Came upon this little plant nursery by pure chance, and now I keep coming back! Rewild at Cabin John is cozy little shop with a great selection of house plants! Staff is incredibly well educated on all plants in the store, and everything is separated and labeled for the areas in the home they are best suited for. They will also fill out a care card if you want something more tangible to take home with your plant. I love supporting this business, and try to find something to buy even when I'm not looking to buy a plant. They also run workshops, which I'm hoping to attend at some point! Please do yourself a favor and make this shop part of your go-to list!

I have previously been to Rewild in DC but let's be real, yes DC has the best plant shops but that drive can be a hassle! SO - I was surprised to find out Rewild had a new store in Potomac. I attended the Kokodema workshop with a friend and truly the experience was wonderful. As a plant mom I'm always looking for new plants (that I can't easily kill) to add to my collection. From the moment we walked in the door we were greeted and offered a space to put down purses/jackets, also offered refreshments! Our instructor was amable and very thorough with instructions for the Kokodema. The whole experience was hands on and we even got time after to do some shopping. All of the plants looked so healthy and the instructor was extremely knowledgeable and willing to answer questions. Overall great experience/shop to pick up a new plant!

This place is fantastic!…read more So, I only have a 5' x 9' balcony in my condo in Bethesda on which to garden. In April, I had started some herbs, morning glories, and a San Marzano from seed. They seemed to be really liking the morning, Eastern-facing sunlight they've been provided with, since moving them outside mid-May. To this IPO of a garden, I wanted to add a "pollinator planter". I did a quick search for garden centers in the area, and American Plant popped right up. I made a note in my daily planner to visit, and I'm so glad I did. They made finding what I was looking for so easy! On display was a list of all the native pollinators, categorized by season, and how much light/shade they require. I picked up a coneflower, verbena, aster, bronze fennel, and a New Guinea impatient for good measure, + a 17" terra-cotta planter for about a hundred dollars...insane. Everything looked very healthy, the staff was pleasant/helpful, and it was definitely affordable. Gardening is okay as addictions go, right? You could go to one of those mega-stores (you know what I'm talking about), but they won't have any native species, a helpful staff, and you won't save any money. Do yourself a favor, and plan a trip to American Plant. Maybe I'll see ya there!

If you can't find it here, then it probably should not be in your garden. From the painted pots to the abundance of healthy and beautiful plants, this nursery is awesome. I came here looking for a few items for a landscaping project at my home and found everything I needed. The staff is super helpful and will go out of their way to get you the answers or whatever else you need. Prepare to spend a lot of time looking at the best selection of healthy, well taken care of plants in DMV...imho. If you need an idea of what to do in your outdoor space, this Nursery is the answer. Staff is so helpful and great to talk with! Highly recommend this place!

We attempted to remove some ourselves but were quickly overwhelmed by the task. I researched native plant landscapers and came across Swamp Rose Co-op. After reaching out, Jeff, one of the owners, came to do a site visit. He was thorough in his presentation of plans and this February we had them come and do bamboo removal and plant some native trees and shrubs to act as a privacy screen. The Swamp Rose team was amazing! They pulled out over 2 tons of bamboo and roots! They planted native trees and shrubs which are thriving. Our backyard woodland meadow dreams are coming true. We have the team coming back in a few weeks to rip out the standard plants seen in the Silver Spring area (liriope, lilies, weeds) to replace with a native garden and we can't wait. One of my favorite aspects of this company is it is a co-op. The employees can be owners, and those who aren't are still paid a living wage as calculated by the MIT living wage calculator. They do excellent work! It is hard to find a native landscaper but this team is fantastic.

But I was in need of a few items that I knew I wouldn't easily find elsewhere. Being at the mall, this is just a stone's throw away. I will say, this give the impression from the outside that it is not a big store inside. Deceiving. When I got inside, it is just as big as any other HD, just set up so awkwardly that you have no idea where anything is. What I can tell you is that when you are in here, pull up the app. It will make locating what you want faster and less stressful on you. I knew what I needed, just not where to go. With the app I was able to type in the item and it took me not only to the aisle, but the bay in the aisle where the item was. With my items in hand I go up front to the self serve registers and wait my turn. I walk up, scan my items, and then the machine says I need assistance. It ran out of receipt paper. That fixed, receipt in hand, I on my way home.

To say they have everything is probably accurate. I found the plants that I wanted and some ground cover I didn't know I wanted till I saw it, LOL. Prices were very good. I don't have a lot of comparisons, because where I live near Ft. Meade, there aren't many nurseries nearby. This place is definitely worth the drive for me. Parking is ample, but a little tricky. I mistakenly drove around to the commercial side and had to turn around to get back to the non-commercial area. There were lots of wheeled carts of different sizes. Everything is laid out according to types of plants and their needs - very efficient. I only spoke to three employees, two at some length, and they were so friendly and helpful - big plus for me! I take my business elsewhere if I don't feel welcome. Here's a little oddity that you want to watch out for: GPS kept wanting me to turn onto a side road next to an auto dealership, on the wrong side of Highway 301. (This was coming south from Gambrills/Crofton.) I submitted a correction, but till they fix it be aware the nursery is on the east side of the highway, sort of opposite the auto dealership.
