Listen... if you're trying to impress on a first date without doing the tired dinner-and-drinks…read moreroutine, this is the move. I booked Potteryland Studio for a 3:30 PM session, and while it was a little busy, it actually worked in our favor. The energy in the room helped ease those first-date nerves--because let's be honest, silence on a first date is not your friend. The selection of pottery pieces? Solid. Plenty of variety without being overwhelming. We landed on the 2-piece butterfly set (which felt very "cute but intentional"), and I added the balloon add-on to bring some extra life to the table. That little detail? Whew. It did exactly what it needed to do. She was impressed, and points were definitely earned. Once we chose our pieces, there was a bit of a wait before someone came over to walk us through the process. Not a dealbreaker, but noticeable. When he did come over (his name escaped me--I was focused on not fumbling the date), he was helpful and explained the painting process clearly, including the "3 coats for true color after firing" tip. From there, it was smooth sailing. We picked our colors, got to painting, and just... talked. And that's where this place shines. It creates space for real conversation without it feeling forced. You're doing something with your hands, you're laughing at each other's designs--it's low pressure but still intentional. The staff checked on us regularly, which I appreciated. My only critique? The cooler. I didn't even notice it until we were wrapping up, and I was definitely ready for some water by then. If that's for guests, just say that upfront. Don't have me discovering hydration like it's a hidden side quest. Overall? This was a great experience. Creative, interactive, and just the right amount of different. The date went well, the vibe was right, and honestly... I'd do it again.

Potteryland - But everybody kept telling me they love the watermelon vibe. I'm optimistic about the glazing and baking, but I like watermelons, too.

Potteryland - They loaned us a table to display the cake setup, but I brought it. They do not provide decor.

I am an adult learner and have been with SoR for about a year. I'm having tons of fun playing great music with other like-minded adults. They have also been fantastic during covid with remote and/or in-person lessons and rehearsals. A great place to start living your best rock 'n roll life. Shout outs to Nathan and Garrett for being such fun instructors, and thanks to Sarah for running such a great school.

We did experience what seemed to be some growing pains, and it was difficult for us to maintain the schedule due to other obligations that inevitably popped up, not to mention holiday closures. In the end, we got behind in classes and ultimately withdrew in the hole, no fault of School of Rock who tried to accommodate, but because of our busy lives. (Notably, there is a requisite 30-day notice to cancel. Be aware of this should you decide to enroll or withdraw.) Would we do it again? Maybe... if life were a bit less chaotic!
