This place needs to reconsider their menu. And probably their front of house staff too. It can really fail a restaurant. Kendall answered, said they'd do take out orders but any question we had took '1 second' away from the phone to say- 'It sounds like it's not a place for you'. On a simple. Phone. Order. I've worked in restaurants and to-go is getting business without the table work. It's easy. Well Kendall, I hope you have the time in service industry you deserve. We called for a very easy pick up order with a simple protein substitution, a protein they offer in many dishes. We had a very odd and rather upsetting experience here tonight and will not be returning. When we walked in with our two young sons (one of whom is only 3 months old) we were told that they no longer seat children after 6 pm. This seemed very strange to us, as we have eaten here before and there were plenty of open seats. We asked to speak to the manager and then young host went to the back for several minutes. When she returned she said she had "misheard" and that they were actually booked for the night. When we eventually found the manager for ourselves it was very apparent that he just didn't want to seat us. We were given no potential wait times and they kept changing their story on why we couldn't be seated. Very sad as we were here to celebrate our son for the night. If you have kids or babies I'd save yourself the hassle and stay away from this place. read more

We have been wanting to try this place for a while. Love the cozy environment. Emerson (sorry if I didnt spell right) was our server. She was very attentive and very knowledgeable of the menu. My husband ordered brisket fried rice and I ordered the the spicy brisket with Thai basil and fried egg with rice. Absolutely delightful! So happy to have a quality restaurant in Drip. Pretty good and unique Thai fusion with Texas BBQ! Without compromising authentic Thai flavors! We order chicken pad Thai, never had chicken with pad Thai but it was delicious. The brisket massaman curry was the standout. The brisket Smokey aroma with the rich curry sauce was definitely one of a kind! The Tom Kha Gai was nice and savory soup. I love Thai food; never had it until around 2008 just when I started my Yelp journey in Austin. Small town Drip actually has two new Thai places. One in a trailer and brick and mortar Rice and Oak. Heard it's an offshoot of another trailer AROI just down the road. Sitting at my desk about 6 miles away I chose to order online. Two identical orders; two different results. Square website says please DON'T arrive before the time suggested. Well, for this one it's 45 minutes out. Back to work but all of a sudden 15 minutes later my order is ready. Drove to Drip; headed back to my desk. Flavor is good but the shrimp are overcooked. Like knife to cut them. This is a premium dish at $16 plus fees, sales tax, and tip. OK, maybe it was a fluke. I try again within a few weeks. Same exact order. Again, 45 minutes out. About 30 minutes into the wait I head into Drip. Spend a few minutes swiping around on my phone. Walk in with 3 minutes togo. This time, they haven't even started my order. I ask about my food; I was told 5 minutes. At 8 minutes I'm asking for a refund. I'm IGNORED. At 12 minutes past I'm finally handed my food. Shrimp were better but this place has a few kinks to work out. read more

What a great little spot tucked away and on Mall with big flavors and great service. Stopped in for a late lunch and had a nice time! We tried the coconut shrimp app and came with green beans in the mix. Very tasty but less coconut than Im used to. Duck.leg curry was next. Good flavors but something seemed a bit off in the balance. Still I enjoyed it and the duck was very tender. My friend had the Chicken Pad Thai and she loved it. The chicken on top was grilled, so it added a great element to the dish. Might just be the smallest Asian restaurant I've ever eaten in, but was clean with excellent service and a pretty chill vibe considering the small space. The corn nubs were surprisingly good. Our shrimp pad Thai had a decent flavor. Three large shrimp but not a lot of noodles. read more

This restaurant is fantastic. The food was so delicious and we loved getting recommendations from the server. We were really happy with the choices. We found out that some of our friends were there for lunch while we were there for dinner. They said they loved what they ate as well. The Drinks were great too. We got there for an early dinner so it wasn't full or noisy. It was just right. We look forward to trying some other dishes soon. read more

The area was small and cozy with a calm vibe. Food came out pretty quickly and service was amazing! I'd recommend trying the Thai ice tea if you're a fan of sweet drinks. My favorite thing was the chicken skewer appetizer, it came with a flavorful peanut sauce and cucumber salad. Another favorite were the noodles in the pad Thai they were perfectly chewy and satisfying to eat . I don't normally do bad reviews like this but I am very disappointed. We've been here a couple of times before and while the food is tasty, it always gives me a weird feeling like sleepy/brain fog after. Even my husband did. I happen to check my blood sugar after eating their brussels sprouts and grilled chicken and my blood sugar was 200+ and I am not even diabetic. Goes to show how much hidden sugar they add in the sauce. They did not entertain our food request substitution on another occasion. We had to wait longer because the waiter gave us the wrong food I had ordered and was gas lighted that I was the one who changed my mind. Another separate encounter was I placed an order online without realizing the earliest I can pick up was an hour later. I sent my husband to pick it up 25 mins later and it wasn't ready so he went home. I called the restaurant but no answer so I replied to the order confirmation text message I received earlier that I want to cancel order is it not going it be ready for another 30+ minutes. A minute later I got a confirmation that my order was ready for pick up. I was like great they are awesome and was able to prepare my order fast! So I sent my husband back to the restaurant again only for them to tell him they haven't made the food yet because I cancelled. I guess that's what I get for cancelling? The excuse was there's a glitch in the system that instead of sending me a cancelled confirmation, they sent me the order ready for pick up instead. Nobody tried to make it right. The Asian lady was just like sorry for the inconvenience. They hire high schoolers as staff who are clearly not trained well which I'm not going to write another paragraph about past experience with bad service, etc. I hope owner will do something to improve. Or maybe not since they are always busy anyway, she won't care about this. read more

First experience was positive. Tried the brisket bowl. It was decent. Second time was a disaster. Took 45 minutes to get a pork bowl. The pork was a tough as shoe leather. I was very excited about trying out this relatively new joint in Drip, but was sadly disappointed. The managers/owners are the true problem. I sat at the bar by myself to enjoy a beer and some brussel sprouts, but could constantly hear the owner, Noon, berating staff who were simply asking questions to better suit the customer's needs (such as allergens or substitutions). Speaking of berating, I could also hear her in the kitchen arguing with the owner and her supposed husband, Jo. The food was alright, nothing exceptional. It's just sad that I wanted to support a "small business" when all the owners care about is deterring the blame to their young staff that they hired . Run don't walk to this restaurant. They kept the charming bar from the place prior - brilliant. But the star is the food. What an amazing concept of combining Texas Smoke and Thai. One of the better chicken satays I've had, the salmon bowl is so flavorful I have not been able to not get it every time. And the pad Thai- woah. Not kid friendly and turned out to be a sad meal. My husband and I popped in for an early dinner. The food was good, especially the flavor of the meat. However, it is not at all family friendly. They do not allow children above walking age to lap sit. The poor young family next to us were told that their very young toddler (looked to be around 15 months) was not allowed to sit in mom's lap. We all sat through our dinner listening to the poor little guy wailing for the first 5 minutes in his high chair while the parents diligently tried to settle him before eventually the father took him outside for the rest of the meal. I asked the staff about the rule and they confirmed that walking aged children must be seated due to legal reasons or "laws". It's also a very small seating area that looks like it accommodates around 16 people in total. We ordered a to go dish halfway through our meal and were told it would be about 45 minutes. We watched the hostess refuse takeout orders as people walked in about this time. I can only assume it's a kitchen capacity issue. Regardless of the kitchen capacity, I found the overall atmosphere inappropriate for our family centric area. I would be uncomfortable and frankly unable to dine there with my kids and grandkids.
