Underwhelming. The venue reminded me of Vegas in a formulaic way. Our server was inattentive, and super rushed whenever she did make it to our table- which at this price point, is unacceptable. The apps we ordered, the grilled artichokes and shrimp cocktail were excellent. Re: the entrees, almost everything is à la carte, even so, my sea bass was delivered without the potatoes it was supposed to come with. IMHO, WAY overpriced for the food and experience. We recently had a bon voyage celebration for a friend who was heading back to Turkey. We had already eaten at another restaurant, but decided to stop at this establishment afterward for dessert. We were told they had a rooftop patio, so we were looking forward to checking it out. When we arrived, no one asked whether we wanted to sit inside or outside. We were told there was a rooftop - We assumed the patio was enclosed, so the six of us sat inside.. Our server, Jessica, came to the table with menus, and we explained that we were only there for dessert. That's when her entire demeanor changed. She became noticeably unfriendly, unwelcoming and, quite frankly, rude. Having spent years as a manager in hospitality myself--working for upscale hotels, opening a couple of properties, as well one fine-dining restaurant in Detroit--I pay attention to these things. I was watching Jessica's body language and interaction with our table, and I was honestly appalled. If I hadn't been with my friends, I probably would have left. At one point, Jessica came to the table and asked, "Are you all done?" Rather than saying something like, "May I bring you anything else?" or "Can I get you anything else tonight?" she simply said she would bring the check! And this was around 3:00 in the afternoon--we certainly weren't taking up a busy dinner table. Then something interesting happened. One of our friends picked up the check and left a nice tip. Suddenly, Jessica's entire demeanor changed. She became friendly, social, smiling and charming. Interesting how quickly that happened. I will say that the other staff members we encountered were professional, pleasant and friendly. Just wish the host would have asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside. Unfortunately, the interaction with Jessica overshadowed what could have been a much nicer experience. As someone who has worked in hospitality and understands the importance of customer service, I have to say: Every guest deserves to be treated with the same level of professionalism--whether they are ordering a full meal or simply stopping in for dessert. Ambience of this place is awesome. Perfect for a girls night or elevated date night. I was not blown away by the main courses, I got the salmon. However, the appetizer selection and drinks were great! We loved the charcuterie board and the chips with caviar. read more

My pros outweigh my cons. So that's why it's 5 star. This was probably the best metro Detroit food I've had in a minute. I went for my birthday. The service is exceptional. Nothing stays on your table too long. Waiter was very knowledgeable & confident about the menu. Finished everything I ate. I felt satisfied. Not full and uncomfortable. The waiter gave me a free dessert and added my candles lol. Salmon doesn't need the lemon. The lemon takes away from the original flavor of the salmon. Thankfully the salmon was almost done before we tried a piece with lemon. The steak is falling off the bone good. So juicy and tender. Fries taste like they're from McDonald's. Can't wait to come back and try something else! I didn't care for the drinks. They're strong as hell (which is why I didn't mark down, ppl like that lol), and the Caesar was boring BUT those croutons are TOO good (another reason I couldn't mark down lol). read more

We had a reservation for 1:30 PM today at the Restoration Hardware restaurant in Birmingham. We arrived at the building at 1:40 parking was extremely difficult, and then we waited over 10 minutes just to get on the elevator. We reached the hostess stand at 1:46. The hostess told us they had given our table away and the next available reservation was 3:15 PM. We were told we were late, one minute past their grace period. Honestly, I could have lived with them giving the table away. What I won't tolerate is the poor customer service. There was not an ounce of empathy or professionalism, no attempt to problem-solve, no acknowledgment that we drove an hour to get there, just a cold, pretentious attitude that felt completely unnecessary. We left and went to The Capital Grille instead. They were packed, we didn't have a reservation, and they still seated us right away with a smile. Capital Grille for the win. read more

