Complete with phones ringing and nurses talking loudly and with very bright lights shining down into my eyes. There were only 2 people in the ER. It was a Sunday evening and there was only 1 doctor in the entire ER. Finally after an hour I got an examination room and an hour later the doctor came in. Mumbled a few things , did a quick exam and left. I got nothing for pain. The room was cold and no blanket was offered. He looked like he didn't want to be there. The call light worked but nobody came and I needed a urinal bad. The TV remote was not working and I was told that other remotes didn't work either in some of the other rooms. 2 hours later still nothing. I finally left my bed and went to the nurses station and I told her to call me an ambulance as I wanted to leave. She said that I couldn't leave and to go back in my room and that's when I asked her if there was only 1 doctor available for the entire ER. She didn't even answer me verbally but nodded her head indicating that there was only 1 doctor available. Once I got back in the cold room without a blanket a new patient was brought in on a stretcher. She was having some kind of mental crisis and was screaming at the top of her lungs. Wouldn't you know that they rolled her stretcher right at the entrance to my room and left her there. It went on for about 2 more hours. My labs had come back and I was out of range for my blood level ( I'm on a blood thinner) so the nurse gave me a vitamin K pill to swallow and a ginger ale and she was pleasant and asked if I wanted a blanket and I asked her for a urinal. The patient that was brought in screaming had still not received the attention of a doctor. My nurse asked if I wanted the glass door closed due to the loud patient in front of my room. This was at around 10:00 pm. With the door closed the noise from the loud patient was muffled enough for me to get some sleep. At 4:00 am the ambulance arrived to take me back home. I never saw the doctor again and the ambulance EMT's removed my IV and off I went. It was so desolate in the ER that night. No friendly nurses to wave to and thank. It was eerily quiet as I was being wheeled out. I didn't like my experience at all

Suite C, 2nd Floor Miriam Hospital The Fain Building…read more First of all,this is a teaching facility for student doctors doing their residency and as such, you need to really keep an eye on everything surrounding your care, your medical history, your medication history, be sure to read all of the doctor's notes after your visits to make sure everything is correct because more often than not these doctors in training make things up that have no bearing on your life or condition. I have caught them listing false information in my medical history alleging that I suffer from mental health issues that my psychiatrist never diagnosed me to have and she should know being a trained specialist in her field. They add information on their notes that doesn't apply to you and mention medications that you are not taking which prove one thing ... they are not listening to patients and writing falsified information on your permanent records and when you ask them to correct it, they tell you that you have to go to the records department and request modification of those notes which takes months because as I was told by the Manager of the records department, there are thousands of patients with the wrong information in their files ... a class action lawsuit should be filed against this hospital to force them to do things correctly. I recently (July 7, 2023) had an appointment with Dr Chirag Mehta at Suite C, I met with him for two reasons, my blood work results for my Cholesterol/Triglycerides were elevated an cause concern with Type 2 Diabetes. I asked about being put on Ozempic, I wasn't. Here's the concerning part, Mehta's notes mentioned mental health issues that I have had years ago and am no longer being treated for, he listed a medication that I haven't been on in over 5 years, and he wrote about things that weren't even discussed in the office, I recorded the entire conversation. I wrote an email to Christine Duffy, the head doctor who's license runs and covers all doctors working in this section of Miriam Hospital. I explained my concerns about what he put in his notes and that none of it applies to me, she referred me to contact the records department to remove the wrong information. I mentioned to her and gave her the information needed to give her access to my medical records and test results. I explained that I am type 2 Diabetes and that I asked Mehta to put me on Ozempic. Christine Duffy contacted Chirag Mehta who examined me on July 7th, this is what he told her ... Mehta told Christine Duffy that I don't qualify to be on Ozempic because I am not currently taking a Statin for my cholesterol and triglycerides. I told Christine Duffy that I am and have been taking Atorvastatin 40mg for the last 6 months and that Atorvastatin is a High Intensity Statin and is listed in my current medications in my records. Duffy is telling me to discuss this with Mehta and I told her that I will be consulting with an attorney to file a lawsuit against Suite C, her and Mehta for failure to properly care for me,failure to provide proper treatment and other issues. Please be advised that the people who are in charge of Suite C and who work under the direction of Christine Duffy are putting your health and lives in jeopardy, I have all the evidence needed to back this up. Do yourself a favor, check your records, all doctor's notes and make sure that you are being given the correct medication so that they don't cause your life to be shortened by their careless behavior.

I walked in and asked if they were open, someone then came out and greeted me. Good thing is they have free parking right in front of the building which is very convenient. The staff that checked me in did not seem very friendly nor customer focused....I really felt like a Number....not a patient needing care. The actual CAT SCAN was quick and easy.

We still have an appointment but we didn't know that because our friend suggested we just come down and then what happened was she filled out all the paperwork and stuff for us so that we were able to apply right away and not have to wait. You should hear something soon but she was just amazing. I believe her name was Liz, but she was just out of this world. She was in the VBA office in the basement, but that did not take away from her ability to do things and to get stuff moving in the right direction for him. Looking forward to hearing back from them.

