I have been avoiding coming to a Home Depot for some time. Not for any given reason, just because I didn't want to feel like I was falling into a void. But I was in need of a few items that I knew I wouldn't easily find elsewhere. Being at the mall, this is just a stone's throw away. I will say, this give the impression from the outside that it is not a big store inside. Deceiving. When I got inside, it is just as big as any other HD, just set up so awkwardly that you have no idea where anything is. What I can tell you is that when you are in here, pull up the app. It will make locating what you want faster and less stressful on you. I knew what I needed, just not where to go. With the app I was able to type in the item and it took me not only to the aisle, but the bay in the aisle where the item was. With my items in hand I go up front to the self serve registers and wait my turn. I walk up, scan my items, and then the machine says I need assistance. It ran out of receipt paper. That fixed, receipt in hand, I on my way home. read more

I recently got a quote to replace 10 windows in my home, including installation. The salesperson was knowledgeable, personable, and the Andersen product line they offered is top-tier. I also gathered quotes from two other premium window companies. What surprised me was the price. The Home Depot quote came in about 25% higher than the others for comparable window quality. This was after they applied their 10 percent volume discount. That was disappointing. Somewhere in the process, margins feel inflated. I've been a long-time Home Depot customer, but this experience definitely shook my confidence. My takeaway: don't assume a company that prides itself on delivering value at a fair price automatically offers a good price. Do your due diligence. read more

Needed to duplicate some keys. After talking to their staff, they led me to this self service machine. After touch the screen button, inserted key into the upper slot. After scanning, the screen showed a few pattern designs from $3.97 to $6. The duplicate was made and delivered to the lower slot within one minute. Then went to self checkout and paid. Business model is: you know what you want, you find it yourself, you might find an employee to help, after a while, and that employee might be knowledgeable - but not likely. This happened to me as I searched for a front door lamp with an outlet. They had 50 lamps in their aisle but none of the type I sought. An employee called out for an "electrical associate," but his/her power was likely out & no one came. Amazon is thriving for a reason. read more

Here me out: Home Depot is the Apple Store of hardware stores. First of all, their app is out of this world and lets you select an item and then see where it's located in the store on both a map and via aisle/bin number. Have you ever walked into another hardware store and located a specific type of screw in under 3 minutes? I have. When you're ready to checkout their self checkout is the best I've ever seen and I've been telling this to people for a long time. Why, you ask? There's no prompts for loyalty cards, welcome screens, nothing. You just walk up and scan the first item. You can probably swipe and pay for an item in under 30 seconds. Again, super helpful if you're just coming in for a screw. Here's the big one, the one that earns this place 5 stars. If you walk up to customer service once a month you can sign your kid up for a free Home Depot workshop. These workshops are suspended during Covid but they still give away a free build-your-own toy for kids. In the month of November they gave away a Christmas ornament that my kid had to glue together and in December we got a car to build (hammer required). My kid is obsessed with all things tool related so these little activities are a dream for him. Home Depot really knows how to get kids hooked at an early age! read more

Went in to grab a few items that I needed and decided to grab a Coke Zero. While I was walking out I decided to give it a taste because the last coke I purchased tasted flat. Yes, it tasted flat again, so I went in to get a refund or exchange and the Manager on duty would not exchange or refund because I have already open the bottle. I tried to explain to him that it tasted flat and this is the 2nd time this happen to me. He still would not refund my money or let me exchange for another drink. What can you say about a Home Depot? They are all big-box, low-price stores with mediocre service. This location, due to the small size of the store and parking, is much smaller than other local Home Depot's. Parking is a nightmare on weekends. And now that everybody "works from home", it's also very crowded mid day. My biggest issue with this store, and probably other Home Depot's, is that they now lock up virtually all tools. In order to get a simple $80 tool, you have to track down an employee to open the cage. Not an easy task. This is due to corporate's unwillingness to stop shoplifting. Now that they are too afraid to protect their merchandise from people grabbing it and running out the door, they have resorted to locking everything up, inconveniencing their paying customers. read more

I love Home Depot, full stop. And this one is convenient (Beltway traffic notwithstanding) and good for basic stuff (good paint section). But the parking lot is terrible and the layout is somewhat confusing. The seasonal section is haphazard and it can be challenging to get help sometimes. They installed self service checkout kiosks, which I personally like, although it's frustrating to have to wait when someone decides to try those for the first time when they have a zillion things in their cart and no idea what they're doing. read more

I came because I wanted some storage bins. I laugh at myself for thinking that I really think I'll get organized. On Friday morning I received an email from Home Depot that an order I made online the week before and was supposed to be delivered that day, had been cancelled. NO EXPLANATION why it was canceled. I called their 1800 number and eventually thr representatives said it was canceled because 1 item was out if stock. They waited till the same day as delivery to tell me! I asked to be transferred to the Bethesda store to see if they could help me find similar items I had a contractor coming the next day and I had flown up from Florida to take care of this project. The Betheada store had the other item I ordered in stock. Later that day I ordered a bathroom vanity and asked the store manager if they could waive the delivery fee since Home Depot service had been lousy that morning with the canceled order. I was told NO. I managed to pick up the vanity with a friend who has a minivan. We got it home and saw that the doors don't meet properly and the back was coming apart. Cheap particle board! We brought it back that night and Sarah who works the customer service desk assisted me. She was the one bright star at Home Depot. My how Home Depot has changed on the customer service front. Being from Atlanta, I'm somewhat forgiving of them since they're my "hometown" company. Yet this location, along with countless others, has gone from a customer service helper every aisle to having to chase people for business they could easily earn. Little ownership to tackle customer issues, and lots of pass offs to others - others who never seem to show up. Home Depot, you lost easy business today for a major home improvement job...all because you never would get someone to the door section when someone was requested twice. Outdoor Garden Center decline. High prices, poor quality and care. Seems like the place where plants come to die if not purchased soon after delivery! Plants don't look to be watered adequately or correctly. They are stuffed into shelving often located in places that are not suitable. So if you decide to risk it you end up buying a plant that is both over priced and stressed. Even some of the people working that area comment that they wouldn't buy a lot of the plants because of this. Guess that raises questions about why they don't do anything to improve it. But really just seems like very poor management. I've shopped here for several years and a number of times this planting season. It is pretty much the same poor quality and care. This is combined with the jacked up prices. I'm not going to bother anymore and wouldn't recommend. read more

