I spent 11 days at RIH this month across two admissions. The Urgent Care center thought I had a collapsed lung and sent me via ambulance to the ER. I was examined quickly and it was discovered that I actually had a couple of blood clots in my lungs and infarction. I was admitted and put on Heparin. I got to be in the women's medical unit and got my own room. The nurses were all so kind and attentive, answered my questions and helped me stay relaxed and the CNAs were supportive. The clots caused me to get Pnuemonia - and I added a couple days to my stay. It should have been a scary time (PEs can kill people) but I felt the entire time like I was where I needed to be and it was all under control. I did try to be a star patient but still, the care was excellent. I also felt like nutrition was great - Manny was trying hard to find me something I'd eat when I had absolutely no appetite. Even housekeeping was friendly whenever they came in my room. I ended up getting readmitted when I spiked a fever five days after my first discharge and ended up with sepsis. When I got to the ER I explained my doctor sent me back due to high WBC and tachycardia and they took me right in, put me under sepsis protocol and made me a priority, I felt worse than I did with the PEs and Pneumonia but with fluids and more meds I began to feel so much better so quickly. And again - felt so well cared for by the nurses and doctors. This time I was on co-op 4 for a few days. I know everyone's experience is different. And the patients the nurses and doctors see have varying needs - I tried to not be too needy - I was comfortable enough and getting my meds and tried to focus on doing what I could to improve my recovery time. But seriously - two things that could have killed me and I felt less stressed than I have all year.

Rhode Island Hospital is a private, not-for-profit hospital located in the Upper South Providence neighborhood in Providence. It is the largest academic medical center in the region, affiliated with Brown University since 1959. As an acute care teaching hospital, Rhode Island Hospital is the principal provider of specialty care in the region and the only Level I Trauma Center in southeastern New England. The hospital provides a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic services to patients, with particular expertise in cardiology, including the state's only open heart surgery program; diabetes, emergency medical and trauma, neurosciences, oncology/radiation oncology, orthopedics, pediatrics, and surgery. Rhode Island Hospital's pediatrics division, Hasbro Children's Hospital, is the only pediatric facility in the state. Recording nearly 155,000 visits in any fiscal year, Rhode Island Hospital's adult and pediatric emergency wings are among the busiest in the United States. Rhode Island Hospital is the main teaching hospital of the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Rhode Island Hospital ranks 13th among independent hospitals that receive funding from the National Institutes of Health, with research awards of more than $27 million annually. Many of its physicians are recognized as leaders in their respective fields of cancer, cardiology, diabetes, orthopedics, trauma, and minimally invasive surgery. The hospital's pediatrics wing, Hasbro Children's Hospital, has pioneered numerous procedures and is at the forefront of fetal surgery, orthopedics, and pediatric neurosurgery. Together with the Miriam Hospital, Rhode Island Hospital is a founding member of the Lifespan health system. Rhode Island Hospital employs over 8,000 full and part-time workers. The hospital's medical staff retains over 2,000 physicians. Board certification or eligibility in a specialty or subspecialty is required for all appointed members of the medical staff, as well as those with limited clinical privileges. Some of the rooms look old, some of them look updated....it really depends on the floor, or specialty area you happen to go. Overall the staff is is very good and very caring. I have always had great service and helpfulness from the hospital, either being a transient visit or an overnight visit. It does get very busy to drive around the area, which is a bit of a hassle.

    Just unnecessary- so unwelcoming

Every time Ive been here the hospital is visibly dirty. Race Car factories are cleaner than this hospital. You get some amazing staff and some like the RN yesterday that was above putting on a new diaper on a patient and insisted we wait for a CNA to do it. Entrances blocked off so you just cant enter and have to be escorted through the basement of the hospital. Its a joke. United States healthcare at its finest.

