Decided to give this salon a try after finding them on Groupon. I made an appointment about a week and a half in advance. When the day came, I went to my appointment. I checked in with the receptionist and was told to sit an wait. Although the receptionist was nice, the co-worker that was next to her was rude. Finally after about 10-15 min, I was finally told that my appointment was cancelled. They did not call me to tell me it was cancelled and I already drove all the way there. If you know me, you know i'm a total groupon queen! I love trying new places and this was the case with Ricca Donna Salon. I bought the groupon for the shellac manicure/pedicure and did a little research before, which made it look pretty bougie so i figured hey what could go wrong? Well this was quite possibly the worse job I've ever gotten. Sad to say because the girl was actually really nice. Basically her station was in the corner of a hair salon and when I say corner I mean you are are sitting in a regular chair with two walls literally by both of your shoulders. That was strike one because it should be a relaxing experience with a big comfy massage chair or something. Then she had me soak my feet in a tub that was just like something you'd get at the dollar tree (she used a liner at lease so I appreciated that). The pedicure turned out ok, but the manicure was just a disaster start to finish. She didn't have very many options for colors even though I just wanted more of a deep red. Then it took her forever to take off the gel on my nails and charged $5 extra for that. She mentioned she needed to clip my nails because they were too long and they'd snap and it all really went downhill from there. EVERY single one of my nails was a different shape and the nail polish didn't cover the edges of my nails, it was all over the sides of my skin and under my nails! There is also lint and random shit literally on my nail that was painted right over so it's just a bumpy ass nail LOL! You're probably wondering why didn't she say something? i WOULD have except again I was in a literal corner with terrible lighting so I wasn't able to even see clearly until I got outside and saw the mess. The nails are not shiny at all just look scuffed/dull as if I've had the manicure for weeks. Overall it was a terrible job for the upscale salon they claim to be. I bought a groupon so it didn't hit my pocket hard, but the fact that someone may potentially pay full price for something like this BLOWS MY MIND! The owner REALLY should look into this, NO ONE would be okay with their nails looking like this. I went home and redid/reshaped them myself because it was so bad and the pictures speak to it. Save yourself time/money and go to a regular nail salon. read more

I showed a picture of what I wanted and my hair looks nothing like it. When I asked for my money back, I was asked to come in to have her fix it. It still looks nothing like the photo. I was called "picky" by the owner/stylist. I spent $170...I just wanted my hair to look like what I asked for. I don't think that qualifies as being picky. She was irritated and put off by "having" to try and correct it. I'm still unhappy with the results. My hair does not look "bad", but for $170, it should at least slightly resemble the photo I showed. It does not. I will never go back. read more

So here's the story. 4 girls in my office go to Tony at Ricca Donna. They all have nice hair. They all said nice things about Tony. So I decided to give them a shot. I call on Friday and Tony answers the phone himself. Cool. I ask if he can fit me on Saturday and he says, Yes baby, I can fit you in tomorrow at 12:30. You can come then daaaahling? Yeah. So I show up at about 12:20 thinking that if I show up a little early maybe they'll get me out a little early. Notsomuch. They didn't even start my color till 1:30. Yeah. In Tony's defense - he was fast once he actually started working on me. And good. I love the cut. I love the color and he was a freaking riot to listen to. I think he told me I was beautiful (except for the one layer in my hair he kept complaining about - "what they doing to you?" he kept asking me) at least 20 times. I like being told I'm beautiful. Even if the guy is being paid to tell me I'm beautiful. I'll take it. The best part of the whole Ricca Donna/Tony experience? The price tag. Only $85 for a cut and full head highlight and style. I came here today with the help of yelp to find my new local hairdresser and i can say I've found her! Erica was great! I came a little early since I had a previous appt but she didn't see me till my appt right on the dot which I didn't mind of course! Coming in I was greeted pleasantly by the receptionist and told to wait in the waiting area. Of course having my iPhone with me, I didn't mind the wait at all! Erica came and got me and asked me what I wanted. I told her how my hair is thin and I usually like layers so it can look more voluminous and how I'm trying to grow it out. She didn't respond to me telling me she thinks I should keep it short since I have thin hair (since it's the typical response I always get) and she gives me the perfect cut!! After I came out looking like I had longer hair since she did such a great job on my layers and it also looked like I came out with more hair than I came in with!! She also worked on me in a total of 30 minutes!! Super fast. Super friendly. Super great haircut! What more could you ask for!? She's definitely my go to girl every month now! =) read more