This Home Depot is really hit or miss. I would say more so leaning towards the "hit" but I've gone there and have received, lets just say, less then optimal help. The kind of help that says, - go over and look it up on the computer- ( not the soaring level of customer service that they're probably going for). I do have to say on my most recent trip- the gentlemen who helped me in the lumber section was AWESOME. Just one of the friendliest people you'll find. It kinda reminded me or a neighbor coming over and advising me on a project. He was like , "whatcha buildin". And then I told him about how this is the first time I've ever bought lumber and how I was really confused. I also told him that I knew I didn't want particle board. 'Cause particle board=crappy fall apart wood. He was able to point me in the right direction, all friendly-like , no pressure and guide me to the right type of lumber I wanted. That guy is awesome! Home Depot would be smart to replicate him and just fill all the stores with him. Or at least make him a manager or customer service liaison. When you have a store that big with that many employees, it just becomes so difficult to operate. You need a REALLY strong leader for all of those employees. It's not only hard to manage the employees, can you imagine managing the stock of Home Depot. My lord! They're more types of bolts in that store then countries in the world. The greatest thing about this Home Depot as compared to the one in Gaithersburg is simply parking. The parking is so much easier - not being in a cramped underground structure. That is the main reason while I'll continue to frequent this hidden/ mildly less cramped Home Depot. read more

Horrible service! 1. I ordered a kitchen window from Timothy in the summer for 6000 USD. Now the next HD associate (Kevin) tells me that they made a design mistake and ordered two separate windows instead of one with two wings. Of course it's installed and too late. 2. Kevin ordered two more windows (don't ask me why I did that ... ) and then put them out for bid. After waiting for an hour he said he would call me on the same day or the next day, but of course he never did. I just called and stayed in the loop for 20 minutes listening to the tape telling me how important this call is ... and how they know that for PRO clients time is valuable. The irony is biting! STAY AWAY. This is not the first time. This place needs a serious management overhaul. After 5 failed phone calls and 10 days waiting we had to drive to HD again, and instead of an apology we got attitude and excuses. No Manager was available to talk to. STAY AWAY. You can't hardly find anything, the outdoor garden area is a monstrosity, there's not enough room to walk, cars are just trying to run people over, all the supplies and pitting soils and etc are all inside... So you are going inside and outside and back and forth, they literally only have self checkout and the self checkout areas are so small that getting out you have to wait for the person in front of you to get done and forget any kind of curbside pickup... I spent an hour getting carpeting staff to write up an order so we could get the estimate for the carpeting I picked out for our offices and paid the $35. After getting it all measured we were informed that the carpet we picked out (25 year warranty) is not for commercial spaces and "Be aware that the carpets that qualify for commercial offices are thin and firm. This is due to commercial carpets being specifically made to be resistant to high traffic areas." Our offices are in a townhouse and we are only 15 people so there is no high traffic. It seems ridiculous that the plush carpet that we have had for 30 years cannot be replaced with similar carpet. The staff is not properly trained. Very disappointing. Trying to speak to a manager has been impossible. read more

Awful experience - even dealt with the store manager. I had a receipt to return an unopened product that was 2 days beyond their 90-day return policy. They said they could only give store credit, which I said was fine. They run your local driver's license only to be rejected for a reason they can't explain. At the very least, tell me why its been denied and and untrained staff can't even do that. Lowe's is so much more willing to work with you under whatever the circumstance. This Home Depot is hot garbage for contractors. The GM of this location should be ashamed of the store they are running. The issues are endless from the moment pull Into the tight parking lot that barely accommodates pickups or work vehicles it's always jammed. I have yet to walk inside and see the plumbing section in any kind of order , parts all misplaced stuff scattered all Over the floor and then you try and get help to get a box off the top and it's a ghost town to find someone to grab a ladder. It's so bad that I went and got a folding ladder from the shelf and grabbed the box I needed after asking for help for 30 minutes. It's fine for a DYI person but if you are a contractor save your time and drive to another location. read more

The customer service based in Atlanta has been super helpful in getting touch with the store with our concerns. The problem is mainly with this particular store, after no shows, no calls back and having service technicians late for appointments, the fridge did get the water line fixed after four days. If you try calling the store they will keep bouncing you around to non available managers on duty, Hassan, Mike etc, whose shifts seems to change every five minutes or who are on lunch break at 6pm. The floor however is still damaged, it took 2 weeks to get an assessor from Home Depot , who was supposed to be with the service technicial who can to fix the water line. The assessor didn't know why he was there, or what to do but clearly admitted there was water damage from the fridge water line. I now have a bouncy warped floor in a newly purchased home, and will have an independent contractor fix the floor. Home Depot is usually a great store but don't have this location provide any installation or service for you. read more