Things like prescriptions for non-service related needs are billed to his health insurance which have a copay and/or coinsurance. The VA does have a difficult time getting and keeping qualified physicians. He has been assigned a few PCP's over the years and he has requested a change in PCP in the past, which has been done for him. The staff here are pretty laid back in their patient facing interactions. Appointments often run behind schedule, so be sure to 'check-in' with the appropriate people and do ask questions. At our last appointment we had to 'take a number' which wasn't communicated in any way (phone call when making appointment, paperwork, a sign in department) so maybe ask for clarification (just sit down?) even when it doesn't appear clarification is needed. There are also a number of volunteers who can assist you or point you in the right direction. This facility has many on-site services such as lab, pharmacy, EKG, X-ray and so on. Other services are offered at satellite locations throughout the state. They have an urgent visit office on site, open during regular business hours. Outside regular business hours, if you need urgent treatment, call their after hours line to find out what facility is covered by the VA and located near you. We did this once while traveling in PA and were directed to Pittsburgh. As that was about as far away from us as home, we opted to cut our trip short and drive home to use the VA. Not always a convenient option, but if you use the in-network facilities you won't get an unexpected bill. Which is good to know. A new parking structure has been built near the hospital helping to relieve parking issues. The drive up entrance is handicapped accessible and there seem to be a few parking spots in this area as well. Just inside the entrance is a staffed information desk, If you need assistance or directions, stop here. The lobby is a sunny area with a few seats available if you are waiting for a patient or for a patient to wait while you get the car. Many patients are older and use walkers or canes. The halls can be a bit dark, but many are wide and signs overhead give an idea of which corridor will lead to your desired destination. There are vending machines around, usually near waiting areas and public restrooms scattered throughout. Last visit there was a little shop set up near a waiting area selling military related gear like hats. I have found that when a medical service is needed, they do try to provide good care in a timely fashion. Some appointments may not be available quickly due to limited resources, but in the past couple of years, as funding for our VA has increased, more services have become available and appointment times are quicker. Having several Veterans in the family, past and present, I feel taking care of our Vets is a societal, moral obligation and I appreciate that this facility and those working or volunteering here are trying to provide appropriate treatment for our injured and/or ageing military vets. Any medical care system can be frustrating to navigate, especially when resources are limited. Having patients and asking lots of questions in a calm manner can go a long way. Those volunteers, who use the VA themselves, are an excellent resource of information. Stop by the lobby and chat one up. They are there to help.

As much as we all need to be happy and healthy, our credit scores are also important. This medical care's billing system is a failure. When calling to ask them about it, they admit it has been "down" for an extreme length of time. You receive a bill that asks you to go to an online portal. The "paper" bill says one thing the online portal says exactly the opposite, often showing zero balance due. At the end of the day, yes the healthcare is more important, but the credit score jeopardy for not having accurate billing and potentially missing a payment creating credit issue is not worth not going to this establishment again.

As we walked in, there was a nice receptionist ready to help and within a few minutes, my husband went it. It took a bit longer than expected for the proceduere, but once he was ready, I got a call on my cellphone to park along the front curb and pick him up. He came out with a full report with pictures and instructions. Very professional, very efficient.

This place is OK, just OK. I've experienced much better…read more My doctor scheduled a level 2 ultrasound for me at New Beginnings, she said it was the best place in RI to have ultrasounds done. The equipment is supposed to be top of the line and they have the best sonographers in all of RI, so she said. I reluctantly agreed to schedule my level 2 there as I'm 45 mins away from there and I usually go to Narragansett radiology. I read some reviews for New Beginnings on super pages and they weren't great. Not to mention that the tech at Narragansett radiology said that the man there had "terrible bedside manners". I prepared myself for the worst and gladly my experience wasn't a bad one. The decor in this place is like no other. Really modern and beautiful, it doesn't feel like a medical office when you walk in at all, it's more like a cafe or something. It's very nice and comfortable. The bathrooms are huge, and I mean huge, they seriously have a shower in them and there are actual towels for you to dry your hands on - wow. The ultrasound rooms on the other hand weren't special at all and just plain, the bed was horribly uncomfortable. I had back pain so bad it made me nauseous. The bed was too short and my lower legs were hanging off which caused a horrific strain on my back. A level 2 takes time so it was not pleasant to say the least. I could barely pay attention to seeing my baby because the pain was so bad. The tech I had, can't remember if her name was Diane, Dana but it was for sure a d name. She never explained anything, I had to ask her what she was looking at every time. She asked if I wanted to know the gender, I said yes, she said there was no penis but did not show us, nor did she take a pic. I left with 3 mediocre pictures, my Dr. told me I would get a "bunch" and some 3D ones. My baby wouldn't cooperate and show her face so we couldn't get a 3D of the face, but she didn't even try with the gender. We did meet with the genetic counselor, who supposedly has bad bedside manner. He was very pleasant, not demeaning at all, and had a lot of good info for us. Although, we had no abnormal findings on our ultrasound. Maybe he is different if there are...I don't know. Overall, I was not impressed at all. I'd rather go to a place where the tech explains everything they are doing and shows you your baby's gender. I could have just gotten a bad tech but there is always that chance if I go back. I need regular growth scans and I won't be choosing this place to get them.
