reviews. This is a money grab and it's just not worth the money. My son thought it was from the beginning and I didn't believe it. Throwing monthly membership fees without a good explanation and no refunds for the 4 additional hours of tutoring. I purchased it and 2 days later I told the rep that I would like a refund and have my son take the ACT test first. If he doesn't do well then I'll come back and buy the additional 4 hours. They wouldn't give us the refund and I just bought the hours 2 days prior. Really leaves a bad taste in your mouth since the rep that worked with us is very good. read more

Watch out for the monthly membership option they entice you to sign up for with the first month for 1$. Went online to cancel but there is no option to cancel or see any dates etc when next billing is or what you subscribed too. They make it hard to cancel to keep you in the billing agreement. Then when you call you get someone on phone who puts you multiple times on hold and refuses to provide proof of cancellation. Overall this leaves a bad taste in my mouth. If your product was as great as you claim you wouldn't have to play games like this. read more

Terrible!!!! I am a parent from Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School in Brooklyn NY. I paid for Revolution Prep Services on 6/28/2017 with services projected to begin on July 31, 2017. I called revolution prep to cancel on July 3, 2017 and requested a refund. I never received an exam in the mail or a confirmation email of my payment but of course my payment came out of my bank account immediately. I was refunded with a deduction of $100 almost a month later- on July 21, 2017. Can someone explain why I was charged $100 for not using the tutoring service and cancelling within in 5 days? no tutoring or package but charged $100. That's insane and a ripoff!!! read more

Signed my son up for SAT study. Included 12 two hour sessions that would increase his personal best by 100 points. Well final result was that he was 40 points less than his previous best. When I called requesting another session at no charge I was told that it was not possible but they could review his sample test's. Figured my $799.00 investment was just a bad choice. Oh well until I was charged a 99.00 fee for next 3 months on my credit card. I requested a refund for the 99.00 a month subscription fee as we no longer needed their services. They were unable to refund. Perhaps my son is to blame for the less than stellar SAT score but Rev Prep hard stance left a bad taste in my mouth. Princeton Review might be a better option. read more

AMAZING RESULTS! I was recommended to Revolution Prep and used them for SSAT/ISEE test prep and academic tutoring. It has been phenomenal. My daughter has a process disorder and she was matched with the perfect tutor for her needs. The best part, apart from increased grades and scores, is the boost in my daughter's confidence! Terrible, look for another place. They just want your money, and there are just a few good teacher that are over expensive and hard to get. They cancel your classes for some reason and then don't refund them.They do not care about your kids SAT but getting your money. You can get the same help in other companies, much less expensive, and Khan Academy is more effective. read more

Im a student in a school that is using revolution prep to study for the ACT/SAT and the teacher was 5 minutes late to the class and he was in his car driving while he was trying to teach us...(TRYING) We never learn in the class and he gets annoyed for everything. I heavily advise you to not use revolution prep because it does not help at all. They gave us books and he did not tell us to open the book we had to pay for not even once. read more

Revolution has been such a blessing for my kids. My youngest two, ages 7 and 9 (going into 2nd and 5th grade) have been using the online tutoring weekly, revolution math. The tutors each one was assigned have been so fantastic, welcoming, warm, well-versed in working with kids and tutoring on the appropriate math. It's the most amazing resource. We have a set tutoring session every week that my children can do from anywhere. We were recently on vacation on a Monday and it was no problem to get online and complete their weekly session. The lessons are engaging and rewarding, they both have moved along so smoothly. The teachers are genuinely interested in each child's progress and contribution to the lesson. I even receive a weekly email from the tutors with updates about my child, where they excelled where they may need more practice, etc. They both enjoy their tutoring so much they eagerly anticipate Mondays just because of this. And, they get to continue the service through summer to keep them refreshed, which is going to allow them to be even more prepared for their next year in school. I cannot wait for them to open the same online platform for my seventh grader!! I wish I had these resources when I was growing up. One more quick word about the staff behind the scenes. I have worked with several of them. They are responsive, helpful, understanding. Any request I have had has been addressed timely and completely with no followup requirement on my behalf. I could not say enough good things about my experience as a mom with this company. Revolution Prep is great! I've been using it on and off for years and think it always helps my kids improve academically. I have a 9 year old son who worked with an awesome tutor last year to prepare for the Olsat test and not only did he do really well on the test, but he actually looked forward to tutoring. He also spent some time this year working with another amazing tutor on reading comprehension and dramatically improved in class. My daughter who is 11 worked with another fantastic tutor to prepare her for the ISEE and SSAT entrance exams for private school. I love how convenient it is and that the people at Revolution Prep take the time to figure out who your kid is so they can match them with the right tutor. I went with this company to prepare my son for SAT. I was promised an excellent and the same tutor who would have a a personal and consistent approach and an Account Rep who would oversee progress. Account Rep only called when it was time to refill your account with more credits - so they are just Sales Reps who don't care about results. There is no people longevity - both tutor and Account Rep quit within 6 months. My son's score is exactly the same after 1 year with them as it was when we started (he took an SAT when he started almost a year ago and 2 weeks ago before we decided we do not trust this comoany.) No results, no personal approach, no accountability. It's all about $$ - and no results. read more

Boy my boys, ages 6 and 8, do weekly tutoring with Revolution Math. My 6 year old does it for enrichment as he's ahead of his fellow classmates and it has helped to keep him from getting bored. He goes into class feeling empowered and helping out other students by sharing what he learned in his tutoring session. My 8 year old is slightly behind and Rev Math has been a blessing for his confidence. The curriculum seems to be presented at the same time he's learning it in school so it's giving him an opportunity for more attention and help on a topic. He loves going into class feeling like he's got a better grasp on a concept. Best part? It's story based curriculum and they enjoy this way more than the traditional tutoring they've done in the past. I recommended my student to book a tutoring session from Revolution prep's website and it was a huge waste of money. I agree with the previous review that this is a Scam designed to make money off parents who want to prepare their kids for the SAT or any other standardized exam. They advertise that all of their "professional" Tutors score in the top 1% but there is no proof of that. These so-called "Professional Tutors" have all the answer keys to the exams that they go over with students....so it seems to me, that you don't actually have to be an expert in Math to be able to spit out the answers and explanations to a student. The tutors use a method where they limit instruction and have the student do most of the talking, what use is that when we are paying the tutor to give students high quality instruction? My guess is that they are intentionally prolonging the time spent with the student to be able to bill parents a higher amount. It's also very likely that the tutors don't actually know the material well enough to actually teach it. Shady stuff...avoid this place and don't waste your money like we did! My advice is to buy a prep book at Barnes & Noble or hire a Private tutor who is not affiliated with a big for profit company, ask to see their degree and scores, so that you can have a real Professional Tutor preparing your student! read more

There was supposed to be a review class sponsored through my son's high school. We paid the registration fee and the day he showed up, he found that the class had been cancelled but nobody had bothered to notify us. The tutoring was fine. The payment plan was not. We were billed for sessions that we did not ask for. I requested two packages of 6 sessions and my credit card was billed for 3 more! I tried to get a refund, called the company numerous times and each time they were kind and courteous and said they would take care of the problem but each time they did not. Elise is a terrific SAT tutor. My daughter went from a 1410 to a 1520 on the SAT in less than a year. The time and cost were definitely worth it. My daughter received scholarships at each school where she applied. My son is currently working with Elise and really enjoys her approach to something that can be rather tedious! read more