I would not even consider going to this garbage of a place. The hostess is very rude and degrading. Literally will tell people to their face that " sorry tables are being deep cleaned and will be wet for hours". It was not busy, many open tables. After saying the app says there are many open reservations now, what if I go in and make it. She states reservations do not mean anything and they would refuse customers. All because of having two babies. This is what the company stands behind, I'm disgusted by not only this hostess but it's not an isolated incident. The food is overpriced. Tried the RH restaurant last night. THE GOOD: - Beautiful room. Albeit, a bit hotel-ish/institutional feeling. - Gorgeous flatware and stemware. - Caesar salad is the best I've ever had. Our server said the dressing was vinegar based, rather than creamy. Loved it! I personally hate croutons - so predictable. But these were crunchy, cheesy, perfect in the salad. - Grilled shrimp appetizer. Perfectly prepared and seasoned, and awesome with the salad. - French fries. Shoestring style, crispy, hot, and the accompanying ketchup and aioli were good, if not a little obvious. - Grilled broccolini was perfectly cooked and charred. - My espresso at the end of the meal was smooth, not bitter, though I would have liked it a bit hotter. - Lively atmosphere, but we were still able to have a conversation. - Patrons were a well-heeled crowd. I know appearance is totally superficial. But beautiful clothes, jewelry, grooming, etc. still enhances the experience for me when eating at an upscale eatery. - Didn't catch the name of our server. But she was exceptional! - Expensive but didn't feel overpriced. THE NOT SO GOOD: - My salmon was a bit overcooked, a bit under-seasoned. Really could have used a sauce - even something as predictable as a lemon beurre blanc. - My daughter's French Rotisserie Chicken was dry and uninspired. The au jus that it sat in was minimal. Real French Rotisserie chicken has a crisp, salty, garlicky skin over moist, tender, NEVER DRY meat. This dish could also have really benefitted from a yummy sauce. NOTE: the pomme puree that came with the chicken was TO DIE FOR!! - My other daughter's beef dip sandwich was fine. Nothing unusual or craveable, (If you want the ultimate beef dip sandwich, go to Philippe's in L.A.) She had a twice baked potato with it, which was exceptional. - My wife's whole grilled Branzino was tasty. But I always find it a bonus if a restaurant offers to get rid of the head and filet it. Not an option here. We would most likely return, maybe for lunch this summer when we could sit outside on the lovely balcony. Upon calling the manager she said , no problem , I don't know why they said no. We found out later that 3 couples left that table before us- it was too cold. Salmon and lamb chops were good. I wish they didn't have a difference in member prices, but they do. I have only ever purchased my LED Christmas trees from here, a cigar leather chaise and a low profile rustic coffee table. They are heavy pieces, no matter what they are here. Their presence is felt when lifting them even. I aspire to one day buy my favorite gun metal wrapped bedroom set with the night stands, dresser, headboard and footboard and the tall boy. I will be getting this fantastic, beautiful and sleek and beyond cool design in the near future. All of their items from the picture frames, nightstands, coffee tables, dining tables to hallway armoires are solidly built. One day soon I hope to have a showcase house filled with RH items. I once loved this chain, because they had unique retro items that could not be found elsewhere. It was founded by an historic home owner, Stephen Gordon, in Eureka, CA in 1979. While restoring a Victorian home he became frustrated at being unable to find affordable, high-quality hardware and fixtures to use in his restorations - so he began recreating them himself. This was the company I first came to, and appreciated - and this is not the company it is now, sadly. Once very driven by domestic products, they now indicate that 65% of the company's products come from overseas, particularly from contract manufacturers in southern China - like every other cookie-cutter high-end wanna be company. While furniture was part of their line, it was NOT the only thing, and it definitely wasn't knock-off items made in China. Now it seems to have become a wanna be high end furniture/design store that bears no resemblance to the cool, unique entity it once was - which is quite sad I must say. read more

My issue is with the quality of the product I bought. I bought the aero marble table. 6 months later bits of the matt finish came off revealing shiny marble. Apparently the matt finish was sprayed on and must be very fragile. I live alone and seldom sit at the dining table. I called RH and they read to me the care instructions, only water and maybe soap could be used. Admittedly, once I used some marble polish. The customer services said I was on my own with this. I want consummers to know that this product must be very fragile and unrealistic as a dining table. I found a marble expert who was shocked that the matt finish was sprayed on. The only good news is that I will be able to remove this with acetone and then seal my shiny table. read more

I ordered a full bedroom set and bathroom about two years ago. My end tables have worn really bad and now need to be replaced. I use a damp cloth to clean all my furniture as we don't use chemicals. They claim my furniture is wearing because I use a damp cloth and you should be wiping it with a dry cloth only. Funny I clean the outer drawers and my dresser with the same damp cloth and they are just fine. RH charges an awful lot for their furniture and then does not stand behind it. read more

Absolutely terrible company as a whole, I was employed here for a month as a delivery assistant and never received payment at all, then was let go for no actual reason at all. Everyone of their drivers smoke weed and drive like it's not a legal issue and half the time they never sent the appropriate amount of movers and in a result of that leads to a lot of broken products. This entire company should be considered a laughingstock and nothing more, and I personally would rather buy furniture from Gardner White, than from these crooks and certainly can't wait to see the stock of this company fall in time as their company gets whipped out of existence read more

