We moved to Coventry recently and our kitchen needs a renovation. Someone mentioned Ricci Cabinets had the best pricing. So we called. My husband made an appointment with Gia for someone to come to the house and do a "professional kitchen measure" for $100 and in exchange, if we used them we would get a free cabinet. So she set a day but said she would get back to my husband with a time later when she spoke to whoever did the measure work and whoever else may come out.
A couple of days before the appointment we still didn't have time. My husband made multiple calls to Gia asking for a time for the appointment as he works and needs to plan his day as do I. Nothing. The message on the machine says they check it every 2-3 hours a day and will get back to you.
Lie.
The actual day of the appointment comes and my husband now takes the day off of work, bc we have no idea what time this kitchen measure is supposed to take place but he wanted to be there to look at samples they said they would bring, and ask questions. This is a signifignigant amount of money we are about to invest. We have been through one kitchen renovation and it went seamlessly years ago, but that was not in Coventry.
He begins the day calling Ricci Cabinets asking when they are coming, but nothing, a few hours later again, nothing.
I call, then realize they will be closing in a few hours and they are a 10 min drive so I'll just go to the warehouse and find out what is going on.
I show up, I am greeted by a fresh-faced young kid, that unfortunately, had to hear my story. He explained he was the driver that just started the day before. I notice another man in the showroom, arms crossed just saying nothing. The driver said Gia wasn't there and the owner wasn't there either it was just him, but he called the owner and he was coming. So the other person must have either been an installer or a customer I'm thinking.
I was sitting there, with no chair to wait for, no prices on cabinets to look at, and decide to go back home. As I'm pulling out of the parking lot, I see a big black SUV pull into the driveway the owner pulls in, and starts yelling to me threw my window, DID YOU PAY 100 $$$ ??
It begins to rain, so I get out of my car instead of yelling through my car window to have a conversation, I explain I understand I have to pay 100 $ in exchange for a free cabinet. The point is Gia never followed up and made a time for the appointment and we were sitting on our asses all day.
It became very clear he had no idea there was an appointment for today, he started with all the excuses, "the baby was sick yesterday, ", To which my reply was I don't care about that, find someone to call us back, your family is huge. Just call and say my baby is sick.
His reply to me is your a very bad person.
I was not insinuating that I didn't care about the baby, my point is it's not relevant to us being ignored for days and days without a return phone call.
He then points to the guy who was in the showroom and says I DO GOOD WORK, HE OWNS RESTAURANTS IN CT. AND I DO WORK FOR HIM. Well there you go, that was their plan for the day, the big industrial job from CT, not the 100$ measure in Coventry, RI.
They had no plans on coming to measure, they had days to call, and we left messages on the phone multiple times that went unanswered.
I thank God this happened. As I said a kitchen renovation is scary because there is a trusting relationship you need to have with your people. Because you're going to give them tens of thousands of dollars upfront, then you hope and pray, they show up, the cabinets are good, they coordinate with your tile guy, your counters, etc. It is a dance based on trust and respect. Clearly, Ricci Cabinets is a big family business that uses that showroom like an ATM. No accountability, the owner isn't firing his daughter'".
The poor kid who is a driver who started yesterday showed me more respect and care for my situation than the owner. TOO BIG TO FAIL-- NOT ON MY DIME
THANK YOU FOR NOT SHOWING UP READING THESE REVIEWS YOU SEE THEY DO SHODDY WORK AND
Another Yelp review
"If you are looking to have new kitchen cabinets and countertops installed with endless delays, multiple calls, and texts for updates that accomplish nothing but excuses, shoddy workmanship, and overall incompetence from the company, then this place is for you."
So we may pay 5ooo$ for our cabinets in the end, or not. But Ricci Cabinets will not get a dime from us. Even if they offered to come out for a free measure to make up for this I see that the way we just were treated is the way we could expect all the way and THEN be stuck with shoddy workmanship. I couldn't imagine.
Thanks for not showing up Ricci Kitchen, you did us the biggest favor. read more
