(We had our home built in 1970 and needed these upgrades for both maintenance and lifestyle reasons, including making it safer and user-friendly for my elderly mother.) And honestly, the company and the owner helped rebuild my openness to trust contractors and taught me something about the potential goodwill of strangers (after an experience with another contractor who had misrepresented himself as licensed, threatened me, cost my family thousands of dollars, and destroyed one of our bathrooms). After an initial phone conversation, the owner of Renovec came to our house himself and underbid the lowest estimate we'd gotten for the work. He assigned a project manager to the job and a subcontractor, both of whom he was continually in contact with, and he, the PM, and the owner of the subcontracting firm were all invested in ensuring that my family and I were satisfied with the work and progress. When unexpected scenarios came up (as may happen with multi-faceted jobs, especially with an older home), Renovec did not create change orders but rather came up with innovative, responsible, and aesthetically pleasing solutions that the company implemented at cost. For instance, they reversed the egress direction of a door and replaced it with two half doors to make the limited laundry-room space work, and the owner himself, who is skilled at plumbing, came onsite to create a multi-layered insulation approach to make an outside wall work for plumbing. The PM always picked up the phone when I called or called me back within a few minutes in response to any question or concern I had, and the owner was also responsive, even though it was clear that the company was not making top dollar on this job. They were just honorable in addition to being skilled. More than once, someone from Renovec told me that they wanted me and my mother to be happy with the work. From my experience, Renovec is a company that takes pride in what they do and cares about the people they are doing it for. And now I have my dream bathroom and upstairs laundry, which I would not have imagined I would've been able to afford right now, a safe home for my mother to age in place, and a house that is on its way to not only being restored but also luxuriously enhanced. It was a full gut -- complete renovation with new everything: lighting, heated flooring, vanity, tub with handheld shower, and more. I took bids for the contract for my rental property and invited Ascensions to participate. I had got as many as 6 bids. I had a couple bids that was just so low that I had to consider that sometimes going cheap isn't the correct way because I had a deadline and had to have good quality of work to get my house on the market with a good price. So I decided to not take the gamble and go cheap and slow. So I decided to go with Ascension for a couple of reasons. One reason is because I had a good customer service experience with Ascension Home Contractors before. The confusion was on how the tiles was to be laid on the Salon floor with stencils or not. Well after half the ceramic floor was already set and pasted on the 1200 sqft. floor. It didn't look like the way I wanted. So I told Jimmy the owner that I didn't like it. Without an augment as I expected from many. Jimmy gathered his team the next day and picked up about 600 sqft. ceramic tile and reinstalled it the way I wanted. The second reason is that Ascension is like a one stop shop. They do everything. They will project management for you so you do not have to stress and find other contractors. If you need junk removal, house cleaning, tree cutting, or anything related. Ascensions have the resources to get the job done the right way and fast. Yeah I paid more of the top end for Ascension but I had peace of mind and got the job done the right way with out the worry that someone may do a bad job or run off with my money. I had a few Handymen that does work that was not insured or licensed. So be careful about that. Those are the people that may not have a big team but will give you a lower price and you will just have to take a gamble with. Ascensions is License and Insured and it is a reason why you have to pay a premium when you want good work done with good customer service. So this is why I would recommend Ascensions Home Contractors for your home or business. I had FGS requote this year. FGS was slightly more expensive than the other quotes we got, but came recommended by my roofer and had good reviews. They also seemed to understand what I wanted better than the other companies I got quotes from, so I went with them on the deck job. They were able to start the project when I wanted them to and were done in a couple weeks. I also had them repair the woodwork on my house around the deck and repair an outlet that wasn't working (for an extra cost). After completion, the deck and other work look great and everything functions as new. I am very pleased and finally started using my deck for some outdoor griddling this past weekend. FSG did a great job and I would be very happy to use them again for other projects!