I was looking for a specific type of floor lamp and this is the only place I could find it. The prices are very expensive and I was hesitant about spending the amount I paid. (1) They have two prices on every item. The "member" price and regular price. To become a member, you must pay for a membership for $100.00 per year. (2) The two prices on each and every ticket, IS NOT the price you pay. Unless your buy some specific bedding, everything is shipped in. The only merchandise they have on-hand is some very limited bedding. Here's the kicker: You pay the shipping charges even if the item is delivered to the store! My shipping charge for a small floor lamp was $35.00 dollars. Really, I'm not sure how legal it is to advertise a price, and with the exception of sales tax, pay more? My merchandise was just ordered so I have not received it yet. I must say, after reading the comments on this site, I'm concerned about the delivery process. I'll keep you posted. read more

Went into the store twice now. Once to window shop but ended up liking a bedroom set. After looking at other stores and deciding we wanted the full bedroom set, we went back to purchase. We were in the store almost 15 minutes and got completely ignored by over 5 associates that passed by us. There were 3 associates just standing in the room over talking to each other, so it's not like they were even understaffed and all with customers. Like many, I was drawn in to RH's unique product which is also pretty high quality. I have come to learn though that all the energy they put into their product comes at a sacrifice to their customer service. I went in recently looking to majorly invest in my home. I got a bunch of great ideas, and thought "you know what, I may as well pick up those 8 napkins". - I purchased product that I was later told was in store, but the employee didn't know that so it was shipped, and I wasn't told there was going to be a shipping fee which I found there was when I got home and checked my email. A substantial amount of time passed without the product showing up. I called and RH told me it was my fault because UPS tried to deliver but I was un-deliverable. I called UPS and they said RH had made a shipping slip but had never given them a product to ship. RH apologized and offered me a 20% off coupon and free shipping. So I reordered the product, then realized that RH had just started a 20% off store-wide sale so they actually didn't offer me anything for my 2 months wasted time except for free shipping. I had expected to spend around 15k at RH, but after having that experience I went to Potter Barn instead and spent my money there. also... what is the point of having employees walk around with Ipads making my shipping order for me, when I can make my own order from my own Ipad and I don't have to worry about the employee screwing everything up? I think everyone loves Restoration Hardware, regardless of their personal taste in decor. The store is cozy and beautiful, with gorgeous tones of slate gray, espresso and white. Restoration Hardware stocks pieces that are large, industrial inspired and warm- as the name indicates. The staff is the perfect blend of "leave-you-alone" and helpful. I just bought a couch and three light fixtures here, all rang up on an Ipad while I lounged in a big, comfy chair. I like this new POS trend. They recently revamped the stores diplays, featuring more beautiful lights, crystal chandeliers, white covered furniture and plush, luxxe rugs. I will be rug shopping for at least one or two rooms here this week. Anyone who enjoys interior design should stop by here, even if just to look. read more

I have ordered 2 times from this store, the first time was about the worst delivery experience possible. I am 4 months into the order and am still waiting on an in stock chair (not custom) that was supposed to be delivered 3 months ago. We took a risk and ordered another order (sofa, chairs, tables, etc) because the furniture is nice *but over priced and ordered again. We are only a couple of days into the order and the process has been terrible. One of the female managers and our sales representative told us they did not know how input a particular order so we should call the customer service number on how to do it. The customer service team basically laughed at the conversation and told us the order could only be done in the gallery and the manager should clearly be able to process the order. We were in the gallery and they did not know how to do it. We have spent hours in that store wasting our time and will not do it again. If you want to buy things on hand that you can bring home right away, the store would work. But anything above and beyond that I would not recommend. The staff gives you positive answer but then does not come through. Great furniture but you only live once and it is not fun going home upset with how poorly the team does not know how to run the backend. read more

My wife and I bought our first house and were looking for a coffee table and rug to go with our custom sofa set we ordered from Leon and Lulu. We are on the younger side in age (28 years old) and could tell we were being judged as just that. In their eyes, we were young and couldn't afford anything here, thus did not want to help. Employees were walking around not doing anything, however, did not get a single greeting out of them, not even a simple "hi". We actually found something we really liked, and were willing to pay the outrageous price for it, but could not get help from anyone. All the employees were all stuck up and snobby. Do not buy from here if you need it delivered. They only deliver between 12-4 and refuse to deliver after that. They use a contract company for delivery who are very rude and inconvenient. When I call RH to let them know they seem to care less. I already had a table that was set up wrong then when they repaired it a screw was poking out the top! and now to replace it they want me to take another day off work? I have always loved Restoration Hardware's furniture and ordered from them for the first time a few months ago. I ordered a bed, dresser, nightstand, and bedding. The furniture got delivered last week but when my bed was delivered the wood slates that my mattress lays on were missing. It has now been 2 weeks and customer service and the store manager have still not been able to tell me when the bed slates will be delivered and how they will be remedying this problem. I am currently sleeping on the floor with my mattress next tot he bed frame and literally have no space to even walk in my bedroom. One would think they could make a simple phone call to the warehouse or distributed and request that wood slates shipped to me but apparently they provide common sense solutions. I have made over 10 phone calls and sent multiple emails over 2 weeks and am still waiting on an answer. I would never order from this company again. read more