My husband went to ask for a refund, Von refused & said that she will fix it. I took an appointment with her after being unethically treated over the phone by them, I went I was late due to constructions in State College, I found that she she closed the door by the key so I don't get in.Then Von started yelling at me. From the outside, it looks very debonair and upscale... like those salons you hear about with those obscure names on Park Ave. or something. So I finally called in, then found out that we actually need to call the stylist directly. But since I was new, I was referred to Lynne, and it was the beginning of a beautiful hairelationship. :) Every time I visit Lynne, it's like visiting an old friend who I haven't seen in ages. We catch up on what we've missed, she always seems to remember what I was going through at the time of our last visit (big PLUS when your stylist knows who you are!), and we have a blast yapping about celebrity gossip. I went to Vanessa Garcia based on the reviews from Yelp and she did a great job. She was super nice. I don't think I've ever gotten along with a stylist so well. The only downside of Ricca Donna is that the front desk staff is not friendly at all. Due to the minimal interaction I tried to keep with them, they still managed to come off snobby and rude. Just brought my mom here today and referred her to the same hairdresser Erica. My mom was really nervous since she'd been going to another hairdresser for 11 years, but was no longer satisfied with her work. She received the same exquisite treatment as I did and was very kind and personable to my mom, making sure she got the look that she wanted. If I needed and updo in high school Ricca Donna is where I went. Homecomings, Proms, or whatever the occasion, they never disappointed. Their prices are so much more reasonable than other salons and considering I was only in high school I didn't have much cash to spare. Their staff was always nice on the phone when I was making an appointment and their salon has a nice edgyish feel. The stylist I always went to was Von. She is a nice Asian lady who can do just anything. She prefers that you bring a picture, but I've just described what I wanted before without a problem. She charges around $50 for an updo and will have you out of this in under an hour. That's right and hour for curling and pinning all of my long stubborn black hair. I also trusted solely her with my bangs for years. I never had to worry with her because she truly knows her crafts. A couple minutes with a few snips here and there and for $5 I had the perfect bangs every time. I haven't been in a while, but that is what happens when you grow up and move away to college. If I was ever back and needed something for a special event or a bang trim I would swing by in a heartbeat. read more

Todd is great! I purchased a Groupon he had which I thought was too good to be true for the price and services he was offering. He set the expectation before he even got started let me know there would be an upcharge of $10 since my hair was little longer and had to use an extra tube of color. Which I was completely fine with, and he also let me know since I was wanting to go from blonde to burnette that it was going to take more than one time since my hair had been stripped. I liked that he let me know all of this before starting and I was fine with that so I wasn't disappointed with the end result. He is super professional and made me feel comfortable making light conversation and letting me know what he was doing while he was doing it. After moving from San Diego, I had to rediscover a Salon with comparable service I was use to. Ricca Donna was one the nearest salon that offered Shellac gel. Lizz did an awesome job and still does. Most manicurists do not take the time to remove gel properly w/o destroying ur nail. Lizz takes her time, I see growth & healthy nails with consistent manies. Yea she uses an old school foot bath but the all natural oatmeal soak & the amazing sugar scrub compensate. As a 40 yr old women & an avid consumer I've definitely experienced Gd looking nails but bad customer service & vis versa. Everyone compliments my nails. Here at Ricca Donna I get both. So if you guys needs a new hairstylist, consider going to Yen! Now, as for the salon. The shampooing area can use some work on the walls but other than that It's drop, dead, gorgeous!! I thought this was a cute salon when I came here to get my eyebrows threaded with Sameera and her team. When I went up to pay at the front desk, after a threading session, is when I met Amanda. I was asking about haircuts and her availability, so I made an appointment with her and jokingly asked her if she can work with my "funk". And that, she did. I'm really particular about my hair because it's thick and wavy and sometimes there are stylists out there that just don't know how to work with my hair type. I was also hesitant to get bangs again, especially since i spent so much time growing them out, but I went for it because for some reason I just trusted her. I like the way they fall, and she didn't cut them too thick like the last person who cut my hair. She also gave me great styling tips and took the time to show me her technique to get the curls a certain way. He takes his own appointments so you'll have to call Ricca Donna and they will give you his cell #. He did a great job!!!! I'll definitely go back to him. Kamal listened to what kind of style I wanted and gave feedback when I asked for it. He has been cutting hair since he was 10 years old!!!!!!! This is the best A-line cut I've ever gotten. It was $60 for my A-line bob and straight bangs. Love it :) The only knock I can give Ricca Donna is that the receptionists put me on hold for a long time both times that I called.