Tight visitor parking but free!…read more I had no idea there were visiting hours! (Note: I would understand a nighttime cut off.) FYI: 10am-1pm, 4-7pm. Luckily when I entered to visit someone, it was 3:40. I did have to wait about 15 minutes in line to register with the lobby staff as a visitor. Standing in the line, we were next to the exit door that kept swinging open and getting hit with bursts of cold, January air! I have to say, this was a terrible system. Also, apparently kids under 13 can't visit. My 13 year old was with me and I would have been really upset if I found out after standing in line. This was not posted anywhere but apiece of paper handed to me at the check in station. There is a waiting area. Someone alerts you once it hits 4pm and you can then go and visit. I have to say, I disliked the process. It was clearly posted on the patients door that I needed PPE equipment to visit. The nurses station quickly set us up for success. KUDOS to Miriam. About a year ago at a nearby hospital this was the case with my father but nothing was posted and I found out AFTER I had already been visiting with him! The Nurse we had was well liked by our patient but I found her to be a know it all. Telling my daughter what her pathway to college should be. (Not nursing either.) She also didn't get the message we were visiting and just stood around and took up a lot of our patients time. Keep in mind, we offered to leave to let her do her duties but she rejected. It was mostly standing around and being a part of our time. Overall, our older family members really prefer Miriam. I did think the room was very clean and the floor we were on was quiet.

I left after 10 minutes because I saw I would be there probably 12 hrs. They wouldn't estimate my wait time. The nurse told me there's 8 different triage areas. But wouldn't tell me which one I was out in or how long I could be waiting for even though I asked. Just a rough estimate would have been fine. But nope. And there is ONE nurse triaging all the patients. That is insane. They all act like it's a big fkn party. There must have been 75 ppl in the waiting area and about 35 more in line. And they have ONE NURSE. AND SHE TOOK HER SWEET MERRY TIME. SLOW AS A TURTLE. The ER and hospital throughout is like a 3rd world country. Absolutely unacceptable. If it turns out that I have a heart attack or major heart issue, I am suing Miriam hospital. DO NOT GO HERE. GO ANYWHERE ELSE BUT HERE. They should be ashamed. I saw plenty of illegal immigrants in there for the sniffles. And those of us with major health concerns have to wait 12 hours. Get your shit together.

In a time where the whole world is suffering through a pandemic, it's always comforting to know…read morethat there is some place you can to and know you will get the best care possible. And that place just happens to be Roger Williams Medical Center. After literally being thrown out of Kent Hospital the night before where I had taken my son for help with Covid, I was at my wits end trying to find another facility to help my son. His oxygen level had dropped to 83 and I was sure he wasn't going to get better. I had checked Miriam, RI Hospital , Fatima and they were all filled. I was not going back to Kent, ( where I have always gone for the last 40 yrs), and started scouting the internet for other options. We found that Roger Williams Medical Center had beds so we headed right there. When we arrived, the nurses immediately took my son in and assessed his situation. They told us that they were admitting him as his oxygen level had significantly dropped to a dangerous level. Within less then 24 hrs, his Doctor, Dr Raimondo, told us that my son had a very bad case of Covid and he had so many Covid crystals in his lungs that he wasn't sure if he would make it! Upon hearing the news, my husband and I were devastated! My son had been informed of his prognosis 4 days later. He was scared! We were scared! I spoke to the nurses, many who were sick with Covid themselves but still came to work, and they assured us he was getting the best care possible. My son decided after a week and not knowing what would happen to him, he just wanted to be home with us and his doggies. We thanked the nurses and his doctor for their exceptional care, which we felt he would not have gotten anywhere else. Update: my son survived this ordeal remarkably. When he went for his first checkup, all the Covid crystals were gone! Dr Raimondo called my son his miracle child! Thank you Dr Raimondo and the entire medical staff at Roger Williams Medical Center!