I went in looking for cabinet hardware that I had seen on the RH website and received excellent customer service from Travis. He assisted me with my selection and then let me know that by spending another $200, I could save $100 on my purchase (without making me feel pressured to do so!) Travis took care of ordering the pieces that I needed and waived shipping charges since they were typically in-stock items. When I realized later that I needed some additional handles, I called and spoke with Travis and he once again took care of my order in the same manner. I ordered 4 dining chairs in mid-November 2012. When I placed my order, RH required that I have them shipped to my house, as opposed to picking them up from the store. Since November 2012, I've suffered through SEVEN back-and-forth shipments and still only have three out of four chairs in my possession. (It is now May 18, 2013). I've been forced to return the other chairs due to a variety of reasons including scratched finish; incorrect finish; broken legs; splintered, gouged, and/or cracked wood. Furthermore, this company has sent me the wrong chairs and has overcharged me during various transactions regarding the return and shipment of these chairs. - I recently wrote the company (again) to see when I'd be receiving my 8th shipment. I received a curt correspondence saying that it would not be shipped until late July 2013. Customer service was initially polite, but unhelpful: They are all talk, but no action. Now, my 'special customer service representative,' is ignoring my correspondences. After the third return, all of the customer service representatives told me that I'd be compensated for my trouble. That was a total lie. Regardless of how cool the furniture looks, it is NOT worth your time, money and hassle to order from this company. Not only have I wasted money on the cost of the chairs, through this process I've had to take off seven days of work just so that I could be here to receive these chairs. And, yes, I'm still waiting on the fourth chair, which will be my EIGHTH shipment. read more

Above and Beyond! I recently moved from CA to MI and had quite a few unopened boxes of drapery rods and accessories from RH that I had bought some years ago. The rods did not fit my new house so I took them back hoping RH would have mercy on me and do an exchange for the correct sizes that I needed. Well of course I had no receipts but that did not deter the staff at RH, especially Nicole. She took back all the merchandise and said that she would research the RH records to find out what I had paid for them. Within a week I had a full credit for all that I had returned, and the new drapery rods were on their way to me! This is quite simply an example of excellent CS and it has won the lifetime loyalty of a customer. I have been into Restoration Hardware a few times in the past month or so. I had some good experiences and some bad ones!! I needed to furnish my living and dining spaces. My first experience was with Trevor. He seemed like he wanted to be somewhere else. He spoke down to me and seemed to be irritated when I asked a question. I acted as if I needed to leave and walked right out! I didn't need to be spoken to like a child. I thought I would give this store one more shot since I truly love the furniture. The second time I entered the store I was able to browse around before being approached by Barb. She was very nice but already had a customer so she needed to help them. I was then welcomed by Sam. He was very approachable and funny. I instantly knew we would get this space done before I left. I was with Sam for a good hour and a half but I never noticed the time. He was so knowledgable and for some reason I found myself trusting his judgment and design for my home. We were approached by a British woman multiple times asking if we were ok and what we were working on. It was very annoying and seemed to distract me from the progress we were making. Regardless, Sam has made a customer for life out of me! I look forward to working with Sam for many years to come! read more

Poor processing procedure. Why have salespeople? Order $4500 worth of furniture my credit card was processed by a processing center (not the salesperson) 5 hours later. One credit card transaction for shipping, one for the membership and one for furniture. Of course credit card red flagged. Notified by email from the processing company not by phone. 5 phone calls to RH processing and Visa and found out processing center entered in wrong address. I politely cancelled after that. NOBODY CARED! Received a survey I explained I sadly canceled due to zero communication. Oh sorry, we will let our team know. Again....$4500 furniture order who cares!!! ( we also considered ordering a $5500 couch) I can hardly imagine if I had an issue with my furniture. Here is some advice to RH management - put your sales team on COMMISSION and let the store handle the orders and processing. Zero motivation for customer service in your stores -again shocked no phone call from store manager or salesperson. I should have listened to my own advice...deal with a local MICHIGAN business. I give one star to Restoration Hardware today due to the fact that one item I purchased today at the Troy, Michigan store was marked one price and when scanned on the computer it came up as another. It was a soap dish which was marked as $16 and scanned at $20 with a 25% reduction. When I pointed this out to Margarte G., sales person, she stated that I was still saving $1. I told her that this was not the point--it was misrepresentation. She acted like she did not have a clue of what I was speaking about and called the manager over who repeated her line--that I was still getting $1 off. I told them they needed to honor the sticker price but they refused, so due to time constraints on my part, I completed the purchase. This is not the first time I have encountered rude and arrogant sales people. It must start at the top! I suppose they do not realize that this attitude does not bode well for their future.
