Beautiful venue that is hidden in west town of Chicago Learnt about their specialization in fruit brandy today! From the tasting room, you can see those machines and barrels they use for production Secret garden with la Normande is very good!

-Another fun distillery tour to do in Chicago! I like that this is a smaller distillery company, it's nice to see a different aspect compared to some of the larger distillery tours. They said it is about a 5 employee operation which includes the bar staff. -Prices: The tour and drinks were very reasonable prices. Most drinks were $8-$9 -Plenty of street parking nearby if you want to drive -Nice variety of drinks on their menu -I had the drink clear as day - which sounded not very appealing but it was actually a very refreshing drink. I also ordered the hot toddy which was decent. -Tour guide and staff were all very friendly and informative.

I had the Rhine Hall Old Fashioned made with apple Brandy and it was. I would go back to try another Old Fashioned! #goodoldfashionedchicago

The Hound Street and a spirit flight

Right by United Center! Stopped by before the Blink-182 show and the cocktails were so tasty. My friend had a spirit flight- the brandies are strong but very interesting. Staff was super friendly and knowledgeable too. It's literally a 10 minute walk from United Center so definitely recommend if you need something to do before a concert or game. No food but they were totally cool with us bringing our own stuff.

I came with a large group for a bachelorette party and had a marvelous time! The bar is beautifully designed with simple and clean decorations, an old exercise bike that's perfect for pictures, a large entryway that's open to the quiet tree-lined street, and a view into the production area. We went for a cocktail class and kicked things off by trying the Free Parking cocktail - a refreshing lemon-forward cocktail with apple brandy. We then got a tutorial from Mark, that evening's bartender, and after learning some handy tricks of the trade made our own Free Parking. I've never made my own shaken cocktail before but felt like a pro - no spilling and I was able to crack the shaker open in one try. Mark was a great host and was charming as all heck. He gave us all a shot of oak aged apple brandy to toast the bride-to-be with and was kind enough to be our photographer. I wasn't a fan of the oak aged apple brandy in shot form (so raisin-y), but the regular version was super tasty in our cocktail. It would have been nice to have a little variety between our welcome cocktail and the one we made - we thought we got to try three different cocktails and while I loved the lemony goodness there were a few ladies who didn't make their own because they didn't enjoy their first drink enough to finish it. All in all, though, it was a great time and I'm glad we got to do something hands on while getting to know each other a little better!

Good Brandy drinks and tours! A decent date night idea. It's off the beaten path a little bit. The customer service is so so and if your not into Brandy you may not like it. The drinks are good not great.

    Small tasting room and bar

I came here after buying a voucher through gilt city for a tour and drinks. I had been wanting to visit for a while. Although I have never really been a brandy fan I think that has changed. The tour is not really that exciting since the distillery is only about 1 room. If you have been on other distillery tours there isn't much extra to be learned. We were toured by one of their brand ambassadors/bartender Sarah and she did an excellent job. The tasting room is quite small with a bar and 3 additional tables. When we first arrived there were no seats available. Bar service was very friendly, but you need to be forward if you want service when it is busy. The mixed drinks were great. Also wanted to try the draft cocktail- was brandy with Apple cider when we were there. Was able to try the tasting flight for extremely reasonable $10, and it is a great way to decide which flavors you like best. Parking is free on the street. A nice way to spend an afternoon or evening.

We booked a private class here for a bachelorette party and we had a great time. We started right on time and did a tour of their facility. The tour guide / mixologist was very knowledgeable and the story of the distillery was really cool to hear, and the pride of being a small business really came through. The class itself was fun - we learned what all the tools were, how to properly pour a recipe, etc while sampling product and eventually our drinks. We were given plenty of time to chat with each other and the pace of the class felt good. I would highly recommend as a private event, and really hope to return for a cocktail sometime when I'm in town!!

Really creative cocktails, unusual wines, great snack list (and the complimentary olives and cheese made us able to stay longer add have another round!). I love the decor and overall vibe--classy, French-y, fun not stuffy. Great on your own, with a date, a small group. Special shout out to Hannah but everyone we interacted with was great.

I ordered the horchata 2 ways cocktail which was $12 for haply hour and is typically $16. $12 is the highest amount for a happy hour cocktail that I have ever paid and I dont think it was worth it. The 1st sip was good but it was a very sweet drink and I was over it by the end. The drink also was half a very heavy cream so when you drank it you were drinking the liquid but not getting much of the cream. So you either had to lick the cream off the top or drink on the liquid and then either leave the cream or somehow scoop it out with your tongue so not really a well conceived cocktail. One of the fun and unique things about the bar is they bring out free tapas every once in a while similar to bars in Spain. They brought out edamame to the people at the bar right around 5pm and a group next to me asked at around 530pm if more tapas would come out and the bar person said the come out every 45 mins. I was there til around 630pm and another round of tapas never came out so do not expect that if you go. They did not give you water unless you specific ask for it which I though was odd, I heard 3 groups besides myself at the bar who had to ask for water, especially since this is supposed to be a nice cocktail bar and this is just one of my pet peeves but the water did not contain ice and was closer to room temperature which is not how I enjoy my water. Despite not being super crowded I had to ask for the check from 2 different people and it took 15 mins for them to bring it so if it is crowded I expect they will have pretty slow service. They do bring you a fortune cookie woth your check where you can potentially win a discount on your check or other prizes which is fun. Unfortunately the fortune cookie tastes a bit stale. I would say that this place is not worth it for happy hour but it had a cool but very dark vibe in there so it might be good for a romantic date depending on how good the food is.

With mixology being all the rage for the last 20+ years, I almost feel like it's hard to come up with a new drink concept these days. Truce shows that creativity in the world of booze is alive and well, and I count myself lucky to have had a taste. The 'Peas + Carrots' was a surprise win. Scotch, blanco tequila, sochu, carrot, snap pea, ginger, and kukicha. Sounds bizarre as hell, but it absolutely works. I also had a 'Final Say,' a spin on a classic featuring gin, clementine, fino, galliano, turmeric, black pepper, and lemon. The 'I Can't Believe It's Beer' has everything from mezcal and rooibos tea to guava and an aperitivo. I could ramble on about their menu, but I'd say just check Truce out yourself. You get what I'm saying. Their creative juices are clearly flowing, and they switch the menu up seasonally. They have some light bites too, but I really recommend them for cocktails and coffee. I wouldn't come here for dinner. They do drinks, so come here to drink. Plenty of very savvy-sounding N/A options, too. It's sleek, intimate, sexy, relaxed, and fun. Come through at 8 AM for a cocktail, roll through at 11 PM for a coffee, there's no judgment here. I'll be keeping an eye on Truce.