Watch out for Dr. Mooney/Muni aka Dr. Munirat Adebimpe! She will override your scrips. Read on…read more They lied to me about her name and who she was, so half the time with my memory loss I had no idea who I was seeing. No blatant nametag that I could see either, so pretty much misinformation. I wasn't allowed to request another MD. My wallet was stolen by their security. They gave me thorazine after I found out which made my myoclonus VIOLENT the next morning. Munirat overrode every prescription I had at my pharmacy - she tried to give me 20q of what I already had plus more of Propranolol and Venlafaxine when I already had enough, which could have been a dangerous situation. I had 90 PROPRANOLOL seeing as I was just discharged from cardiac critical care less than a week before I came here. People repeatedly pointed at me when I did whiteboard therapy. I had to wait for a cane I fought for, with no fall risk bracelet unlike all the bluehairs. I was graphically told about how some drank bleach just to get in. Shower was inaccessible - no guardrails. Most had adjustable HOSPITAL BEDS - whereas mine was hard plastic. I have a genetic spinal degenerative disease in my 20s and woke up every day nearly seizing in pain. They wouldn't let me get up to pee one day, and I dropped everything including my cane, drink and items on my table trying to make noise to get help. I waited 50 minutes. 50. They will give you broken pills, tell you it happened when they took the pills out of the container, and then tell you 1mg of your anti-seizure med is 2mg when you full well know it's NOT. Stan told me it wasn't a full dose due to a benzo cutback. I asked him if he thought I'd exhausted all of my options like my GP said and he said "We're bending over backwards for you. It looks that way. I suggest taking a med Uber to Boston General." Why are you here? To sit there looking aimless while you judge my music taste in therapy? I said "If this is breaking your back, then you need to push a little further and break your spine like I am with this cane because literally nothing you are doing is helping." Peter was a SOB who literally laughed at me while I was in pain asking for my anticonvulsant med to help me not fall while I peed, meanwhile I was also concerned about my stolen wallet which I never got back/never heard back about. My family was on the horrors the entire time. Rumors of positive COVID cases, no mask wearing, no hand washing. A senile white guy spitting at a black man when they were roomed together. White guy should have been shipped off to Slater! They also apparently allow victims of abusive relationships - and I mean this kid had WOUNDS - to have their GFs on other floors come up and visit them. My mom was repeatedly told no visitors when she asked while I saw this couple being physical. Believe what you hear in the reviews about abuse, because it's RAMPANT. Another 2 tried to 'elope' or at least made plans to, shared clothes, and were walked in on by someone in charge of therapy. When 'she' was moved, chairs were thrown at glass. Downright harmful, abusive and a very sorry situation to consider I was the one being laughed at at times for nearly having a seizure just trying to walk. Hotter than hell in this brick sh-thouse if you're sad enough to be there in the summer. I believe it's bldg 3. I needed icepacks. I was repeatedly looked at in the bathroom. It literally takes an hour to go without the Klonopin the majority of them would not give. Staff that come in on the weekend will give you your meds if you need them. People lying on the floor laughing. No space to even sit. I knew it was Adderall/Lithium drugging before I even bothered asking. They treat you like an addict regardless of why you're there because they're creating them. Pushed Seroquel on me every day when it already failed years before. Not to mention it can kill long QTers. Came here after every hospital wanted nothing to do with me post-CVE - time frame was June-July 2022. Not allowed an AD in case something happened. My rights were infringed. I had plans for VSED and when I brought it up to Munirat I was lectured about it. She insinuated I didn't know. Her eyes bulged, most likely because she'd be losing a patient as well as her $. Pain patients have a choice - understand you needn't be a part of it if you're not willing to be cooperative. Shows up as Affinity Physicians in Boston which is troubling. Dr. Rengifo shook his head at my entire experience and could not give me 1 referral due to wait times despite him saying I needed 2 surgical consults, one of which was NEURO. I was billed mainly through Medicare despite having dual coverage to pick up fees. They failed to put my insurance in the computer properly. Just another abuse tactic. Absolute clusterf---k and no wonder some poor dude blinded himself here years ago.
